this place is not fancy, there's no "free" bottled water, it's not poshly decorated but who cares? they deliver on the services! and in the end, that's what matters to me. i have had pedicures, haircuts, eyebrow waxing etc done here for years--but most recently, i've indulged in laser surfacing on my face to get rid of ugly brown age spots. the laser work has taken years off my face--no lie. after several treatments, they are no longer visible. and better yet, it cost me a fraction of the price compared to high-end salons/doctors' offices. i'm so grateful this little gem is so close to home for me. thank you mimi and staff! read more

I have been patronizing L A Nails for 17 years. My eyebrows are always FABULOUS when I leave. This family owned salon has definitely evolved over the years. MiMi and Lee are wonderful. The time an effort they put into their craft is impeccable. The prices are reasonable and the salon is extremely clean. I'm not certain what the negative reviews are about but they aren't warranted. I've been going to LA Nails for many years! Mimi is the only one who I allow to touch this face. I don't know what happened with Lia'.She says that the person did a good job waxing, but wants to give a bad review because of some wax getting on her dress! really?? Why would u wear what ur going out in to a nail salon??? Duh...dumb move! I highly recommend LA Nail for all of your waxing needs! Mimi is the BEST!! Furthermore you can tell by the pictures that its not a hole in the wall!! This is the best salon to go to for your waxing needs. I always get compliments on my eyebrows. I have been coming to this business for 10 years now. I left the area for a few years and returned. When I returned, about a year ago, I decided to try out a few new salons. I went to the one in Bailey's Crossroads. It was okay; however, their attitude was "I don't care if you are here." They didn't take good care of my pedicure, they did an average job. I went to a few others, even as far as 7 Corners. Today I returned to L.A. Nails on Columbia Pike. I'm glad I did. I arrived a few minutes before opening and was welcomed with a great attitude. They did my nails at the same time as my pedicure. And wow, their massage chairs are out of this world. She wasn't quite ready because they had just opened; however, she set me up in the massage chair and I was in 7th heaven. They did my pedicure wonderfully. Since I'm a diabetic and have fiba they took extra care in performing their services. I had lots of hang nails and they took of those perfectly. I left with beautiful nails and feet. Relaxed and happy. I highly recommend this service. I will not go any way else again. I love to get there when they first open, it's quiet and peaceful. After noon they are swamped and I don't recommend not making an appointment. read more

I was in need of an eyebrow arch and fill-in for my gels. It was 9something in the morning and I was sure no one was open. Lo and behold, this place was. Not officially though. The lady came to the door and said she could do my eyebrows. "Great!" I thought. She was this overly made up Asian chick (bleached hair, eyebrows drawn in with red eyeliner, etc). She was on the phone speaking whatever language, but managed to communicate to me that I should come back to the waxing room/closet of death. I followed. Standard procedure, right? She stayed on that damn phone the whole time! At one point, she hands me the phone and puts it on speaker so she can continue her dramatic conversation that really sounded like the reading of a dim sum menu. I said, "Not too thin," realizing that this was lasting way too long. She snatches the phone from me and goes back to her conversation and starts tweezing at my eyebrows. Funny, with all the waxing, I didn't think I had a damn thing left. Finally, she leads me from the closet of death and takes me to a shabby looking mirror. WHERE THE HELL WERE MY EYEBROWS?!?!? Where my eyebrows once were, I was left with two thin lines of struggling-to-hang-on hair. I said, "What the hell did you do?!?" She replied, "Eeee looo niiiiiiii!" (It looks nice). I will be DAMNED. Adding insult to injury -- she charged me $12! For three weeks, I walked around looking shocked, amazed and surprised. Never again. Avoid this place! read more

I happened to be in the area and needed a last minute haircut. Thank god I found this place, where I got a fantastic cut from Kim, the stylist. I have the typical hard/dense asian hair, so often times hair salons will mess the cut up. Had absolutely no problem here and got the exact cut I wanted. Overall horrible customer service. Just came in for something quick (a trim and a blowout) and took forever to get attended and finally told to wait. Once the stylist (Kim if I remember) took the time to talk to me stated that it's super expensive and I should leave. He said $50 for a trim and blowout and stated that a trim $45. Honestly not the best way to talk to a potential client who waited. There's no excuse for the treatment and as for suggestions I would state that "currently I am finishing up with another client if you can come back in insert time" so that future incidents like this don't occur and time isn't lost. read more

I visited this salon on April 13th after reading the reviews on Yelp and needing a change from my usual Skyline Nails. My experience was an utter disappointment and a complete waste of my time. The place is kinda hole in the wall. When I arrived, the place was empty, save for the barber and a customer in his chair. One single lady sat at a table in the back. I asked if I could have my nails done. She beckoned to me, rather than greeted me, to come over. Sat down. Told her I'd like to fill in and get a pedicure. She looked at my nails and started removing the polish. Then she asks what I want done after I'd already told her. So I repeated that I'd like my nails filled in with acrylic and french-tipped. She asked me this time, if 'you want polish change'. Yet again, I repeated myself. This time, she said 'no'. Flat out no. From what I could understand, she said she could remove the polish and polish them with clear polish. At that point I was just fed-up and decided to go with my first instinct, after seeing this shabby, empty establishment, and told her I'd take my business elsewhere. Would not recommend even if their services were free. read more

Lee and Van did a wonderful job. I rarely treat myself so it was nice to have Lee do my Shellac nails and Van take care of my pedicure. I've recently had surgery so was nervous about my scars and having someone touch my feet. I'm also very ticklish on my feet. She was very gentle and took care of me. She also didn't tickle my feet like most people do. Recommend this little shop of wonders! read more

I used to love going to this location and get a manicure done but on my recent visit I had the worst customer service ever!!! I decided to get a pedicure done at this location for the first time, however the experience was not pleasant at all. The lady that helped me out did not take her time and on top of that she made both my toes bleed! I had to tell her to stop three times!! Who does that? The first time I told her to stop she looked at me and kept on going. Then I had to repeat myself for the second time and she ignored me until I raised my voice and told her to STOP! Afterwards all she said was like does it hurt? She made me bleed and she looked at me then continued to do her job. The next day I looked at my toe and it was hurting all day!! My toe looks ugly like if it's infected but I keep putting alcohol and luckily it's getting better. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS LOCATION EVER AGAIN! This place deserves ZERO STARS! By far the worst nail experience ever! When I first came in I mentioned that I was going to the beach and that I wanted gel on my toes as well as my hands and was told no I couldn't get it done on my toes, even though at another location I've had it done before. The lady who did my toes did an good job hence the one star but while she was finishing up, another lady started on my fingers. She seemed to have an attitude while shaping my nails and thus misshaped them and rubbed the skin around them raw. When I asked her to stop because it hurt, her response was that "she needed to because it would look better in the end" I had also asked her to not cut the cuticle at the base of my nail because they are thin again her response was that it would look better after they are painted. Another woman, Mimi I think, had to take over and paint, she did a very poor job and her work was sloppy. I left with dried gel nail polish on the skin of my fingers and misshapen nails. I just wanted to leave, they won't have to worry about me coming back. read more

I just moved to the Arlington area and decided to drop in to this place since it is close to my new home. I was coming in for gel mani and regular pedi. Extremely disappointed. This visit was to get my nails/toes done for my wedding day and so of course I wanted the experience and the results to be perfect. Pedicure was painful and not relaxing at all and while I was getting my pedicure there was another lady filing my nails I guess prepping for the manicure afterwards. She made them so rough on top and didn't even buff them out. We finally get to the manicure and she made me BLEED TWICE... TWICE! My fingers were so uncomfortable, she cut too much cuticle on almost every finger nail. Nails were not shaped properly and were rough on the top edges making me snag everything! I asked for 1 nail design on my ring finger and she painted it and told me to put my hand in the UV Gel Machine to dry it. I told her I didn't think you could put regular paint under this light and she put my hand in anyway, causing the design to actually BURN onto my nail. It looked HORRIBLE. I had her remove the design and redo the nail polish because by that time I was fed up with trying to explain you cannot put regular paint in that machine for that long and that it would not dry. It was like her first time painting nails. I will never go back and now have to go to another salon to get this job corrected after paying almost 70 dollars for horrible results!
