Genie is extremely racist against people who are white and she is a horrible hair stylist. I left here in tears, it was nothing but lies and disappointment. I've never had an experience like this in my entire life, please save yourself the trouble and whatever you do, do not go here. I cut my hair very short and really wanted extensions. Genie promises all over her website that she guarantees satisfaction and that she is an expert in the hair industry..she is not. Look at what she did to the other client who left a 1 star review on Google reviews..Genie does not know how to do hair! Halfway through the hair appointment, Genie began to tell me how much she hated white women telling me that they're not human, "they're all ugly", and that she "loves to take their money" to do their extensions. I kept quiet and she even became annoyed with me for not agreeing with her. At this point, I knew I had made a mistake coming to her because no professional, normal, good person would talk about how much they hate a certain race for hours on end; it was absolutely unbelievable. Later in the appointment, I hear Genie say "Uh oh." She had run out of hair for my extensions despite me having come in the week prior for a consultation to get my EXACT measurements. After paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars, I was left with sparse, stringy, unblended, thin extensions with my tracks showing through which you can see in the picture. I was crying because I was so devastated by how horrible the finished version of my hair looked. She started to panic and gathered some random, off-colored pieces of hair that she found lying around. She put those random pieces in my head all the while telling me that she's the best in the business but she didn't know what to do. I went home with my hair looking terrible, and I took it out after only a few days. Another stylist who removed Genie's extensions for me told me that the hair was incredibly low quality which is not what Genie promised...Genie is in her 70s or 80s and she is out of touch with how extensions should be put in. She's a good saleswoman because I truly believed she would be "different" and "fix all of my hair problems" and that she has the best of everything and is an expert, but it's all lies. Another client that I saw in her office had thin hair extensions that didn't look blended well and my hair was also this way too. The pictures on her website also look very old to me as if they're from a long time ago, so I'm not sure if Genie used to be a good stylist years ago, but she no longer knows how to do hair. She charged me $600 for the hair plus the time to put it in and it didn't even look good! I've been getting extensions since I was 12 years old, and I've never ever paid that much especially for the hair to look so low quality and for poor service from such an unprofessional, no-skill, racist woman. read more

L A Hair Extensions - tracks showing through, my real hair is not blended with the extensions - Hair Extensions Near Me - Atlanta, Georgia

I've been to Genie at LA Hair 3 times now, once for my initial put in of my extensions, once for a tightening and then again for a take down and put back in of my extensions. Not only is Genie professional but she does an outstanding job! Since getting my extensions my actual hair health has greatly improved, even my regular stylist mentioned it. She suggested me to use The Conditioner by Paul Mitchell on my new hair as well as my own hair and my hair went from somewhat frizzy and overworked due to the mass amount of heat I put on it to shiny and healthy. I could never leave the house without flat ironing my hair or it looked terrible, now with this product + the extensions that are identical to the texture of my hair I can leave the house with a wet head even and my hair turns out wonderfully. I definitely recommend her services, especially after having extensions in the past! Also, just to notate - I am caucasian, with fine hair, and my extensions stay without slipping for several weeks. She works magic! :) read more

I highly recommend Genie. I have always had trouble getting my hair to grow but when it started to recede around the front and my bangs simply would not grow I decided to start researching alternatives. I found Genie's website, lahairatl.com, and subsequently scheduled a consultation. We decided on the right color, texture and style and within a matter of days I had a beautiful head of hair. I work in a corporate environment so I was nervous about having something drastic done, but the way Genie adds extensions, the look is so natural. I have received so many compliments, many of which mention how much younger I look. Having a full, beautiful head of hair has done so much for my confidence. She truly is a "Hair Genie" read more

This woman does miracles! I first met Genie back in Dec 2014 hopeless about my hair. In my preliminary consultation i realized how special this lady is. She did an extensive assessment of my life to get the idea of which hair would be the best fit for me. I got my first extensions done in Dec and just few days ago i came back for more. My real hair is growing healthy and strong while im rocking the hair that Miss Genie gave me and I feel great. Besides that Genie is super professional and that she really knows what she is doing, she is a fabulous human being and a funny one as well. I strongly recommend her to everyone (Ms. Genie works with all races, no many do.) read more

Genie is a magnificent magical transformer. I wanted to have long hair and also thicker. She consulted with me on best approach. After ordering my hair (which is real hair) she sewed in three tracks. I came out looking 20 years younger and unrecognizable. If you want to transform yourself, take on a new attitude of confidence and swagger please look up genie. She has been doing this forever and knows exactly what she is doing. It doesn't damage your existing hair and its affordable. She is the best ever!! read more

I've been coming to Genie for over 10 years and I have had the most outstanding service. She is very professional, knowledgeable and very customer oriented and fair in her prices, that's why I highly recommend her services. She is not like other hairstylists that think only in promoting their products and personal tastes. I can only say how good she is in her trade and that is why I continue to use her services. read more

Genie is a miracle worker! I have been going to her for nearly 6 years and she keeps getting better and better. No matter the length that you want, she will accommodate your wishes. There has never been a time that I was not satisfied with her work! She is so knowledgeable and experienced in hair care and hair styles. What I love the most about her is that she considers your individual style whenever she is doing your hair. The transformation that she performs on your hair is truly amazing and she can make you look years younger because of her expertise. I have a "top piece" for my hair and it looks fabulous! I love how she gives instructions on how to maintain your hair after she finishes. She keeps my hair looking beautiful every time I go. She is the best! She has raised the bar for hair extensions. I am fortunate to have found her. She is truly a beautiful person, both inside and out and I consider her a close friend. I will recommend her to anyone looking to get extra length to their hair. She accommodates "any" hair and you will be happy with her results. No matter the race, she will fit your needs. read more

I am so excited about my upcoming hair appointment with Genie!! Had so much fun on my consultation! After 3 surgeries in 2 years I have experienced hair loss. It is growing back in but very slowly...Genie's work is a+ I can tell! I have researched extensions for the past couple of years and have no interest in glue or tape. Her technique is exactly what I have been looking for. For more info check out a video on YouTube from a lady in the UK called "white girl weave", very similar to what Genie does. Her explanation as to why this is the best for your hair has me sold! read more

Do not go here. I called to make an appointment a week in advanced and she asked for my card for a hold, then realized there was an conflict with my schedule so I called an hour after booking to cancel the appointment, still charged me $75 for canceling an appointment a week in advanced. read more

I came to Genie as a referral from a girlfriend who seemed to have the most beautiful hair ever time we were together. I have naturally thin, fine, long blonde hair and while I love it, I've always wanted a little "more." I am a competitive athlete (training 2-3 hours daily) and working gal in corporate America, traveling over 150,000 miles/year, so I needed something that was travel friendly and would save me time in the mornings, but also wouldn't damage my hair as I am a self proclaimed "hair snob." During my initial consult with Ms. Genie, we discussed all of the details of my lifestyle, as well as my concerns in maintenance and upkeep. She took time to explain her unique method to me, and even allowed me to watch her tighten the tracks of another client so I would understand her process as it was new to me. I was fascinated by the intricate detail and was sold on the spot. I am now 5 months into my relationship with Ms. Genie and I love it. My natural hair is growing and even healthier than before because I can go 3-4 days without shampooing it. A little dry shampoo or baby powder on the roots saves me time in the morning, and the curls last for days (even after I cover miles of cardio 6 mornings/week) After the first week, I actually forgot that it wasn't mine, as it looks, feels, and moves like my real hair. Ms. Genie gave me excellent "girlfriendly" guidance on the appropriate length of hair, how to care for it, what would happen if I didn't. She explained the different textures and types of hair based on race and ethnicity, and why it was so important to match my European blonde texture and color. We then opted for 16-18 inches, as that's a few inches longer than my normal hair. It's allowed me to create beautiful bouncy Victoria Secret type curls and because my natural hair is "in between" the tracks, the head/styling damage is minimal. I was skeptical that the hair would last as long as she said, but I'm still wearing the hair from my first visit and expect it to last another 3-4 months. No other method of extensions have allowed me the variety of styling options that I have now, and it's all just the little bit of "more" than I initially wanted to find. Her unique method has saved me so much time and money, and my hair always looks perfectly natural. I love that I can use the same products I've always had without worrying that they'll loosen the glued in bonds. It is like working with my natural hair. I truly look forward to my visits to see Ms. Genie and would recommend her to anyone who needs a little help with their hair. She took my naturally beautiful hair and simply made it a better. read more

I am so pleased with the work of, Genie! I have had a sew-in before and I can tell you that her technique is much different from my past experience such as; I hardly even know it's sewed in my hair, it does not feel tight, its doesn't itch, and it does not bother me while I sleep. It's very comfortable! I can't even explain in words how much better I feel about myself. My hair is beautiful! I have received several compliments from family and friends. When I went to see, Genie, I had short, over processed, bleached hair and I now have long, beautiful hair! With her help and guidance I will be able to restore my real hair back to health while looking stunning with my gorgeous new long locks! THANK YOU, GENIE!!! read more

It has been little over a year since I wrote my first review on Genie and LA Hair and I am still a HUGE fan! When I went to her for the first time in February of 2014, my hair was short (right above my chin), dry, damaged and I had lost hope that it would ever grow back normal and healthy again. I did everything Genie told me to do and now a year later, my hair has grown over 6 inches and is now below my shoulders! I opted to get longer extensions last month and when I saw how much growth I had from my own hair, I was in complete shock! Genie always puts a smile on my face each and every time I go see her, she is a true "Master" with extensions and takes amazing pride in her work. If you have damaged hair and are looking for help to get I healthy again, go see Genie for you extensions!!! She really cares about her clients, her work and I have never been happier with my long, beautiful hair! read more
