I'm so glad I chose Shades of Color--this salon truly prioritizes the health of your hair and consistently offers personalized recommendations to help it thrive. I typically get a silk press and color to cover my grays, and I've recently started getting keratin treatments as well. The best part? They have multiple highly skilled stylists, which is a huge bonus for my busy schedule. I've rotated between a few of them, and every single experience has been amazing. The environment is clean, welcoming, and relaxing--a truly lovely salon experience. My hair is now in the best shape it's been in years! I'm so thankful we have high-quality African American hair specialists right here in this part of town.

Shaay really listened to what I wanted and understood exactly what I was trying to accomplish. She clearly knows how to cut hair well because even the stylist who does my color commented on what a great haircut I had--which is always a great sign! The only thing I would mention is that the Dyson Airwrap felt a little too hot on my hair, so I asked Shaay to use the large round brush instead to avoid putting excess heat on my hair. She was very accommodating. Overall, I was very happy with my experience. Shaay was attentive, understood what I wanted, and gave me a really great cut. I would definitely recommend her!

I…read moreprovided both photos and written notes outlining exactly what I wanted: soft, cool-toned gray blending with fine highlights, to make it easier for root grow out, lighter overall color, and absolutely no red or brassy tones. My natural hair pulls warm, so I emphasized multiple times that I needed ash/cool tones only. I even shared photos of a previous gray blending result that I had done and loved. Her comment was most people just let me do what I want. First photo is my hair and what I requested. The next 2 is what I got. Instead, my hair was colored a dark red/brassy tone--completely opposite of what I requested. When I reached out to have it corrected, the experience became even more concerning. At my follow-up appointment, the stylist was short, stating she didn't have much time to fix it, and became argumentative when I referenced the photos I had originally provided. She also did not disclose to me that she did not charge the same as the website pricing but rather by the hour including the time needed for processing. The situation escalated to the point where she told me to leave and repeatedly said she was calling the police while I was gathering my belongings. I understand that not every color turns out perfectly, but what matters is how it is handled afterward. In this case, she clearly had no intentions of fixing my hair and a complete lack of professionalism. Based on both the result and the experience, I would not recommend.

The owner literally wants to be right so badly that she got another family answering, and turned back to me like, "See?" I was looking for a new salon for my family actually. So glad I got this experience. If an owner behaves this way now, would I even want to have anything to do with this salon? If they mess up your hair or if you don't like how something was done, will they say sorry, it's your fault or misunderstanding? No, thank you!

Although my hair was a bit frizzy at the end, I didn't expect her to be fully knowledgeable in my texture of hair, because I don't believe curls are the salons specialty. Ok so I have waited a few months to review this place as I do not like to make reviews but I…read morecouldn't hold out any longer. I you want to get ripped off go to Rebel hair bar. I came here in August of 2024 as our daughter had a hair fry out emergency and most of it had to be cut out. We came here for extensions as it had some good reviews. I obviously missed these help ones. I will go make more reviews on other sites after this one to hopefully inform others. Anyhow, we were obviously in a desperate state and we were taken advantage of. How so......well, the owner charged me $2000 for my daughter 2 rows of extensions. That was just for the hair! At the time we were new (which I told her) to extensions. This is where we were taken advantage of. Oh and that did not even include the install. When our extension came in it was $600 to install and then we were charged another $60 for a glaze because the extensions she ordered did not even match my daughter's hair. With tip the first appointment was almost $800. So now we are at almost $3000 to have my daughter's extensions installed. Then 8 weeks later they needed to be "moved up" well that was another $620 with tip as she charged us again for a awful color gloss, and she charged to trim the extensions (figured that would be included in the 2k extension price). Anyhow after spending $3420 for 2 appointments I realized I was probably being ripped off. I was right! I have since been to 3 extension salons to get prices for the actual hair and the "move up". First my daughter's real hair (bellameade) should have cost us about $600. Every other salon gave me the same price and I did not tell them what I paid for them. Then most places charge $100-150 max to move a row up. That would be $200-300 To move up my daughter rows. Not $500+ Anyhow what hurts the most is that I was super nice and we were in a desperate situation but we were taken advantage of. Anyhow, I know I probably shouldn't have paid that but as a working mom, I want to help out my family any way possible. Our teen daughter was distraught to the extent she gave up any birthday presents to just have her hair fixed. So not only was I ripped off our 15 year old was as well. I would recommend going to Zeba hair salon in east cobb instead.
