We were hungry for Ramen. We enter the restaurant at the height of lunch hour and we are the only ones, except the server. I've eaten here before, also at height of lunch hour and one other customer, I know the ramen is delicious. This young lady was not a people person. My son ordered a bottle of beer and I could not get a cup of green tea. She made it sound like it was a chore and she would "have to make it." Then came back and said she didn't have barley and couldn't make it. I suggested we leave. My son went to pay for the beer but she opted not to charge him for it. A kind and friendly server will always win at our table. If you don't want our business don't seat us. I've been here twice now, and both times the service was extremely disappointing. The first visit, 2 of the employees were sitting and eating with a toddler sitting on the counter food prep area, right when you walk in~ it felt like I was interrupting their lunch, and they acted like they were bothered having to wait on me. The second time wasn't any better, possibly worse--very little interaction, clearly didn't want to be bothered, and overall just rude. They didn't acknowledge me and when I asked a question, they barely answered. My business partner with me couldn't believe how incredibly rude they were, since it was her first time visiting. The noodles, egg, and chashu were all really good. My only complaint about the broth was that it was a bit bland. The toppings really added a lot of flavors. Overall, a solid dish. The popcorn chicken was also surprisingly really good. It was hot and crunchy and had lots of flavor to it. Now, for me, it was more on the salty side. With the mix of the broth, it was actually a solid meal. Overall, I was surprised by this place. It looks great for where it is, and it seems to be pretty new. Met my friend for lunch at Kyuramen X Tbaar- Jackson MS. I usually wait a month or so to try a new restaurant but I was excited to see this spot was open on Monday I decided to go ahead and give them a try. She ordered spring rolls, which were the typical spring rolls to me. They were hot and had good flavor though. We both got the Sapporo Miso Ramen bowl. I did the combo, which adds a pork bao and Thai iced tea for an extra $6.99. I enjoyed the pork bao. The bun was a little chewy but the sauce and pork belly were really good. I also liked the Thai iced tea. It was like drinking an iced caramel cold brew. We both ordered our bowls spicy, which was a small mistake for me. The flavor was very good but I should have ordered the mild. It was too spicy for me to fully enjoy and my lips were tingling lol. I enjoyed the ingredients in the bowl a lot and would consider ordering this bowl again, but at a lower spice level. I love, love, love the inside of this place! We were seated upstairs in the honeycomb booths and I felt like I was eating in a New York bistro! It's amazing how the space that was once Lost Pizza has been transformed. Service was great. I absolutely LOVE ramen, like LOVE IT, but I ordered my daughter and myself the Chicken Ramen and when we recieved it, the smell of it just completely threw me off, and whenever I tried it omg it was disgusting. My mom ordered the pork pau buns but asked for chicken and they were absolutely disgusting, it was like biting into a boob and it was extreme dry and flavorless. The waitress wasn't very much help at all, I had to constantly go to the front and ask for things like a fork, a small plate, and I didn't even bother asking for a bag to take the crap home I just grabbed one. Whenever it was time to pay I just walked up to the front and I asked could we not be charged for the bun things and was told no because the order had already been put in and it was served to us. So I replied we only took one bite of them and it was nasty. I ended up paying $71 for all the shit just for me, my mom, and daughter to leave still feeling hungry, and now I'm at home throwing up because how bad this food just smelled and tasted. My partner and I dined at Kyuramen this past Friday night. The interior and ambience is very cool. My partner and I really liked honeycomb and Japanese decor. Service was quick and friendly. The food was overall not great, unfortunately. We ordered the honeycomb appetizer sampler, takoyaki, yin yang ramen (combo of miso and tonkotsu ramens), and pork katsu omurice with demi glaze. The honeycomb appetizer was a mixed bag. We liked the broiled eel and chili garlic edamame, the shrimp tempura was good, but the scallop and salmon salad ball just tasted off and we did not finish those. The dishes we would have expected to come out hot were just lukewarm. The takoyaki was good, but would have been benefited from extra frying to make it crispier, and also was lukewarm. My partner thought the yin yang bowl of ramen was below average. She liked the noodles, but the broth was lacking umami and the chashu for the tonkotsu was rubbery. Again, the dish was unfortunately lukewarm. My omurice w/ pork katsu was ok. I liked the egg and the demi glaze was decent, but the fried rice was bad. It tasted like it was not fried but boiled in mushroom broth and very off putting. The pork katsu was tough and i found a chunk of gristle in it, though the katsu was fried well. Overall, we're happy Jackson has a ramen shop. It's great for the area to see food diversity, but just a little disappointing when the food is not executed well and often doesn't taste fresh or is lukewarm. We liked our drinks and wouldn't mind stopping back at the bar for a beer, but probably will not be back for the food. read more

We couldn't decide, so we ordered a whole spread I haven't seen anywhere around here that offers Omurice, and seasalt milk foam drinks, so I'm excited to see that on the menu. What we got: Omurice - Soft scrambled egg over shittake fried rice, topped with Japanese gravy and crispy fried pork cutlet. Shouyu tonkotsu ramen with white garlic - A MUST!! Rich bone broth, tender sliced chasu pork, perfectly 6 min marinated soy sauce egg Spicy tonkotsu ramen - Has some Szechuan peppercorn which gives your tongue a slight numbing sensation, broth and flavor was on point. Fried squid tentacles - lightly battered, super tender, some of the best we've had around. Popcorn chicken - juicy, and tender, lightly breaded, taste like what I'm used to. Pork bao - steamed bao stuffed with slow cooked pork belly. Not bad, I'd get it again. Thai Tea - He thoroughly enjoyed it Brown sugar boba milk tea - Loved it, but probably get it half sweetened next time. Taro smoothie- delicious too, probably get it half sweetened next time. If you've had them before in Houston, it's very much the same! We really didn't expect much since it's their first day and probably has a lot of kinks to work out, but from what we can tell, it was super smooth. Everything was great. We were really disapponted with our visit. We ordered fried squid, fried oysters, and edamame. The fried squid and oysters were bland. Our edamame didn't arrive until after our entrées were served. We also ordered teas, which took 30 minutes to arrive. For our entrées, we had the yin yang ramen and the soft shell rice burger. The ramen was completely unseasoned, and the rice burger was nothing like what was shown on the menu. Rice was soggy, and we could barely eat it. The service was disappointing as well. Well fast forward to now I tried it and I was only intrigued by the omurice. Which is something I admired and it requires good technique in to make the perfect omurice, and let me tell you Kyu definitely nailed it down to the Demi-glace. The lighting and the setting was very well designed only thing that was annoying were the gnats ofc cause it's summer but they were a nuisance here to say the least lol. We got the ramen as well I ordered the tonkotsu regular my fiancé got the one with bonito flakes. In my opinion the ramen lacked flavor but that's just from my palate. It was missing that important tonkotsu mouth feel that's usually packed with flavor but here I missed it reminiscent of water and milk consistency. I tasted my fiancées bowl and she liked it but it tasted just like mine but just very very overpowering because of the bonito. But she doesn't the same palate. Here is my review: the waiter apparently never worked in restaurant. Didn't have proper communication and didn't check on table. He didn't even know the menu. The food runner was clumsy and as he was passing out the food his hands touched our food. I worked in restaurant setting that's not acceptable but I didn't complain. They forgot one of our drinks. We order milk tea, but got roasted tea instead. We asked where milk he said it's foam. Bruhh- I know what a foam is. lol what a joke. That's not milk foam. It's roasted tea with no milk. They not only have super cute honeycomb seating, but also semi-private booths, bar chair and regular table setups... something for everyone. This is a date night, family and girls night out spot wrapped in one. If you don't want to eat TBAAR is right by the door for all your freshly made drinks. I can see myself popping in for a lemonade. Fa sho! Our usual ramen spot was in Cultivation Hall, which closed some months back, so we've been on the lookout for something new. After living in the DC area and experiencing top notch ramen our standard is high...Kyuramen does not disappoint. The soup is well made and full of flavor! We also tried the pork bao buns, gyoza and Japanese cherry blossom jelly for dessert. Appetizers are good but the service is even better. Before I took 2 bites of my bao bun our ramen was on the table. Several of the staff (2 weren't even our servers) checked on us and not once did we wait for a straw, utensil or whatever because of how attentive they were. Tell me you want me to come back without telling me you want me to come back! Unfortunately, I was so into my food that I did not recall anyone's name. But I'm sure it doesn't matter who you get...that staff is well trained and equipped with ear pieces. What you can't say is that you were ignored, food arrived cold or your order was wrong. The only issue I had (and it's very minor) were the lemon seeds. Hear me when I say the mango lemonade is delicious. TBAAR - you did that! So good that I took one to go. However, it has WAY too many seeds. Push that straw all the way down and hold it in place if you don't want one coming up. I appreciate it being freshly squeezed, I do, but run that through a strainer or something once. Overall...my son declared we had a new ramen spot and I agree. Time and money well spent. I ordered the black garlic - tasty, I liked the favor, not too strong, perfectly blended. Price: 2 stars. With only 3 thin slices of pork, half eggs, bamboo shoots, corns, with noodles, I think it's overpriced. I wouldn't mind paying $12, but not $17 for the ramen. The default tips is set to 20%. As I just come to Jackson, MS for work, not sure if it's common for 20%. The places that I went were 18%. For a simple lunch with a bowl of ramen, my final bill is over $21.00 for 1 person. Just tried the try ramen restaurant in north Jackson. The setup is like something you would see in Tokyo with three levels of seating along the wall and private rooms. I the over all decorations are very nice. The ramen was very good with a nice variety of options. The maga has ever but kimchee in it and has a nice base. The bun were warm with juicy meat and lots of flavor. They offer a combination with a bun and a Thai tea for a few dollars more which is a good deal. The service is promote and accurate with a friendly staff. I will return. read more
