I am relatively new in town-and wanted to find a local sushi spot. I found this place off of social media-I ordered the steak hibachi and two of their sushi rolls. The hibachi was tasty-good temperature and good portion size. But the sushi-let's just say there was a lot left to be desired. Stopped by on a Wed for the all you can eat lunch. The sushi was better than average but not stellar which is to be expected when it's AYCE. Clear soup was good but served in a plastic to-go cup. Seaweed salad was served hot which was odd but still tasty. My friend had shrimp hibachi. They said it and the rice were good. I'd give them 4 or 5 stars but we preferred to sit outside. Initially they didn't want us to and had to call the owner for permission. They have tables outside. WTH are do they think those tables are used for? My suspicion is that they thought I was going to share my AYCE sushi with friend. We got the same feeling we get being cavity searched when leaving Costco. It was quite crappy. Told them we were sitting outside or going elsewhere. They conceded. Very s****y treatment of customers. Immediate suspicion and expectation of customer theft. My sister took my daughter and I to this place a two days ago for takeout. I ordered the chicken hibachi with a Pepsi to drink and the next day I had stomach cramps, watery diarrhea, and vomiting. It's good thing my 2 year old daughter is picky otherwise she would've been sick too. I don't know what happened to this place because I been here once before and never got sick. I give them I solely went based on the beautiful pics from Instagram. I'd been debating over the last several months whether or not to stop in. Exhaust of previous bad reviews, but those pics just confirmed I had to try. I was disappointed!!! I ordered the Tiger Eyes and granted maybe they wouldn't have looked exactly like the pic, but I expected close to it. Also the texture is so one note, needs something crunchy. The Red Samurai Roll was so small and they left out several ingredients. I paid $11 for it. It was NOT worth the price. The fried Gyoza was over fried. I do NOT recommend them. There are other places with more affordable and better tasting sushi. Also their presentation is always on par... it's worth the drive to go to Flowood and eat at Osaka or Brandon and eat at Asahi. read more

I wasn't that impressed with the sushi or this restaurant to be honest. I live in Jackson but drove out to Madison for it because of the high Yelp reviews. I don't think the place is anything to write home about. I was expecting a nice evening on a date but the restaurant looks like a Panera bread. It's BYOB, too. Once again, have a disappointment with Red Samurai. The food quality is average to better than average, but the predictability of service is well below average. When we take the time to pre-order so that the order can be ready 10 minutes before we get here, and upon arrival we learn that they are cleaning the kitchen and they will let us know when the order will be ready..... Not to take out dining experience that I expect or desire. Consistent quality and timeless are what I need for takeout, and Red Samurai does not provide that. When passing the food across the counter, there was no apology, no empathy for our long wait. We will try every other Asian restaurant in the area before we return. read more

I love this place. There was only 1 guy working on a Friday night, and he was killing it. Answering the phone, bussing tables and taking orders at the counter, and he was still super friendly. This was our first visit to Red Samurai. The noodles and sushi were really good. My only critic is about the rice, while the portion was more than enough, I do feel like it could had more flavor. Otherwise we were completely satisfied with our meal! We'll be back to try more. read more

I decided to try Red Samurai based on previous Yelp reviews. I had sushi only and ordered the Sushi pizza and salmon lovers roll. So the main thing that jumped out at me was that my avocado pieces were brown. I get that avocados oxidize, but for presentation purposes restaurants can't be dishing out brown avocado. I should also note that I arrived after 8pm, so maybe that's an end of day issue. The sushi pizza is a cool concept and enough food for one. Plus it comes with a California roll. The salmon lovers roll was OK, but I didn't think the mango was balanced well. I am going back. I look forward to trying the hibachi. Oh, and I wish they put chopsticks in my carryout bag! read more

Good place for a quick hibachi meal. This place falls in between OEC and a Hibachi restaurant that cooks at the table in front of you. The vegetables include broccoli which is a nice touch. The pink sauce is good, but they no longer have the hot pepper paste which is a must have item for me. The closest they have is a bottle of Sriracha. Prices are reasonable. read more

Red Samurai was great. I've been waiting to try it because I have friends who say it's great and go several times a week. It was exactly ass I expected- and OEC type Japanese. Not too Fancy. Styrofoam plates, as expected. However, they had the mother of all sushis- a sushi burrito. I didn't even scan the rest of the menu after that. I knew what my belly was destined for. Mine was tuna. Just had a very unhappy take out experience. A simple order of combination Hibachi with extra chicken. Arrived when the app said it would be ready at 6:11 and they could not find my order. Eventually found, they told me 5 more minutes. I walked out 35 minutes later. While there, I witnessed a waitr driver helping them get her pick up order correct, frustrated patrons in the restaurant, and other take out customers who were visibly unhappy. We really enjoy the quality of the food here but have I had long wait at the restaurant. Tonight, I also had friends who came in and ordered at the counter when I came in to pick up, and their food in the restaurant arrived there tables before my takeout order was ready. Me and the wife stopped in on a trip back home. We walked in and the staff was friendly enough however, not the friendliest people I have ever encountered. I ordered the chicken and steak hibachi dinner and she ordered some sushi. The food came out very quickly and was hot and fresh. The chicken and steak were on par with any other Japanese steakhouse but, for the price I cannot complain but, my wife said the sushi was delicious. We will most likely stop back in whenever we are in the area. If you are looking for a tasty Japanese steakhouse without all the glitz, glamour, and price of the other places I would check this place out! read more

While the food is good, the upfront staff needs better training. She gets easily confused and flustered. After waiting 25 minutes for a take out, the lady up front told me somebody "took my order". I had the 3 roll lunch combo (California, spicy shrimp, and crunchy crab) and it was all very good. I had the Ginger salad with my order and it was good also. The dressing seemed to be a little watery compared to others I have had, but still had a good flavor. My husband got the chicken and steak hibachi. He had soup with his meal and it was a nice change from typical Japanese places. Service was friendly and our food came out quickly. Excellent sushi/hibachi fast-casual dining experience. We had the all you can eat sushi dinner special. The soup came in a large bowl, and the sushi came with generous pieces of fish but also a lot of rice (fills you up). Self serve soda fountain and plastic utensils. It all tasted wonderful, and the donuts were fantastic. read more

The food was fine but as we were eating there was a group of high school baseball players eating next to us. When they left a worker in the restaurant came over and cleaned the table. He checked to see if each salad had been eaten. If they hadn't he took them back to serve again. Yuck! read more

Heather D..based on what you said, you must've had a friend fired by the owner and are out for revenge? We have been coming to Red Samurai for the past few years. We have always found the restaurant to be very clean and the food to be top notch for a fast food hibachi place. I have seen a few times where the new hires working the cash register think they can have an attitude and play on there phones instead of service with a smile. They have not lasted long because they think they can bring McDonald's to this place...wrong! I think this is what Heather D is describing as "The employees" All I have to say is I've never been disappointed with the food, cleanliness and professional manner at which the owner operates. I, myself, am a business owner and understand what it is like to hire the generation that feels they can do nothing and get paid. Dishonest! I tried to redeem my voucher purchased here through yelp last night. The gentleman at the register who I believe must have been owner or manager by the way he presented himself told me they were no longer running their deal on yelp and preceded to pull out his phone to show me the deal was no longer offered. I said I understand that I'm not trying to purchase it now. I showed him where I've already purchased the deal and it's valid through 7/3/2017. $20 for $30 voucher. Even if the voucher had expired which it hasn't it states you will still receive your $20 original investment. He wouldn't ever give that. He kept showing me his phone where the offer isn't being sold anymore. Not the issue. So all of the voucher that were sold are not being honored by them! The vouchers are not only good as long as the businesses are currently running the special. They are good for full value until they expire and there isn't a time limit to using your original investment. They aren't honoring either! That is dishonest and shady. There's no telling how much they profited off of scamming people from this site. read more
