Awesome idea, smooth delivery and drop-off process, great customer-service on the part of the "surfer", but the policy and customer service through the Help chat was pretty rough. I rented a car through Kyte, and originally had my reservation for about 4-5 days. Plans ended up changing so that I didn't really need the car, so I went to see if I could return it early for a refund (if I couldn't get a refund, I was just going to keep the car for the full reservation, no biggie). I go through the process of changing the reservation in the app, and on the "review changes" page, it tells me that I'll be processed a refund back to my card - shows my card information, the total refund, price breakdown, etc. Great!! I even show my partner, as we were both wondering if that was even possible. So I change the reservation, and plan to turn the car in early. Once I turn the car in early, I look through my card transactions, and notice that the full price of the reservation has been charged and completed. Still, don't think much of it, but I end up reaching out to someone through the "Help" tab in the app. I figure maybe it'll be processed as a separate charge. I end up telling the woman on the other end of the conversation what happened, and she proceeds to tell me that "policy" is that refunds are done in "credits" for Kyte. At this point, I am confused, as the app explicitly showed that I'd be getting a REFUND, not a CREDIT. Not to mention I showed it to someone else for confirmation - I literally would not have gone through with it if it did not say I would get a refund. I tell her this, and all she has to offer is that it could've been a bug, and that there was nothing that could be done about it, and then asked if I had a screenshot for them to look at so they could fix said "bug". We go back and forth a few more times, still no solution. Honestly bizarre - you would think a company would follow through with something promised, even if that promise was a "bug", and then fix that bug. Not only that, this practice of taking peoples money, and only offering credits in return so that they are forced to do business with you again, is borderline robbery and should seriously be reconsidered. I ended up disputing the charge on my card for the refund that I was supposed to get, according to their app. Hopefully that actually goes through. It's ridiculous that 1) a bug like that exists if their policy is actually only credits, and 2) that they don't follow-through for the sake of customer satisfaction when bugs like this do happen. There's bound to be bugs with any new app/system/etc., but you don't keep customers by force-taking their money. You keep them by working with them through these issues. If it hadn't been for the above situation, I would've happily continued to use Kyte as what they offer is incredibly convenient and competitive price-wise. But I won't be back if this practice remains the same (though I may have to at least once to get to use my money that they gave me back as "credit"). read more

My rental car was hit by a driver that ran a stop sign. There was hardly any damage, the other driver took full responsibility and I had purchased full liability coverage with my Kyte rental. It's been 8 months and have still not been refunded by $500 deposit. I filed the incident report with claims@drivekyte.com in December 2021, was finally given an update in March that the other driver's insurance had settled the claim but I have still not been refunded the $500. I've sent at least a dozen emails to support@drivekyte.com and claims@drivekyte.com but no one responds. Avoid this company. They are clearly disorganized and untrustworthy and will hold your deposit indefinitely. read more

We found the best rate through Kyte vs all other car rental options, delivery of the car ended up being ahead of schedule which was amazing for our travel schedule, and drop off was effortless. I wish I could give zero stars in a review. I love the concept of Kyte, however the execution was terrible and the customer service was non-existent. As outlined in their website, the key aspects of Kyte are 1) Rental cars delivered to your door; and 2) convenience and consistency. Based on my experience I can safely say that Kyte has a long way to go before they hit either of those two goals. On the day of the reservation I ended up waiting over 1.5 hours past the initially scheduled pick-up time, and after all that time I never received confirmation from Kyte whether the car was coming/delayed/cancelled. After the initial 30 minute window, I began contacting customer support using both the in-app and phone line options to try to get clarity on whether the car drop-off would still occur, what time it would occur (if at all), and what options for cancellations would be possible. After spending an hour on the automated wait line just to have it hang up on me, as well as never receiving a response or status update through the app, I decided to cancel the reservation entirely. To their credit they did provide a full refund, however I never received any information on what went wrong or why it was so delayed. To my initial points I don't consider Kyte a rental car company if they struggle to actually provide a rental car, and the only consistency was that they had almost no non-automated customer service options. Although my tone may come off overly harsh this was truly a disappointing experience as I had made several plans to enjoy Boston and the surrounding areas, and having to change several plans and tickets last minute while getting no communication just sucks. Based on where I was staying and the inordinate amount of time spent trying to get information on my reservation, it would have actually been faster to take the T into Logan and grab a rental car from one of their counters. At least there I would have had a real customer service representative to help with any challenges I ran into. If Kyte is trying to become the Uber for rental cars, I would imagine their service should theoretically be better than the alternative already available. read more

I had a situation at airport and could not contact them due to that. They canceled my appointment and told me the closest appointment would be in next 2 hour. Taken my 25$ for canceling fee which they are not going to waive. If you need reliable rental car, avoid here. read more

You can rent a car at the same or lower prices, but you don't have to go to the car rental place--they drop it off then pick it up... what's the downside here? I've only used them once, but I certainly didn't find one! Not only do you save the time of going to rental places, but the amount of time it took to book and pay via the app was also much faster than if I went to a rental place and there was no other customers. It was incredibly smooth. Also, I was doing this bc my car was in the shop and it ended up taking an extra day. I opened the app, messaged them if i could extend a day, and they said no problem--this took maybe 90 seconds. What else can you ask for? read more

This was the most horrible experience ever! Booking the car was ok but technology for uploading verification docs was the worst! The links they sent were broken and the technology apparently being used is antiquated. Perhaps not Android friendly. After trying to upload docs for 2 hours we cancelled out if pure frustration. read more

I had a last minute (day of) need for a vehicle and after searching for options I came along Kyte. Their promptness during arrival and pick up of the car to my home was excellent and I felt very secure renting from them. Their app is very easy to use which was an added bonus! I have rented a car with Kyte but as I was trying to change the date of returning (2 days less rental), surprisingly the system came with a USD 85 charge. I talked with the team member (via chat) to understand why they were charging me more and she explain that as I had canceled my booking (I never did!!! I just changed the date) and rebooked the rental, the price changed. I am trying for days to get an more coherent answer from Kyte but their costumer service is terrible. My rental is in October and I am afraid thar I will have more trouble with them as I was reading the reviews here. Was told that I can switch my payment mon check out via a chat, I even had a screenshot of the conversation, then when I went to do that, told me I could not. I have read some of the reviews about bad service, but my experience was nothing like those reviews. My service was great! I had no issues with car drop off or pickup to my apartment in Boston. Kyte kept me notified via text message during car drop off and pickup and both were on time and to my location. The car was new and very clean. Used kyte for the first time in Boston and it was by far the most seamless car rental experience I've had. The pick up and drop off service was a game-changer, and customer service was A++. I booked a car pretty last minute and had to change the pick up time but customer service responded within a few minutes and was willing to accommodate, even on Thanksgiving day. Car was very clean.
