Stopped in for a quick lunch with friends around noon the service was fast & very friendly! We tried the bad boy roll, alibaba roll, Oceanside roll & rock n roll they were all very tasty I think my favorite of those was the Alina bar it had marinated red onions on the top that were flavorful, definitely a nice spot for sushi

Service was on point. Things were clean. There were areas that had supplies that weren't organized but that's all. Food was fab. I noticed someone said something about 5 pieces for a roll instead of 8- it says that it is 5 pieces for particular rolls on the menu. We had one five piece roll and it was great! We order three rolls and we're happy with all of them!

I ordered a "Baked-Salmon Sushi." Tell me, does that look baked to you? Nope.

Ordered a take-out. First-time here from LA and thought i'd try it. Food: ordered a BAKED salmon sushi. It isn't baked...[see picture] Service: Great, no complaints. Quick, friendly Ambiance: Welcoming, good lighting. Overall: I will come back and see if they make the "Baked-Salmon Sushi" correct next time around.

First time here with Nanci I. who recommended this place to me. We went for ladies night out with her bestie that rolled into town for the weekend. Everything was amazing from the ambiance, service, & to the cuisine. The garlic edamame is sooo scrumptious and I don't usually eat a lot of soy. It was part of my friends' order and I tried a few. The aroma and flavor were divine. The best edamame I'd ever had actually! I got the Jasmine hot tea and the baked Salmon California roll and also tried the rolls my friends ordered as well. The veggie tempura was delicious and I truly enjoyed it with the sauce. Made to order & perfection AND let's not forget how steamy hot/fresh everything came to us from the kitchen! H20 constantly being offered and topped off. I even branched out and tried the raw wasabi for the first time and man very little goes a Looooong way! It will clear up your sinuses real fast! I will definitely come back here!

This location is so cute with a lot of seating. Our waiter was amazing he did a great job. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a great dinner. Excellent service made all the difference. The food was delicious and they're very quick with serving. They had son many options on the menu with quirky names. Overall great experience with fantastic service and delicious food!

This place is great and might just be the best sushi place in Oceanside. The regular rolls are pretty cheap ($6 for a Cali) and the specialty rolls are ridiculously good. What amazed me was the sashimi special, which has this seasoning that reminds me of barbecue! There are lots of booths and seating at the bar, and the takeout service was busy! Highly recommend, and you'll definitely be seeing me there again.

Only 5 pieces- chef must have eaten the other half lol

Tried this place last week and was pretty disappointed. I ordered the ex girlfriend roll and for some reason I only got 5 pieces. Usually a roll has 8 pieces so it was pretty disappointing to open the box to find 5 lol it was pretty good but looked and tasted like half of a roll. My husband got the beef yakisoba and the flavor was good but the beef was more like ground beef so that was also disappointing. Probably won't order from here again unfortunately.

Delicious and fresh sushi with a really warm atmosphere. The two servers that helped us were both super kind and quick with taking our orders. Booth seating, sushi bar and normal tables create a great variety for all party sizes. Pricing is also very fair and there's tons of free parking in the shared parking lot. Highly recommend!

Visiting family and was looking forward to some legit sushi and ramen. Kyodai provided both superbly. Both took me back to Tokyo. I liked my first visit so much I went back again. The staff is very friendly.

My friends order this sampler plate. Unsure of the name, but it was AMAZING! Salmon belly melted in your mouth!

The unassuming exterior and simple but elegant interior greeted us with low lighting and quiet atmosphere. We sat at a table of 6 and immediately knew we were in for a treat. We all had the 10 course meal and although I can't do justice to describing each item- let's just say every bite is a treat for the tastebuds. You could do substitutions and add ons. I added wagyu for additional 55$ but I'm sure the duck would of been just as good. The pork too surprised me as my family raised pigs as a kid and I don't usually eat but the pork dish- with pigs that were raised with special diet and spa-like treatment/ well... the stories added to the dish. Things like pine were unexpected delights. The drinks were all amazing and we tried mixed drinks, sake, and something I rarely see and is worth noting- great mocktails. The service was outstanding and everyone was friendly, polite, knew their job, and quietly was there between each course with fresh silverware. All was completed with a sense of effortlessness. My daughter mentioned to her dad she was waiting on a drink and the manager heard and without hesitation said it was on the way/ and on the house. We chuckled as the bill of course was more than we had ever spent on a single meal, but enjoyed every minute. What struck me about ambiance is we felt as if we were the only ones there although I saw several tables on other side of restaurant. In addition although 6 of us in a circle - we were able to converse with each other with ease. Come with an open mind and be prepared for the best meal you may ever have. Pricey but worth it if you want to create a memory sure to please.

On this last visit, we had the chance to meet the owner and chef, and they, along with the entire staff, were incredibly kind and attentive. It was my first time dining at the bar counter, and the experience was just as lovely as ever. We ordered some of our go-to favorites, but also tried a few new dishes like the beef tartare, which was fantastic. The chef's special with green mussels and spicy coconut curry both looked amazing and tasted even better. We finished with a dessert that was light and perfectly balanced between tart and sweet. As always, an incredible experience--we'll definitely be back again soon.

Nearly everything we tried was bursting with flavor, well-deserving of the Michelin Bib Gourmand designation the restaurant has earned the past five years. The food is served family style, and the cocktail menu is unique. Conveniently, there is also a good amount of street parking around the restaurant, even on bustling weekends. To start, I had the black rose, an agave wine cocktail with black sesame, rose orgeat, and egg white. I'm not sure the blend of flavors worked, but it was certainly unique. We also tried the gypsy king (their version of a spicy margarita) and the pandan, lime, and coconut mocktail, both of which were decent. For the small plates, we agreed that the charred eggplant and sea bream ceviche were stellar. The sambal shined with the eggplant, and the cassava chips paired perfectly with the makrut lime and coconut cream in the ceviche. The roti was just alright - nothing to write home about. The pork belly skewers were juicy and well-flavored, although we had finished all our small and large plates by the time the skewers came out (we had to ask about them - the waiters/kitchen likely forgot about our skewers, as multiple tables seated after us received theirs before we did). The ayam penyet, nasi goreng, and beef rendang were delicious and well thought-out dishes. We agreed that while the menu is heavily Indonesian-inspired and the food features the flavors of Southeast Asia, the dishes are quite Americanized. Dija Mara shines in presenting a typically uncommon cuisine in the U.S. in an easily accessible manner, which is laudable. Would recommend everyone try at least once.

The pacing of the meal caught me off guard in the best way. This was the fastest service I have ever experienced at a sushi spot, and we go out for sushi often. Speed didn't come at the expense of quality. The fish was crisp and fresh, and every roll had its own well thought out flavor profile. The variety here sets them apart. This is a long review so if you are here for my experience at rosewood, scroll to the second…read moreparagraph, if you'd like to read everything (which I encourage), please do. Firstly, was appalled to see that this negative Nancy, supposedly a "regular", was operating at a 'lightbulb-in-a-power-outage' level of thinking." Just wanted to clarify, as someone who comes to rosewood a couple times a month, and always had such a wonderful time. Before i get into my review (second paragraph), I'd like to share some of my critical thinking skills with the few that decided to leave subpar reviews about this establishment. 1: The sidewalk is PUBLIC, everybody has the right to be on PUBLIC property, even the homeless. No one can tell anyone to leave if they are on public property, even if they are in front of a business, simple logic. 2: This is a small business, so what they charge a dollar for an ounce of their delicious sauce, small profit margins = can't cut corners as much as large cooperations, common sense. 3: There's different music every night, that attracts crowds of ethnicities, race, sex, etc., can't be u happy when a certain class of people show up wanting to listen to music. And my last point before I actually give my review; 4: This is Oceanside, you cannot go a single day without witnessing some homeless people doing weird or crazy stuff! This isn't La Jolla. If you are supposedly a "regular", one bad experience, that is out of the owner's hands, shouldn't cause you to have such a tantrum. Now while everyone has a right to their own opinion, let's use critical thinking and common sense before we bash a small, family business. Review: Rosewood, the few times I have been, have been exceptional. While the ramen may be bland a couple of times, let the owner know, as he always welcomes feedback! Other than some little bumps, the owner (Josh), is a one man show running this business. We've been here a few times when it was busy and he always tried his best to keep cool, even while serving, bussing and pouring drinks meanwhile the restaurant is full of people. If you're coming here for the ramen, you can't go wrong with the basic miso. It comes with pork and you could add chicken to it for $5 dollars. The J3, which is a mix of the house made, red and white sangria is TO DIE FOR. Additionally, the dirty bird fries, and the filet mignon with noodles (which I had on two separate occasions), were just as beautifully prepared and delicious as they looked on the menu. The ambience, it exceptionally beautiful. There is art surrounding the whole restaurant, with even a gallery that leads you to the restrooms, definitely would come in, just to check out the artwork. We came on a Sunday, so a slower day, and there was this band named "FNK" that was playing... WONDERFUL. They played some cover songs and sang especially well. Enjoyed every song they played. The service, was amazing as always, with Diego taking our orders and being prompt with what we needed. Overall, experience at rosewood so far has been nothing but excellent. Don't let all these negative reviews fool you. You can't come to a small business expecting perfection every single time, especially if it's the first time. 10/10!

We settled on Oceanside in hopes of finding good food, as our weekend (end of Feb) had been full of a poor results. This place came up as very well rated on Yelp, as my friend and I searched for places to eat. It was a Saturday night with great weather. The red flag I should have read into was that the lone guy working that night was a one man show. He was doing it all in the front of the house. I tried to get us a table to sit outdoors but he just couldn't get to the table to clean it. After about 20 minutes he finally came and just moved all the bowls to the empty table next to it and wiped it down. When my friends finally arrived we all sat down to sticky menus that had NO descriptions. What you see on the website is exactly what they have on the menu. We had to wait to ask the server/host what each menu item meant. It took a while to get our food from when we ordered. Thank goodness for good company, I didn't clock it. The food options were limited and keep in mind for those who have children, most of the options come with a spicy kick, you'll have to explicitly tell them "no spicy"! There was a party who had been sitting for a while before we got there and a kiddo took a bite of pizza and was crying, screaming from it being so spicy. With my ramen the portions are tiny for what you pay, with 1 piece of meat, not enough noodles. Flavor wise it was spicy and bland. We ordered a couple appetizers which were not very good. The edamame was overly salty and soaked in soy sauce and the karaage was probably the only good thing and that was a little overfried. No one in our party finished our food or took any of the leftovers home. Save yourself the trip, not worth trying the "unique foods".
