This is not a traditional café. I was looking for a breakfast place on the way to the Temple. This was right on the way so I thought I'd give it a shot. But when I got inside, I realize it's actually a Chinese restaurant. I'm ordering anyway. We'll see how god or bad the food is. I'm ordering the chicken and cheese omelette. I asked the server what kind of cheese. She said It was at the yellow kind. I asked if there was options. She said no one kind of shoes. I got coffee and it was not very strong and the cream came and little creamers like you get at a gas station. So I know this is not going to be an amazing, dining experience, but a boys got to eat. I asked for water when I first got here with coffee. She repeated it back to me and I said yes cold water and hot coffee. She didn't bring me water. The omelette wasn't the tastiest but it had a lot of chicken. Which was nice. I got water when I asked again.

Tea.

Better than Bon's Off Broadway. Kyle's is the very definition of greasy spoon. An abundance of cheap, fried breakfast and lunch items fill the menu. Your choice of Chinese and/or Western. We ordered their Sunrise breakfast featuring 2 pancakes, 2 sausages, 2 bacon strips, two eggs, 2 toast and hash-browns for about $7. As you can see in the photos, if the pancakes had been on the griddle for another 10 seconds, they would've been burnt. Everything else, however, came out okay but nothing exceptional. We also ordered their chicken chow mein and sweet and sour shrimp combo. The portion of chow mein was quite large, and very greasy, as to be expected. I did not find an abundance of shredded chicken, however. The shrimp was heavily battered and crispy. The tangy sweet and sour sauce gave it a nice kick. This place was quite busy with several locals/regulars who knew each other by name. Service was excellent. Parking on the side streets nearby was free and abundant, even on a Saturday morning. Not the best place to eat, but you can expect to leave very full for under $10 per person.

It's a very strange feeling to be eating food that tastes ok while sensing an inherent warning about the quality of the ingredients. Similar to the feeling you get when you are drunk and happy, but know that any more booze will result in disaster, Kyle's Café offers cheap diner style food that is likely all cooked on the same, unwiped grill. But some people have a large tolerance to aging grease, and those fortunate few will find that Kyle's is a decent, very friendly restaurant just south of Commercial Drive Skytrain Station. With a large menu and plenty of "Chinese-Canadian" options, it's a fine venue to take a friend for a slow afternoon breakfast. The seating is nice, with some tables on raised platforms next to the plate glass storefront windows. And the décor is pleasant and quaint, almost a perfect recreation of the Chinese-Canadian theme. Perfect for story telling and undisturbed gossip sessions, Kyle's Café has its own brand of class, it just has nothing to do with the quality of the food. But what can you expect from a $2.95 breakfast?

Yum! Loved this stuff.

Food was great. Had the stir fried beef in soy sauce flat rice noodle and the bbq prok fried rice. Coffee was topped often and service was friendly.

But first well stop at the little side kitchen where you can help yourself to coffee, tea, soda and water. For a charge they also have wine and beer available. This is also where you hang your key when you leave the house so they know who is here. We got the Under the Apple Tree Room which was spacious and nicely decorated. It even had its own private yard. Also has gas fireplace, jacuzzi style tub and stand up shower. The heated bathroom floor was a nice touch. If you get tired of your room you can also enjoy sitting outside on a deck or the living room. We really enjoyed relaxing on the couch back in our room in front of the fire place. Morning came a bit too soon. Was hard to get up out of the super comfortable down blankets on the King bed. The breakfast was ready though and included three delicious courses. Polenta with almonds, banana kirsch, and smoked salmon with poached egg on toasted croissant. Yum. We arrived and placed ourselves on the waitlist. We waited about 45-60 minutes total. But boy oh boy was it worth it! The restaurant is a Mediterranean inspired breakfast/lunch/ brunch. The interior was warm and inviting. The hostess and our server were both very sweet and provided great customer service. We started with coffees. My husband ordered espresso and I had a salted caramel latte. Both coffees were great - they had bold flavor and the froth on my latte was fluffy (bonus points for the cute latte art). For our entrees, my husband ordered the Fricassée. The short rib was tender and delicious! The tomato sauce was also amazing. Just wanted to note that the sauce was a bit more on the tangy side. I ordered the Cassoulet. The tomato sauce on this one was my favorite as it was a perfect balance between tangy and savory. I also really enjoyed the white beans which helped add to the body of the meal. The grilled focaccia is perfection! They're crisp and crunchy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. We used the focaccia to devour every last bit of the tomato sauces from our plates. I don't really run into Mediterranean breakfast often. But Medina Cafe and these shakshuka inspired dishes have definitely won us over. I'd come back and wait in line all over again. Yum!

Crispy, flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and the kind of dish I would come back for all by itself. The Les Boulettes were packed with flavor and so satisfying. The waffle was also perfection, which says a lot because I'm really not a sweets person. The latte felt downright lavish. Smooth, rich, and beautifully done. The martini definitely did the trick. Between the food, drinks, and overall experience, Medina Cafe is absolutely worth a visit. The service was fantastic, I'd happily come back, especially for those potatoes because I'm still thinking about them!

The staff genuinely goes above and beyond to care of your every need -- even putting out blackout paper on one of our doors because we were getting too much natural light (wild!) Special shoutout to Roland, our bartender at the Botanist, for his incredible hospitality. He had us laughing all night and felt so welcome as Vancouver first timers. The food and drink at Botanist are amazing. Even the breakfast included with FHR is quite good. Room service chicken wings were delivered quickly and piping hot both times we ordered it. We had the Ofuro tub room on the 18th floor and it was dreamy to wind down our days watching the sea planes take off and land. The view is stunning. If you're a foodie, into cocktails, and appreciate food service this is definitely the right hotel for you. If you're sensitive to sound, try to get a room on a higher floor.

We were having gorgeous weather in Vancouver so we decided to eat on the covered patio. The place is pretty cozy, but was only moderately busy when we went. They have a pretty good menu with lots a Benedict's and a build your own breakfast option that seemed pretty nice. I took the recommendation from our server and got the bacon benny. It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. It had the perfect amount of lemon, butter ratio for my taste and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was good, not to salty, and the english muffin was, well, an English muffin from a package that they toasted and out on the plate. I did splurge and paid the extra dollar for the truffle potatoes and they were very good. I love truffle oil on potatoes so I am a sucker for it whenever its on a menu. You just cant mess it up. Fried potatoes, truffle oil, and a lemon squeeze to bring it all together. My wife got the brunch burger and she loved it. It was a messy breakfast burger that a lot of places have but this one was done right. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. We would just avoid the salads and fresh fruit and stick to the food they cook.
