This place is always hot, especially on Friday nights. Luckily we were able to get a table for 5 quickly. The hosts are always very friendly, welcoming and accommodating to my children that have a variety of allergies. They do their best to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience and meal. This place is good for groups, pricing is moderate but reasonable. Parking can be scarce depending on the time, you might have to walk a block but it's worth it. We got some wings, sushi (which is always a must and you can't go wrong) and some momo. The momo was a miss this time as it was very charred and tasted as such. I appreciate the hospitality here and will return and highly recommend.

We like this restaurant. Service is very friendly, even if a bit slow. The food is yummy. I'm going to say it, we've been to Japan and it's not as good. The pork in the katsu dish should be thick and moist. Still, we enjoy our meals every time we come.

Pork belly ramen YUM! The grilled squid was Exquisite. Just realized how close that word is to squid lol.

This place is absolutely fantastic! I've actually been coming here for a few years with my friends for happy hour. Recently, I started coming for the food dinner and realized I was missing a lot. Their menu is very thoughtful in each dish has a nice variety of textures and flavors. I will say that their Ramen is one of the best in town. I think really what sets it apart is the broth being super in depth and they grill the pork belly which makes it really smoky and tender. This time I branched out and got the grilled squid as well and it was exceptional. The soy ginger glaze on it was incredible. The only few downsides I think I've noticed is service can be a little bit hit or miss which is surprising how small the places. Even when sitting at the bar, it took a little bit to get their attention. Also, I've tried a few of the cocktails and for the main part they just taste like alcohol with a soda. They sound extremely creative on the menu, but the balance isn't there. Either way I've typically gotten sake as they have a nice little selection. Overall, I love the whole vibe of this place. I always enjoy being able to see people make sushi. It's very open yet. Doesn't get overwhelmingly loud. Definitely my top three Japanese spots in Minneapolis.

I've been visiting on and off since 2017-18. The menu has a lot of great options inspired by Japanese cuisine. Parking is street and can be tough when busy. The inside is nice and I have always had good staff experiences and recommendations. Korokke - (this was a special) 4x fried potato croquettes. Corn, peas, carrots, kewpie mayo, tonkatsu sauce and bonito flakes. Really yummy almost like comfort food. Tsukune Skewers- chicken meatballs. Delish Shishito Skewers - Japanese chill pepper I love shishito peppers. Really good. Kaisen Yakisoba - Japanese egg noodles, shrimp, scallops, cabbage, onion, poached egg, red ginger. Japanese mayo, seaweed flakes. A lot of noodles and good flavor. Botaneb - spot prawn - unique but not a normal order. More fun to try. Suzuki - (under the Oshizushi part of the menu) sea bass, shiso leaf, black pepper, side of yuzu ponzu. This was my favorite. It was so delightful. Old Fashioned- Sesame Fat-Washed Suntory Toki, Thyme Simple Syrup, Cardamom & Umami Bitters Kara-age - (small plates) marinated, fried chicken cutlets with lemon and Japanese mayo Kinoko dog - mushrooms sauteed in butter and soy with Parmesan Kabocha Coffee Cake - Japanese kabocha squash pumpkin spice cake Always will visit again

Good sushi and good service! There's plenty of other dishes to try like ramen, rice toppings, and a variety of drinks. For kids they even have ramune on top of your regular soda selection; Cool ambiance with a Japanese baseball theme. Worth it for a date or even a group dinner!

I have been here twice, once in 2017 and once a week ago (2024), and I know that their Tonkatsu has remained the same since it looks exactly the same as it did 7 years ago. Regardless, I had a good experience here overall, and I would recommend it to people if they ask about Japanese food within the Twin Cities. For the agedashi tofu, our server poured the liquid after the tofu was brought to our table, which was the first time I have seen it done that way in the Twin Cities. The tonkatsu contained a good amount of rice and meat which was great, but the "potato salad" was bland, which I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be the case. Having some cucumbers and grape tomatoes was good for me, but I still wasn't sure if that was normal. Regardless, I liked it. Other than those, I enjoyed the ramen and the chicken kara.age as well. They were as good as I imagined they would be. In terms of the nigiri and maki rolls, I thought they were overpriced and there were not enough to fill up my friend's stomach. She had to order additional rolls to ensure that she could get a decent amount of food to be full. Our bill accumulated quickly and ended up being beyond what we had expected. One thing I would also mention is that Kyatchi is located in a good location that makes it very convenient for those in the King Field area to go there, including walking. If people ask me to recommend 5 Japanese restaurants in the Twin Cities, then I would mention this establishment.

Needed an idea for a potluck holiday party and stopped in to visit with the staff. Super helpful and recommended a great combination of specialty rolls and appetizers. The food was amazing and the presentation was gorgeous. The platter they pulled together for us was a huge hit and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food! Highly recommend checking this place out. There are a couple of better known sushi restaurants in town but this is definitely the best sushi place you haven't tried!

Kyatchi is an absolute gem in Minneapolis for anyone who loves authentic Japanese food, especially sushi/ramen... but their Hot Dogs! From the moment you step inside, you can feel the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. I took my better half for Valentine's Day dinner. Aside from sushi and ramen, I highly recommend trying their House Dog and Kinoko Dog. The ramen had a rich, deep broth. They also have an excellent selection of sake, which paired perfectly with the meal. Overall, Kyatchi is a fantastic spot for a casual yet top-notch dining experience. Whether you're a sushi lover or just looking for quality Japanese food in Minneapolis, this is the place to go!

We really like Kyarchi. Not only it has good sushi, sashimi, ramen, and also interesting Japanese hotdog . You gotta try them. My toddlers also like the children menu. The rice, and chicken meat ball is my toddlers fav. We enjoy the various dishes we ordered, as well as their drink and dessert. The servers are very friendly, and the restaurant's environment is well-decorated and clean. Recommended.

The food is a little overrated, especially for its price. On average, our spending was about $20 per person and none of us were full. Portion sizes are tiny and the taste of the food wasn't that good. Service also took at least 20 minutes, and we were seated around 9pm, so we didn't expect the wait times for food to be that long. Overall rating: 5/10

Really like this place. The happy hour is until 6 and fantastic. One of the best happy hour spots in the cities. This is a fish sushi place. They don't do the flashy rolls. They do great fish - which is way better. I'd definitely recommend this place for pure sushi lovers.

Everything was perfectly curated and the servers were knowledgeable and respectful. At the end they took our picture for us to keep which was just the cherry on top of a perfect evening. Each course was a fun new experience. Being able to brush on the soy sauce was so fun. The sake pairing I'd definitely recommend, and was more than enough for a single person. I saw some people saying that they were hungry afterwards but both me and my boyfriend were not. The portions were perfect, just eat mindfully and slowly and you will feel a good level of satiety. Although it was decently expensive (~$500 after tax) it was well worth it for a special occasion. Also as mentioned by others tips are not expected as they add a 21% surcharge to cover tips. I'd recommend anyone go here if they have something special to celebrate in Minneapolis. We will certainly return next year. Just a brief note on logistics: making a reservation online you will pay a deposit ($100 for 2 people) and that will be applied towards your bill at the end. I guess is a good and welcome attempt to expand to more American palates, even if it seemed odd. There were some cakes or something also out that, well, some seemed like what I expected, some others did not. They clearly labeled things on the plate holders on the conveyor belt (never seen it done quite so, uh, obviously, before), and since they have six tiers of plates (by color), they can price things accordingly as well. Not going to lie, even tho sashimi was pricer and it looked like the coloring was doing a lot of work, it was nice to have a protein-heavy option without the carbs (as much as I love rice...). Speaking of, their rice is actually decent enough in quality. I guess the overall experience is passable enough, even if it wasn't cheap.

Overall, it's a reliable spot with a lot of variety. I'd go back to try more of the menu, just would probably adjust the spice level next time.

If sushi could cast spells, Okidoki Sushi would be working some serious magic…read more We kicked things off with the tempura shrimp taco appetizer, and wow... crispy nori "shells" wrapped around sushi rice, cucumber, and spicy crab, crowned with a whole tempura shrimp and drizzled in spicy and eel sauces. Crunchy, creamy, savory perfection in every bite. Next came the Angry Dragon roll, which easily stole the show. Shrimp tempura and spicy tuna, topped with spicy crab and eel sauce, all wrapped in a gorgeous pink soybean wrapper. This was hands-down our favorite... bold, flavorful, and just the right amount of heat. The Twin Cities roll was a very close second. Served warm with a tempura coating, it was packed with spicy crab, tuna, and avocado, then finished with eel and spicy sauces and green onion. Rich, crispy, and deeply satisfying. We also tried the Kickboxer roll, loaded with spicy crab and tempura shrimp, topped with a sweet-spicy sauce and Sriracha for an extra kick. And because we couldn't resist, we ended with the seafood ramen. The broth was creamy and comforting, with two large scallops, a perfectly cooked shrimp, half a soft-boiled egg, plus noodles, sprouts, and bok choy. It felt like a warm hug in a bowl. Everything we tried was incredibly fresh, the fish practically melted in your mouth, and the seasoning was spot-on across the board. We'll absolutely be back and will be recommending this spot to friends and family. If you're craving sushi with a little flair and a lot of flavor, this place delivers.

Serious food safety concern. My wife and I ordered from Okidoki Sushi on October 5, 2026. We had…read moreSalmon Lover, Takoyaki, Alaska Roll, vegetable and shrimp tempura, and Ikura sashimi. Within roughly 4 hours, both of us developed severe vomiting and diarrhea. I can't prove exactly which item caused it, but two people becoming acutely sick after eating the same meal is extremely concerning. Given that some of our order contained raw seafood, I hope the restaurant takes this seriously and reviews its food handling and storage procedures. We will not be ordering here again.
