I had sushi a lot at different restaurants before, and I'm not saying they were bad, but they were like combinations that include fish and rice, and nothing special enough to impress me. At Kusshi, they put their hearts in their sushi rolls with fresh ingredients, and decorate everything nicely. On top of that, their service exceeds my expectation. It is fast and precise. Servers are always around and ready to come to your table when you need them. It is a big plus that the way Kusshi organized everything makes their restaurant look so clean and spacious. This was my first time in this location and I was nervous as I don't really eat Japanese cuisine like that. What I will say though is the food was really good and it exceeded my expectations. The service was great as Darya helped me and my family out with the order and food. The food was served to us really quickly. The environment is also really good and you could not ask for anything better. This is a spot I would definitely recommend as I tried their vegetarian sampler, chicken yakisoba, and chicken yakitori. 1 for being unsanitary which could be fatal when you're dealing with raw fish. While waiting for a to-go order last night I noticed two of the employees behind the sushi counter pull out a t-shirt from under the counter, admire it, touch it, all while holding it over raw fish. Then, they put the shirt under the counter and began touching food, sushi containers, etc. THEY DID NOT WASH THEIR HANDS BEFORE HANDLING FOOD AND DISHES! What's more, they never put gloves on either like the other two gentlemen next to them had on while rolling the sushi. While it was happening, I went to the manager standing about 50 ft from them and said "look at what is happening over there. Please go do something and make them wash their hands. All of that fish they just handled is contaminated and can not be served." This was his response: "I didn't see it. They are supposed to wear gloves. You will have to hold on while I take these calls for to-go orders." I was stunned! I then asked for the manager and he said "I'm not in charge of that area and need to focus on these calls first." That was all I needed to hear. I told him I would be calling the MD Health Department and filing a report" before leaving to which he seemed benign to. I DO NOT RECOMMEND EATING AT THIS PLACE!!! ordered food from them from uber eats, two days later I just finished receiving treatment at holy cross for food poisoning. called the place and manager seems okay and was very helpful with the case so that's the only star. but id advise staying away from here until DHHS from the state assesses the food safety practices as i ordered non raw and a cooked roll and still got food poisoning, alluding to some form of cross contamination. read more
