One order included 2 egg rolls. I loved that they were not greasy and that they were lightly fried. Inside was ground chicken. Very tasty comfort food for a cold night. Next we had sushi rolls. We thoroughly enjoyed the spicy tuna and shrimp tempura rolls. They were perfect in every way Finally, we had the steak and shrimp hibachi platters, mine with teriyaki sauce and noodles and my husband's with rice. Both came with cabbage, broccoli, and carrots. The portions are good-sized. We could only eat half and took the rest home for dinner the next night. Scrumptious! I highly recommend Hibachi Express. I was game, and it was delicious. This isn't gourmet, but it's a solid choice. Staff was cordial. When I did the Yelp search on Hibachi Express, I saw multiple locations in the area. Kensington location of the website is specific to this location. I looked up the Laurel location. Although it's a separate website, the logo is the same smiley face with flame. So, I may want to go back as that new Laurel westside development is only about 6 miles from my home.

One time there was nigiri made with stale rice, but at least that only happened once. I've had scales in the sushi a couple of times, and the bones have appeared at least three or four times. As far as the quality of the fish goes, it seems pretty hit or miss. I used to really enjoy the extra fatty tuna before I had a particularly bad order, and then I never bothered getting it again because it's a pricey order. The cuts also do not seem to be as generous as they once were. I've continued to give this place a chance because most of the servers have been very pleasant, and I've had some nice memories here. But last week I was at this location for a celebration, and we had sushi with both fish bones and a scale attached. The sushi with the bones was comped, but the sushi with the scale was not. I think I've hit my limit with this location. I'm also surprised that they don't seem to have taken better precautions against fish bones appearing in their sushi given that this has happened multiple times. As much as I've enjoyed coming here, I'm tired of having to wonder about whether or not I'll find something in my food again. Like I said, this is literally the only sushi restaurant that I've ever been to that I've had these issues with, let alone consistently.
