This is the spot to get great sushi for very reasonable prices! Especially with happy hour until 7! Service was super friendly, with several servers and employees checking in on us and taking care of us. I really enjoyed the hand rolls and the element roll. would love to come back to try more options - especially the much talked about hot rock wagyu!! There is a large parking lot out front with validated parking.

This place came highly recommended by one of my friends as one of the better sushi options in the area. My friends and I came for happy hour and very strangely got seated in the restaurant section and ignored for sometime until we inquired. We were told happy hour was not offered in the regular seating section and redirected to the bar, where we were offered both the happy hour and the regular menus. I had salmon crudo and chicken karage and the food was okay but the portions were quite small. My friends had rolls from the regular menu and also tried the hand rolls, which turned out to be a large block of rice and not at all what they were expecting for a hand roll. Overall mediocre sushi experience. Easy metro access.

This place is great for groups and even families. A couple of us came here for lunch, and even though they were somewhat busy, there was very little wait at all. There are so many options on their menu, and I was not 100% sure about what I wanted, so I went for the combo sushi meal. I can't remember the formal name of the platter, but it included their top sushi selections. A couple of my friends ordered the California sushi rolls which wasn't as much as my platter. It was honestly enough sushi for three people! To drink I ordered three rounds of Italian mineral water, and I'm glad that they had that. This sushi place should be more popular than what it is, because the atmosphere and the service are top notch. I'm sure we will all venture here again for an awesome and un- forgettable lunch.

We love Sushiko and are so happy it's reopened. Tonight we started with the hamachi crudo, so gorgeous, and the Brussels sprouts, which were both salty and sweet - delicious! The bento box is filled with gorgeous nigiri and sashimi, the sashimi was pristine, and the rolls were amazing. Service is always good, with generous pours of wine. It's casual but sophisticated at the same time.

I am so glad Sushiko is back up and running. They were my favorite happy hour place pre-pandemic. While they don't seem to be running HH deals right now, the bar is open and they are still providing amazing takeout. Last night we ordered the bento box and the udon. The bento box is stuffed with fresh nigiri, sashimi, and your choice of roll. All the fish was super fresh. I love their seaweed salad and they give you a big portion. It also comes with miso soup. I love the packaging as well. There udon is delicious and I love that they package the noodles separately from broth so it doesn't get soggy. They come with two tempura shrimp and they add a little container of togarashi spice. It was super quick. Only took 20 minutes from order to pickup. I will happily get takeout from here soon.

Great spot. Validates parking. Ordered off the Happy Hour menu that had very reasonable prices and allowed us to try out a lot different of things. Would love to come back.

Delicious sushi in Chevy Chase area. Much bigger place than it looks from the front window. After reviewing several YELP friends and reviews I was ready when I walked in. Salmon ceviche, Brussel sprouts and Wygu appetizer to start. Element roll, spicy tuna and double salmon rolls with the pannacota for dessert. Great meal and great recommendations- Thank you to my Yelp friends.

Delicious sushi and great service! First time here and will definitely be returning. The hostesses were especially kind to our party. I also think that the prices are very reasonable for sushi and I was very happy with ours choice to come to Sushiko!

We'll have to look for an opportunity when we are around the dog all day, so she can be on her own for a couple of hours, likely sleeping. Birdsong already is acclaimed. This is much more Thai and Thai American. Like Chinese or Italian cuisine before it, Thai flavors have assimilated to a palate not accustomed to the true strength of the spices. Birdsong is a remedy. They do not offer the pad thai that has become a staple, no longer exotic but to its detriment. (A digression. The history of pad thai, with contested origins, is fascinating. As you delve into these matters, you see how syncretic culture is. You also are exposed to the efforts to fashion a unifying mythology.) We ordered the chicken, the shrimp, the crab fried rice, the papaya salad, and the enhancement. The chicken and the shrimp were quality ingredients, prepared well. Although both proteins were fried, they felt clean. The crab fried rice was one option of many with the rice base. The papaya salad was fresh. The enhancement was radish with "fermented daikon, garlic, red onion, cilantro, palm sugar, and fish sauce scrambled with eggs for a balanced savory and sweet flavor," and the portion was generous: we put it on the rice, then I finished it off in an omelet the next morning. We have traveled to Bangkok. Thai spiciness exceeds what I would endorse, and I love hot dishes. Birdsong was much milder, though with sufficient pepperiness my wife, who does not share my preferences, remarked it was closer to her limit. They will work with you in this respect, and I'm confident I could request something that would test my capabilities. That is, in my book, all positive. The dishes that were mild according to the menu, were mild, but they were flavorful. If you do not like fish sauce, for example, you may not appreciate the offerings, which if they don't have fish sauce have something along those lines. I hope Birdsong fares well.

If you came to Birdsong craving Thai food let it be known that you will be severely disappointed as calling this Thai food is a direct affront to the dignity of the people of Thailand. A certain expectation and fulfillment of spice and delicious flavor are usually achieved upon dining at a Thai restaurant. Birdsong did not deliver on either of these fronts. We had the Basil Rice bowl which was recommended and according to the menu was one of the spicier entrees. A few bites in and the spice wasn't even registering. Let's us take a moment to reflect on the gravity of that statement- while eating at a Thai restaurant, a food genre beloved for its spice, one of the alleged spicier entrees didn't even register a single degree of heat. The ground pork that came over the white rice was dry and the dish was devoid of any sauce so therefore actual flavor for that matter. In practice this meant that 70% of the dish was just white fluffy rice without any sauce or seasoning. I could carry on about the abject failure of the other courses, or how we had finished both the appetizers before the waiter brought my date's beer which she had ordered upon arrival, but I will leave it here. So $94 for two very small apps, two beers and the most flavorless Thai entree I've ever had. Someone needs to smack the chef in the face and remind him he's the chef at a Thai restaurant, not a retirement home. Pathetic

I was visiting with a group while staying in Chevy Chase for training, and what should have been an enjoyable evening instead left me feeling degraded, singled out, and deeply unwelcome. Upon entering the establishment, I placed a closed water bottle on the counter while attempting to order a cocktail. Without any explanation, the waiter behind the bar approached me and attempted to confiscate the bottle. At no point prior to this interaction was I informed of any policy regarding outside containers. It was only after I specifically requested to speak with a manager, Teresa, that this policy was mentioned. I find it unacceptable that I had to initiate that conversation myself, rather than being treated with basic courtesy and clear communication from the outset. Shortly after, the same waiter attempted to move my entire part (who are all people of color) outside to the patio. While my group was escorted out, I remained inside briefly to complete my order and speak with Teresa. This sequence of events raised immediate concerns about how we were being treated and why. Once outside, my party was seated in a far corner of the patio and left unattended for over 10 minutes. No one came to serve us. I eventually went back inside to inquire, at which point the same waiter returned and began taking orders. His demeanor toward me was noticeably dismissive. When I ordered the same drink I had just purchased inside, I was told I would be charged differently, with no clear explanation. Despite taking my order, he served everyone else at the table and deliberately excluded me. When I followed up about my drink, I was informed that he and management had decided not to serve me. This decision was never communicated to me directly, nor was any justification provided. Once again, I was forced to ask what was happening, which only compounded the confusion and frustration. The entire experience felt isolating and punitive, as though I was being singled out rather than treated as a valued guest. When Teresa came to the table, she was unable to provide clear answers as to why I was refused service or why no alternative server was assigned if there had truly been an issue. Her lack of accountability and dismissive response only reinforced the impression that this treatment was acceptable within your establishment. I want to be very clear: I have never felt as isolated, disrespected, and berated in a restaurant setting as I did that evening. The handling of this situation, from the waiter's conduct to the manager's failure to address it appropriately, was deeply unprofessional and unacceptable. I expect this matter to be taken seriously. There was a clear breakdown in communication, professionalism, and basic hospitality. I am requesting that this incident be thoroughly reviewed and addressed, including appropriate accountability for both the staff member involved and the manager on duty. I look forward to your response.

Upon arrival, we spoke with Omar and he had us go inside to be seated. Upon going inside, there was a taller gentleman with glasses and jewelry who we asked if there was a table available for three. He rudely looked at us and said well I don't know, do you have a reservation. We said no, but there's plenty of vacant tables we see are any available? It took him awhile until Omar came back inside and he showed us a table. After waiting awhile, we observed chaos ensue. There seems to be no clear direction in the front of house except for Omar working to do everything. We waited 10-15 minutes to be acknowledged and asked for a drink order. One person in our group ordered hot tea which took over 20 minutes. We finally placed our food order and it took forever! There seemed to be a backup in preparing entrees and all meals were delayed this evening. However, Omar brought our food over and was very respectful asking if we needed anything else and if he could get us any additional dressings/sauces for our meal. He came back a few times to check in with us, which was great. Prior to leaving for his shift, Omar checked in one final time before leaving and thanked us for coming by. After this, overall service just continued to diminish. We finished our meal and asked every single employee for our check. One gentleman who seemed to be the busier asked the taller gentleman who seemed to be the host/waiter to please get our check and he blew him and us off. We then asked the bartender for our check and asked for it to be separate. He brought it over and plopped it down on the table and said nothing and walked away. So again, I flagged someone down and asked if we could please have separate checks. It took over 30 minutes to get our checks and pay. A 1 hour dinner turned in to 2 and a half hours due to the lack of clear front of house staffing structure and responsibilities and a slow kitchen and food that was just okay but not worth the price. Some items were severely over seasoned while others were not seasoned at all. As for the atmosphere, inside the restaurant is beautiful. However, there is no music at all so you just hear the noise of the kitchen and others talking in the restaurant. If it wasn't for Omar, we probably would have gotten up and left. He is the only one creating a positive experience and actually acknowledging and engaging with customers. Thank you to Omar! A piece of advice, there seems to be a need for front of house staffing to be clearly defined, responsibilities given to each employee, and wait staff sections created and given to waiters to follow.
