Bought a gift certificate off Groupon based on positive Groupon reviews. Called Leah to book my massage and explained that the voucher was originally for a friend who ended up being an a$$, so I decided to use it for myself. I immediately apologized for using the language. Leah then reprimanded me by saying she doesn't approve of that language because she has children (so do I). Then she went to cut my call short. I asked if she was the owner & would like to refund my purchase, to which she said I needed to contact Groupon. I apologized a second time & asked if we could "start our conversation over" The rest of the call went fine. We discussed times which would work for both of us. I said I would call back, but after thinking about it I decided to review her instead. First, I know not one single adult who HASN'T used that word. Second, as a person in a customer service roll it is NOT her place to correct or judge me based on my language. Leah, I have worked in customer service for almost 20 years. Your quick judgement of me (after I apologized immediately) was uncalled for, and hasty. I had Groupon refund my money because I would have felt extremely uncomfortable being in your establishment. And after reading the other reviews about your attitude I would have never even purchased in the first place. Again I'm sorry for the pg-13 language, but pick your battles. From one mother to another, If you don't want your children listening to your personal or business calls then do not answer them on speaker phone. Re to Leah's comment: I'm not angry. I never was angry. I actually giggled when I explained that he was an a$$ as it was said in casual conversation. Not meant to be offensive in any way. I'm sorry you took offense & I wish you the best of luck. REVIEW EDIT 4/25/19 She contacted me on my personal cell phone this morning. Mind you I have not had any contact with her since my review yesterday. And NEVER did I have any other communication on her cellphone with her except for our initial phone conversation about booking a massage (referenced in my above review). I'm very disappointed to have had this kind of experience. It is a gross miss use of her personal business power. And extremely insulting to recommend someone need professional therapy. This is inappropriate, and technically considered harassment, if it continues I will seek the proper authorities. I have been nothing but professional and apologetic for my miss use one off-color word. I am posting screen shots of her text messages below as a "buyer beware" warning. Leah, you are more than welcome to respond to this as I am sure you will. But do not ever contact my personal cell phone again.

I left this review / post on her Facebook because I had no way of getting information on a refund.

I found Moon Massage when I was looking for a real deal massage without having to shell out a lot…read moreof money for it. They offer a variety of massages: deep tissue, reflexology, Thai, chair massage by the minute, etc. and have reasonable prices for them. I decided to treat myself to a two hour massage and was able to get a next-day appointment on their website. The massage studio itself is fairly bare bones: you won't find fluffy robes and sparkling water here. When you arrive they have you take off your shoes and give you house slippers. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming. The individual rooms are more like stalls in that the barriers between them don't go all the way to the ceiling, so that means you can hear things from other customers, but it's usually not that big of a deal as people tend to be quiet. They offer relaxing music but don't pay for the service so occasionally you have to hear an ad, but you'll be so blissed out from the massage you won't notice it. The massage therapists really know what they're doing. They'll start by kneeling on you (not as creepy as it sounds) and they will really dig into your knots. They're receptive to feedback if the pressure gets too intense or if there are areas you need avoided. You might not feel the effects of the massage right away, but after a good hot shower and a sleep you'll feel far more limber and in less pain. They also offer couples massages for any duo. When you check out they give you a Thai hard candy and a water bottle.

I couldn't anticipate what was coming next. I came in for a deep tissue massage so I knew it would be a little uncomfortable for my back and neck and shoulders but i counted a number of times where I had sharp pain. I can't say if I'd gotten something else it would've been better? But the deep tissue was really painful..

I visited The Now on my birthday for my first ever massage, which came as a gift. I arrived on time, but my massage was started late and then shortened by 15 minutes without anyone letting me know ahead of time. The service was booked as a 25 minute massage, with an added scalp massage as well. It ended up being about 10 minutes total for $100. My partner who booked the massage initially called to check in on the error, and was met with hostility and was told there was video surveillance of me arriving late and also a video of me being told the service was shortened. This is not true, and we obviously would not have called The Now for explanation if that had been the case. I work in customer service and was baffled by The Now's response and failure to take accountability. I later called to speak to management directly and was told a manager would call me back same day. I was never contacted again, and it has been over a week. Lincoln Square is full of so many amazing and independently owned businesses, and The Now has decreased the warmth of this lovely neighborhood with their corporate dishonesty. We have let our friends and neighbors know that this is the case with The Now, and will be pursuing privately owned massage businesses from here on out.
