Finally stepped in here to try it out. Have an oyster allergy so they warned me cannot order any of the stir fry. Kudos to the service for asking if have allergies! So instead ordered spicy beef hand cut noodle soup and vegetable dumplings. Prices are a little high, but great flavors overall, and they give things to add to the ramen for more flavor and spice. Definitely going back.
Excellent Chinese food! The service was great. We were sat right away. The food came out quickly. We tried the hand cut noodles because they are renowned for them and they did not disappoint. The noodles were perfectly chewy, smothered in a delicious brown Chinese sauce and mixed with a variety of veggies and shrimp and beef (we ordered the "special" which basically comes with everything. The beef was shaved extremely thin yet it didn't fall apart, and it very flavorful from being marinated is spices. The whole dish had so much going on. Every bite was a little different, and I loved every flavor and texture combination. The hard boiled egg is also a nice unique touch that you don't often see. We also tried the pork soup dumplings, the pork savory dumplings, and the red bean buns. All of these were excellent quality. I couldn't had been happier with the thinness of the dumplings wrappers, the flavors and textures of the dumpling stuffing, and the fluffiness of the red bean buns. I haven't stopped thinking about this meal since I had it. Also worth mentioning is the lychee tea. It had fresh lychees torn into bits. So flavorful, not too sweet.
I was really pleasantly surprised by KungFu Kitchen. It's been in the neighborhood for a while now, and I've always walked by to see lines of people flooding out the door. But when I looked at the menu, it seemed pretty pricey for dumplings and noodles, so I never showed too much interest until a friend of mine said that the pan fried pork buns were good. I ended up ordering from here on a cold fall evening and really think it's a pretty reasonable place to get dinner. The portions are pretty filling, which justifies the price, and I ended up being pretty happy with the meal! Shrimp Stir Fry Hand Cut Noodle - $16.95 - This was a heaping plate of noodles, and it wasn't all veggies either. I hate when places load up noodle dishes with veggies, but this dish had a hearty serving of noodles and 5 pieces of shrimp. I was surprised that the shrimp was actually the same price as the chicken version of this dish, and it was great! The shrimp were nice and meaty, and this really hit the spot after adding a bit of chili oil. Shanghai Pan Fried Pork Buns - $14.95 - These were a bit unconventional compared to the other Shanghai pan fried pork buns I've had, but they were good. The dough is more of a fluffy and doughy material than a thick dumpling dough, which is what I'm used to for this type of bun, but it was still tasty and the pork flavor really seeped into the fluffy outer layer quite well. This is a pretty solid place, and from the looks of it, the other dumpling dishes also came in pretty large portions, so I will surely be back to try them!
My friend suggested this place after looking around the area. We made reservations just in case but there is also a live waitlist on Yelp you can hop on if you don't plan in advance. The place was pretty busy so I would utilize one of these options even if a smaller party. For appetizers we shared their Pork Xiao Long Bao, Scallion Pancake W/Sliced Beef, Sticky Rice Shumai (4Pcs). The baos were juicy and the skin was relatively thin. I really liked the scallion pancakes which were thick and plentiful. We were not a fan of the shumai since the texture was pretty odd not being exactly sticky or soft. For entrees, we shared their House Special Stir Fry Hand-Cut Noodle seafood, Beef & shrimp Stir-Fry Ramen. We liked their hand-cut noodles more since the ramen style was more of lo mein type. Flavor wise, they're exactly the same so I'd recommend getting one of their soups instead of these two. Overall, we had a good experience. The staff were nice and the dishes came out in a timely manner despite them being busy. The dishes themselves were decent but not really anything uniquely special. I'd personally be more interested in trying another place before coming back here again.
Tried this place recently and was happily satisfied! The scallion pancakes with beef were my favorite dish we ordered. The hand pulled noodles and pork xiao long bao were also amazing. The service was quick and the atmosphere was clean and modern. I would definitely return!
I came in with a craving for ramen, and this spot was the closest option within walking distance. Once I got there, the menu suggested dumplings instead--so I gave them a try. The restaurant itself is clean, modern, and clearly popular--it was busy when I arrived. Since I was dining solo, I was seated at the bar, though it felt more like a counter set above a sink, which wasn't the most comfortable or atmospheric spot. As for the dumplings, they were just okay. Nothing offensive, but also nothing memorable. The flavor was fairly plain, and there weren't many accompaniments or condiments offered to help bring the dish to life. I found myself wishing for something extra--sauce, texture, or seasoning--to make them stand out. Overall, I might not be judging this place entirely fairly since I came in with a different craving. That said, it didn't quite hit the mark for me this time.
Came here with some friends and tried the house special noodle soup and the pan fried pork buns. I think the noodle soup had a fair amount of MSG, making it very umami. It also had a good variety of toppings: shrimp, egg, beef, and bok choy. The noodles were a bit overcooked and soft, but overall the dish was still pretty solid. The pan fried pork buns, however, were very disappointing. They were a bit soggy and didn't really look or taste pan fried. Other items on the menu still look pretty promising though.
It was my second time here and I really enjoyed our meal here (again). Loved the noodle dish, especially the broth and hand pulled noodles part. I wish the egg was soft boiled instead of hard boiled, but enjoyed the flavor anyway. The scallion pancake with beef was surprisingly good, I'll have to remember to get that again next time. The food came out in a timely manner, service was friendly and attentive, and the interior was clean and lively without being too loud.
Delicious Shanghainese food! It was pretty busy but we were able to get a table quickly, including a high chair for our friend's baby. The noodle soup was so flavorful and had good portions of toppings and noodles. The soup dumplings were also very good!
My partner and I came here before going to the Coolidge Corner Theater and it was the perfect pre-movie meal. We walked in on a Wednesday night at around 6:15 in a bit of time crunch. The tables were mostly filled at that point but there was a table for two that was available for us and we started scouting the menu right away. Handmade noodles quickly caught our eye and we also saw there was a fish dumpling special too. We couldn't go there without trying their famous soup dumplings and pan fried buns either. The food came out in less than 10 minutes from ordering, and we had a table full of food before we knew it. We started with the noodles as we let the dumplings cool down for a little and it came with several large shrimps, pieces of beef and a tea egg as well. The noodles definitely had that handmade texture- it was chewy and gripped the sauce well. Next we tried the fish dumpling, which was filled to the brim with fish but tasted very clean and fragrant- I haven't had many fish dumplings better. The crab and pork soup dumpling filling had great flavor, a decent amount of soup inside and slightly thicker skin than what I'm used to but no complaints at all. The pan fried buns may have actually had more juice than the soup dumplings, I was extremely careful with every bite as I didn't want to the smell of pork from my clothes to waft through the theater. I'm looking forward to my next trip to Kung Fu Kitchen, I enjoyed every item I tried and the service was fast and efficient.
Amazing and I already want to go back- the food here gives you a warm hug! I ordered a lot because I wanted to try a lot, so below are my individual ratings: 1. Steamed Vegetable Dumplings- 5/5. This was my favorite item I ordered surprisingly! This was because the fillings were generously packed FULL of different veggies- mushroom, carrots, I think maybe bok choy? I loved the variety of veggies and it was so flavorful. Other places sometimes only use cabbage as their filling and call it a day but this was not the case. I usually like thin dumpling wrappers, but these were not thin yet still delectable! 2. Chicken Xiao Long Bao- 4.5/5. Soft and warm, had a good amount of broth. Wish it was jusssst a tad bit more seasoned though! Otherwise delicious. 3. Chicken soup with hand pulled noodles- 4/5. The noodles are very fresh and chewy, and the chicken is not dry. The broth itself is plain, very basic. But very representative of what an Asian mom would make. This would be great to eat if you're sick. Very generous serving! 4. Red Bean Buns- 5/5. Warm and fluffy with generous filling. Couldn't ask for anything more 5. Green Tea smoothie- 3/5. It was aight. The one at Shabu Zen is better. Not very sweet and a bit too icy. I still drank all of it though 6. Sticky Rice Siu Mai- 4.5/5 was very good and rice was nice and sticky! I think it could've used JUST a tad more seasoning and would've been perfect. Would def order again! 7. Duck hand pulled noodles- 5/5. Got this to go and was still good the next day! Very generous with the duck and the noodles are chewy. Good ratio of duck/noodles/veggies. Service was very attentive and food came out quick. Inside is also nice looking for photos. Only downside is the limited parking. I will be here again :)
We came here for the second round because we were unsatisfied with eating at Bell86. We ordered the roasted duck ramen, pan-fried pork dumplings, and pan-fried pork buns. Roast Duck Ramen The ramen was not the usual ramen we eat at other ramen noodle restaurants. The soup was plain and not oily, and the noodles didn't soak up all the soup. The duck was full of flavors. Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings The skin is thin, and the pork is juicy. It is filled with ginger, which I am not a fan of. Shanghai Pan-fried Pork Buns The pork fillings were similar to the pan-fried pork dumplings, but with less ginger flavor, which is more to my liking. The buns were thin and soft, with a crispy bottom that filled them with juicy pork fillings.
Very good flavors, I also had the mushrooms buns 2 pieces, also tasty. The service is good, and the place is clean.

I had gotten takeout from the NYC location, but I wanted to try dine-in when they opened here. No reservations and Yelp waitlist wasn't working when we went, but they turn over tables pretty quickly. We got in in under 10 min on a weekday night. We wanted the pan-fried Peking duck buns, but they were out :(. The pork soup dumplings were finely crafted and very yummy, and I liked the sauces at the table (vinegar & chili oil). The surprise winner was the beef scallion pancake, so buttery and flakey. The duck stir-fry hand cut noodles were just fine. I liked the texture, but the sauce just tasted like soy sauce. The duck skin wasn't crispy so not that good. read more

I ordered the roasted duck hand cut noodle soup and shared a pork soup dumpling order with friends. The food here overall is decent but for the price, I expected better. The soup base was mediocre, and the noodles in the soup started getting a bit soggy. I probably should have ordered the ramen in duck noodle soup, but I wanted to try the fresh hand cut noodles. The highlight of this restaurant was the interior - it is spacious, good for families with children, very clean, and bright. The overall ambience feels pleasant and this would also be a good spot for groups. The restaurant did seat our group of 11 quickly on a Saturday around 11:30am, so I can appreciate that. read more

My partner and I ordered pork xiao long bao (soup dumplings), Shanghai pan-fried pork buns, stir-fry hand-cut noodles w veggies, and taro puffs - TASTE: 4/5 - didn't know what to expect w Kung Fu Kitchen being a chain, but were pleasantly surprised! Enjoyed the flavor of the noodles, well-seasoned pork, and especially the perfect sweetness of the taro puffs TEXTURE: 4/5 - good variety of veggies (onions, tomatoes, and celery to name a few) in the noodles. Wish the pan-fried pork buns were fried on all sides, not just the bottom, for more texture. But the taro puffs again were fire w its flaky crust and soft, generous filling PRICE: 4/5 - there are definitely other places to get this food for cheaper. Total came to $65 SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - satisfied us for dinner. Both the soup dumplings and buns came w 6 pieces/order SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 5pm on a Sunday and half the tables were empty, though all were full by the time we left. Service was super prompt and our food came out 10-15min after ordering. Appreciated that our dumpling vinegar sauce was wrapped in an extra layer of Saran Wrap for our to-go bag ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - didn't realize until recently that Six Po Hot Pot had closed and Kung Fu Kitchen has replaced it! The space is modern, bright, and w minimal-style decor PARKING: 4/5 - got a spot in the Centre St east parking lot and paid via the Passport Parking app read more
Given Kung Fu Kitchen's pedigree, I think I expected a bit more. The dumpling and xiao long bao were both perfectly serviceable. If you're craving dumplings or XLB, they'll both do the trick but nothing you'll be racing to get anytime soon. The chicken soup with the hand cut noodles were BLAND. Desperately needed more flavor. read more
Clean, modern interior and a table setup with dumpling sauces and accoutrements build anticipation and excitement. That excitement is matched by the high-quality dumplings and noodle dishes. Soup Dumplings / Xiao Long Bao: Delicate outside, tender inside, and slurpy. Just a bit on the small side but very well executed. Served in a bamboo steamer as are all of the dumplings. Shanghai Fried Pork Buns: Puffy with hints of crispness on the bottom and no greasiness. Tasty pork filling with aromatics added. Hand Pulled Noodles with Duck: Depends on what you're looking for here. Thinner and softer than Gene's or Chili Square, but that's not a knock. Saucing that's neither salty nor gloppy; just enough to enhance. Perfectly cooked vegetables and lots of them. Duck with bones wasn't crispy; had more of a stewed consistency, but hearty flavor. Overall, excellent, crisp duck or not. My wife was also happy with her vegetarian dumplings and hand pulled noodles with vegetables. No shortage of servers and very good service. Superb takeout containers. Looking forward to coming back. read more

Replacing Six pot hot pot after only about a year or two, Kung fu kitchen opened a little over a month ago and so far it's doing pretty good keeping those tables filled. It was popping on a Tuesday night as we were in line with many other people for their Yelp waitlist which took about 15 mins to get in.The inside is bright and feels very new with a wood style design that always gives a really open feeling to a restaurant I've seen a bunch of asian restaurants and places going for this type of style lately. This restaurant is Michelin recommended in New York so I was expecting much more but the food was just alright for me. Note, I also realized there is no Michelin ranking in Boston, no clue on why but it is funny Boston being the weirdo in so many categories but let me not degress too far from the subject. The soup dumplings were just okay, the flavor came mainly from the chili oil that they had on the table which I did like. The hand pulled noodles were very chewy but hard to eat and got cold pretty quickly. Food got to us out in a good amount of time but getting the check we had to keep flagging staff down for a while. I feel like if I went back I would go to try the wonton soup as I heard good things about it. Otherwise, I think I'll stick to my Allston spots that do a better job at a lower price and fill me up. $$ Food 6 Atmosphere 7 Service 5 What we got Pork Xiao Long Bao House Special Stir Fry Hand Cut Noodle Scallion Pancake with sliced beef read more

Came here as a group of four on a Sunday right at opening time and we're glad we did, because it filled up and there was a huge line of people an hour later. The space is large and bright, and the servers are friendly and attentive. Between the four of us we got the scallion pancakes with beef slices, Shanghai pan-fried buns, the house special stir fried noodles, two servings of pork soup dumplings, and taro puffs. In my opinion the texture of the pan-fried buns could've been better. I usually expect a crispy bottom, but the bottoms were softer than I would've liked. The scallion pancakes with beef also could've had more filling in them. The taro puffs were definitely the surprise hit. I really enjoyed the flaky pastry outside and the mochi-like filling. Overall the flavors of everything were good. I might consider coming back once the hype dies down, but for now I'd stick to my usual spots. read more
Brookline always good for some tasty eats. We wanted to try KFK out after seeing a bunch of reels and shorts. Must say they do keep their sku's down as the proteins are the same and you can choose what style to get them in. Beef chicken shrimp - stir fry - soup / spicy soup - hand pull noodles or ramen noodz - shanghai pan fried buns - soup noodles of all types pork, pork + crab, chicken, veggie - taro puffs - wanton soup We tried a little bit of everything. The spicy broth beef soup was yummy, good flavor (not that spicy) with hand pulled noodz for sure! The beef they use is similar to many viet dishes I've had and it's really tender. I really enjoyed the scallion pancake wrapped beef. Stellar on that one, nice crunch flakey and i could eat this as a meal by itself haha. The Shanghai pan fried buns are very filling, def enjoyed each bite, poured some the vinegar / soy sauce for the soup dumplings in after a bite open. The soup dumplings were standard size, filling and the wrapping they used kept the soup inside well without breaking. That's much appreciated. The wontons were FILLED and stuffed with pork and shrimp. Most places usually have tiny wantons with very little fillings. This spot makes sure you feel like you got your moneys worth ! Staff was efficient and nice, space was clean, ambiance was bright on the day we went it was bustling. read more

Not bad, not amazing. The beef noodles and chicken dumplings were probably the best tasting out of the selection we ordered. The space is very new and a lot more spacious than I expected. Service was also nice and attentive. Not a bad place to go for dimsum/Chinese food if you live in the area and don't want to travel to Chinatown. Selection is limited and food is decent. read more
IYKYK One of best places to get Chinese style dumplings and noodles. My favorite was the Shanghai Pan-Fried Pork Buns. They were super tasty, pillowy, and a good balance of buns to filling ratio. Of course you'll need to try out their XLB (Xiao Long Bao) (aka soup dumplings). I didn't try the chicken flavor one but they should be all good. And until DTF comes to Boston, these are probably the best in town so far. Prices of this review are $11.95 for pork, $13.95 for crab & pork, $11.95 for chicken. Of course if you order from delivery service like Uber Eats, the prices are typically higher. Hope to come back soon as there are many more dishes to try. Also, bonus if you're a millennial who grew up with Chinese pop music. The playlist is full of nostalgia and fun vibes. read more

Came on a weekday during their soft opening and there was a bit of a wait but the line moved quickly. It was also so popular for a place that hasn't opened officially yet! We had to wait for a bit for the food but I'm sure it was because it was busy and they're just getting a hang of the food. We got the soup dumpling, Peking duck buns and noodles. I highly recommend the Peking duck buns as it was delicious. I would come back again to try the rest of their menu! read more

Kung Fu Kitchen is a treat! We tried a lot of the menu, which isn't too expansive, but everything was really well done. The soup dumplings are large and juicy. The desserts are not too sweet. Our group was particularly impressed by the pumpkin mochi dessert (and ordered another serving of it) and the beef scallion pancakes. The only minor thing is that there is only one vegetable dish. Finally, the space is bright, modern, and spacious. read more
This place just opened in the area and I've gone 3 times already since discovering it recently. The wonton soup is the star of this restaurant in my opinion. The broth is clear and flavorful, tasting delicious but also remaining light. I believe it is flavored with kelp, seaweed, and tiny shrimp so if you don't like those, you probably will not enjoy the broth. Even so, the wontons themselves are delicious. They are pork and shrimp and they taste SO good. The ambiance is perfect to go with friends and also alone. I often go solo and eat while listening to relaxing c-pop music. Another unexpected plus were the takeout bags - they are high quality and insulated. Reusing is definitely encouraged! read more

With XLB's trending in the foodie world, there are so many people that make them popping up everywhere. But beware, not every Xiao Long Bao is made equally. Okay, maybe in New York they are... but definitely not Boston. This place was so hyped up and I will say... its so worth the hype. I love a good steaming hot soup dumpling - with it's thin dumpling skin, juicy meat with all the juices in the middle, dipped in a little vinegar/chili oil/ soy sauce mixture, it's hard to say no to these little labors of love. This place does it right! It could be slightly thinner (the skin) but honestly, it outright beats all the other XLB shops in the Greater Boston Area right now. Surprisingly, I preferred the crab and pork over the traditional pork XLBs - you can't taste the crab too much but it changed the texture of the filling and made it lighter. The handcut noodles were delicious too. I preferred the soup over the stir fry just because I'm a soup girlie but they were both good. Broth was full of flavor and man the roast duck was *chefs kiss*. Atmosphere was cute, modern, and clean. Bathrooms were fresh and very clean which was a pleasant surprise. Staff were super inviting, friendly, and helpful. They were there when you needed them and not there when you didn't. I don't know how they managed to pull that off but man I was floored with service in general. Everytime I was about to adjust a plate, this waiter came out of no where to "take care of that" for me. Also, I've never been to an Asian restaurant where my glass was always refilled before I even needed to ask. The service in itself is like 3 of 5 stars My friends and I actually went here for "market research" aka is it good enough for us to bring our elders here? Because really... they're the stamp of approval. If you see a bunch of old Asian elders in a restaurant...that restaurant is legit no matter what reviews say! read more

One of my friends arranged for us to meet here, and this turned out to be a really nice find! The various dumplings were all very moist and flavorful. Place seemed popular, and we had to wait a little beyond our reservation time, but it was worth it. Also tried some of the sake, and they weren't too bad. The unfiltered one was good, although it was a little sweet for my taste, but it was quite smooth. All in all, I came away with a very satisfied stomach! read more
Best wontons and scallion beef pancake I've had in Boston! The quality of items here is great and I have yet to try something I didn't like. Prices are on the higher end but justified by their use of ingredients and how amazing the food tastes! They can get busy because the restaurant isn't too large but it's overall a very comfortable dine in experience. read more

Kungfu Kitchen hits the spot. The dumplings are juicy and packed with flavor, the pig ears are crunchy in all the right ways, and the buns are soft, warm, and totally addictive. Fast service, chill vibe, and seriously good eats. Definitely worth a stop. read more

This place was super good!! It is a bit small so there wasn't a lot of space for me to put my jacket/ bag which was a bit annoying but the food made up for it. The hand cut noodles were delicious, and the soup dumplings (pork long bao) were to die for. The sticky rice shumai was also good, but I think I'd prefer to try something else next time, but they were good with some sauce. I will definitely be returning soon, I thought this place might be overhyped but it was amazing. read more

Kung Fu Kitchen, a Michelin-guide restaurant is here in Boston! They have a large menu but they're mostly known for their soup dumplings! I've already been before but went again to try even more dishes! For food, we got pork soup dumplings, scallion pancake with beef, sticky rice shumai, pan fried peking duck buns, pan fried pork dumplings, and wonton soup. The first time I went I got 2 types of hand-pulled noodles and they were not good so I didn't get them again. The soup dumplings are overall good but this time came out a bit too cold. I think the wrapper on top could be thinner but filling was yummy. Scallion pancake is fire. Crispy but still flavorful and the beef inside makes it even more delicious. I think they use duck sauce. Sticky rice shumai was exactly what it looks like- just sticky rice, would not get again. The duck buns were my favorite- they had the most flavor and it was a bit sweet. Pan fried dumplings were so juicy it squirted out! The wonton soup was kinda bland but the actual wonton was seasoned well so it was a bit confusing but better with chili oil. Now that I've been twice, I don't think I would go again but it's definitely worth a shot- especially if you like dumplings read more
This has been a go-to fave for me! Their main highlights here are the pork buns (such nice crispy bottoms and bite to it) but beware of squirting hot juices on that first bite! Their noodles soups are also always a hit - I always prefer their knife cut noodles, so chewy and soft at the same time! Their broth stand-alone is deliciously light but if you want a kick - throw in some of those chili crisps they have at the table. I accidentally inhaled a few chili flakes, so it went down the wrong pipe - thank goodness for water but it burn so good! Even with the chili crisps the flavors of the soup still held through! I have also tried the dried noodles, also yummy but would recommend the soup any day (yes, even in 80 degree weather, cause they always have the AC blasting). read more

Kung fu kitchen hits the noodle and dumpling craving oh so well! The crab and pork XLB were soupy and delicious with vinegar and chili oil, the knife cut noodles were bouncy and yummy, and to my surprise my favorite was the pan fried pork dumplings which consisted of a perfect blend of a crispy bottom, soft bun, and soupy inside. Kung fu kitchen recently opened 8 ish months ago! It's located in Coolidge corner. We ordered the house special noodle soup ($17.50), crab meat and pork xiao long Bao ($13.95), Shanghai pan fried pork buns ($14.95) and taro puffs ($8.95). My favorites were the pan fried pork buns and the taro puffs. The puffs aren't as purple or as good looking as the pictures but they taste delicious! The crab xiao long Bao wasn't amazing - I could barely taste the crab. Service is friendly and parking is convenient - there's a metered lot nearby. Overall rating: 10/10 read more

So meh in every way possible. We tried a variety of dishes at Kung Fu Kitchen and only the Shanghai Pan-Fried Buns were decent with a lot of juicy stuffing. Everything else was kind of bland and oily. The soup dumplings were just okay...the skin was too thick. Nicely decorated inside but the wait staff needs some more organization. We had multiple people consistently asking us if we were ready to order even though we just gotten seated a few minutes prior. I know they mean well but it felt disorganized. read more
We waited over 40 min on a Sunday but this was to be expected. The staff are wonderful so patient and very nice. The restaurant is airy modern and clean which is great. The food is good - we ordered the Michelin starred items like the duck buns and the beef slices in scallion pancake. They're good but to be honest, I still think Din tai fung surpasses what we got here. I'm thrilled that Boston is upping their game in Chinese food. I'd come again to try the other dumpling variations outside of the classic shao lung baos. read more
