I stopped by Kung Fu Tea specifically for the Care Bears collab, so I was pretty disappointed to find out the smoothie machine was broken which means I was not able to order the Taro Tantrum Slush. That was honestly the whole reason for my visit and had made a trek from South Aust I was able to place my order on the app and decided to try the Berry Whimsical Milk Tea with graham crackers and cheesecake milk. It turned out to be a bit too sweet for my tastes. It was supposed to have a cheesecake topping with graham cracker crust on top which sadly it did not. I could not believe the $9 price point for this beverage. The staff was friendly and had my beverage prepared when promised. Sadly the carebear collab was over in April so I will not get the opportunity to try that Taro Tantrum or Cheery Rosehip slush. read more

Kung Fu Tea is one of the better boba tea options we've had here in Austin. This location is especially convenient with parking right out front and many other options to eat at before or after you get there. The inside is clean and very spacious and the menu is diverse but simple enough to understand all the possible combinations. Ordering was very quick, although they ran out of boba and other things midway through our group order making it hard to find something, granted we did come in 20 minutes before closing. After we ordered, there was a line behind us, but I'm not sure what they could've ordered considering everything was out. We ordered a taro milk tea with boba and a matcha milk cap. We typically order 50% sweet because most drinks are too sugary and this ended up being the right call because at 50% sweetness this drink tasted perfect. The matcha flavor really came through in the milk cap but wasn't too earthy, and the taro tea base was refreshing and sweet as well. Our drink was great and this spot is just so easy and convenient to get to, making it one of the better options for bubble tea we've seen in the area. We'll definitely be back whenever we get another boba craving and look forward to it. read more

The taro black milk tea was surprisingly really good. The black tees in the mix had a good strong flavor. They did run out of normal tapioca on that day. But all else was fine. Drinks were made fast. The even had the Pookachus printed on the cups! read more

Surprising pretty solid boba spot! The menu is really diverse and service is very fast. My honey oolong tea was made perfectly - almost not sweet at all and with a very well balanced flavor and delicious soft top. I'll definitely be back to try more options! read more

I've been to many kung fu tea locations but this one just wasn't it. The drink was not good I couldn't finish my drink. I asked for half sweet and it was overly sweet still. My drink also had a bitter aftertaste which was weird. read more

I hadn't been to KFT in years since they had a location by the UT campus that closed down pretty soon after they opened. I was looking for a drink without caffeine, so I opted for the pineapple slush. Big mistake. It was like they put snow cone ice and a little drizzle of pineapple syrup. I could barely drink it because it was mostly ice. Even in the hot summer day, it had barely melted two hours later. My friend, however, got the tropical slush, and it was a totally normal consistency. It was really good. My pineapple slush was so awful though. read more

I came here to pre-game before the Yelpies 2024 celebration at PLAYLAND. P2 and I wanted something caffeinated and sweet to get us going into the night. I was surprised to learn that they have a drinks series called "Milk Strike," which uses lactose-free milk to create new drinks for their menu lineup. I ordered the Matcha Milk, and P2 ordered the Honey Oolong Milk Tea. The drinks came out quickly, and both were equally delicious. I had the Matcha Milk made to 30% sweetness + boba, which was perfect for me. I could taste the matcha, and the milk added creaminess to complete the drink. P2 appreciated the Honey Oolong Milk Tea at 50% sweetness + boba, which is a solid choice. When we went, there weren't that many people there, so the place was peaceful, and it was easy to enjoy a pleasant conversation. The only downside is that parking can be limited as this KFT is located in a busy shopping plaza at a busy intersection along HWY 183. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here and would be happy to return. read more

The very first time I tried bubble tea was from a Kung Fu Tea shop in Boston years ago. I fell in love with their black milk tea. Now, years later in Austin, I'm happy to report that the black milk tea is just as delicious as I remembered. I might be influenced by nostalgia, but I haven't found a better black milk tea in Austin. I don't just love the taste -- I also appreciate how customizable it is. After choosing your drink from a wide selection of options, you choose the size (medium or large), the sugar level (my preference is 50%), the ice level (no ice, less ice, or regular ice), and the toppings (none of their drinks come with boba by default). The one thing you can't customize, at least with the milk tea, is the choice of milk. According to the staff, their milk tea is made from a lactose-free powder. read more

Get the app!! You'll be ordering on a device anyway, which I love because it doesn't pressure you into rushing AND you can see pictures of the drinks. The app allows you to earn and redeem points. I had some from previous visits, and on my last trip I had a free upgrade AND free boba. And it was all delicious! read more

I hadn't been to this location in a while and decided to give it another try for New Year's. I downloaded the app before checking out so I could earn points. When I told the front desk employee I wanted to scan for points, she instructed me to scan under a scratched-up iPad. There was a pause on her screen, and she had to ask a coworker for help. I asked again if the points went through, and she said they should apply once I paid. After receiving my receipt, I checked both the app and the receipt and noticed no points had been applied. This experience made it clear that customer service is not a priority at this location, and the lack of proper training seems to fall on store leadership. The employee also walked away before handing me my receipt, when I had to press the print button for the receipt to come out. During the order process, the environment was very loud. While sitting down briefly to sip our drinks, we overheard shouting between the same employee and a male coworker in the prep area, which was uncomfortable and unprofessional. I left feeling that the staff at this location could benefit from a refresh in customer service training. While the dining area was clean, the restroom appeared neglected. The soap dispenser looked like it contained water instead of actual soap, which was concerning. read more

This place was pretty chill inside. The staff was very friendly and let me exchange my drink for another when I did not enjoy the first flavor. The first try was a Chocolate Malt Bliss which is one of the newer flavors. This one tested like ice mixed with chocolate and malt in a tiny bit of milk. I was hoping for a more creamy flavor. The second try was the taro slush with less sugar. This one tasted much better and had a hint of a maple syrup flavor. read more

Worst boba chain, hands down. I haven't come to KFT for years because their drinks are made with powder, but I thought I'd pop in after visiting a nearby restaurant. I ordered a Thai tea, and it was the worst Thai tea I've ever had. I could taste the specks of powder or something else in the drink, and it didn't taste anything like what a Thai tea should taste like. read more

The tea is good. I got the oolong milk tea with boba (boba costs extra). I was a little disappointed because I had some credit on my Apple Wallet but they weren't able to scan the QR and I had to pay with card. Not easy to find, nor access, limited parking near by, tables readily available, short wait to order, staff was polite, but they had no coffee drinks available, the bubble tea that I ended up with was way overpriced, had way too much ice, and did not taste good, not going there ever again. read more

I love Kung Fu Tea right now, mainly because I have two drinks that I am obsessed with. I'm sure you can go to any KFT and you'll get the same result. My two recommendations here that I have gotten again and again are: 1. cocoa cream wow with milk cap and wow boba, add oreo, 70% sweet and less ice - This drink is described to me as the mcdonald's mcflurry but make it asian and I mean they're not too far off but safe for lactose intolerant people so even more thumbs up! I like the wow boba a lot better than the regular boba too, it's not as firm, feels like it's easier to digest. NOTE: they are not very consistent with giving the amount of Oreos and they have messed up the order here once before like forgetting to add it when we paid for it. When they remade the drink, they didn't use wow boba. 2. Honey green tea, hot - This drink sounds so simple but it's so good. It's the perfect balance of tea flavor and honey. I usually order regular sweetness but sometimes after I get to half of it, think I could reduce the sugar a little bit. I tried to remake this and couldn't because the type of tea to water ratio and the kind of honey they use blend really well together. I've gotten this drink cold and hot, I think both are great but I prefer hot. This place is not very big inside (still enough space for a boba shop) and usually pretty busy. They have a screen next to pick up that will show your name, which is cool. Recently, they added a self order so you go straight to the right and order it yourself. It feels clean and nice like most KFTs. This is located in a plaza so there's free parking. It does get busy here so the spots feel like it's always full, but you shouldn't have any problems finding a spot. If anything, there are more spots behind that sports bar next to it. read more

Kung Fu Tea - Cocoa wow milk with wow cap and wow boba, add oreo. This is more Oreo than usual so don't expect this every time - Bubble Tea Near Me - Austin, Texas

I've come here a couple times and I will say it's probably the worst boba place in town. Some drinks taste super strong and artificial. I've never seen a boba place charge separate for regular tapioca and charge extra for a brown sugar coating. Every other boba place it's like it's the norm for the tapioca to be coated in brown sugar. I guess a sleazy business tactic. The customer service is unfriendly and uninviting. Every time I go in, it's like I need to leave asap when I receive my drink. There's definitely WAY better boba places out there. I'd skip this any day for happy lemon, tea cup, or teapioca lounge. Literally anything else. read more

I had no idea Kung Fu Tea was as big of a chain as it is since I've only ever been to locations in Toronto (which is very, very far from Austin, TX). I was lucky enough to come across this bubble tea shop when I was both super thirsty and also needed to kill time before my next activity. This regular sized bubble tea shop had two employees working and not a customer in site when I entered the shop. I ended up ordering a passion fruit slushy drink with tapioca pearls. I'm not really sure how long the drink took to actually make because for some reason they put it on the Counter in the back of the store and didn't feel the need to say my name or even gesture that it was done, which would of been nice. Although the service left something to be desired, one plus is that they have jenga blocks on the table that make for a fun game to play as you drink or wait for it. Overall, this location left something to be desired. The drink itself was alright but the service kind of ruined the experience for me, was just kind of rude. I'm sure this place will do those bubble tea cravings just fine, it's worth a visit. read more

The lady with the eyebrow piercings and finger and arm tattoos was extremely rude off rip. Simply came in to order some boba drinks for our family and she immediately had a rude tone. She asked if that was all to which my partner said "Oh yeah they're just looking" pointing to her sisters. Mind you no one was in the store and the lady waited until my partner turned around to roll her eyes. She shouldn't have a service job if she's gonna have such a disgusting attitude. She needs to go. So it took me a while to come around to liking KFT. I've been a fan of another franchise for their cheese foam and didn't want to try another one due to boba shops popping up exponentially in the Austin area. I couldn't keep up and just stuck to my usual. I was really craving a drink and KFT was right there in the same shopping center I was at so I decided to try it. One of my friends has been nagging me to try it. Well, obviously based on the 5 star rating, I loved it! The milk cap was dense and had the right amount of sweetness and saltiness. And there's a reward app! Parking can be frustrating because of Pluckers and the poker place. read more

There's been a lot added to the menu since we've been here. The popping boba for one, we asked about the difference between boba and popping boba and the girl replied, " they just pop" lol well duh. The girl at the front is not helpful she answers question about drinks with "I guess". If you haven't tried a drink say "I'm not sure". I don't get what these positive reviews are? This place is hit or miss. When the boba are fresh and they get your order right it's heavenly. When they aren't fresh or they mix your order up, it's a sad day. Great milk teas and boba! One of my favorite places. Last night right before 9 pm the worker there starts playing "Closing Time". It was cute and we got the point. My friends and I started getting our things together to leave. Then the music gets turned up and the song is BLARING. We were in our car at 9:01 so it's not like we overstayed our visit. A simple, "Hey everyone, thanks for visiting Kung Fu Tea. We are closing at 9" would have been a better business practice to the few patrons that were in there. Blasting the music like that was not cool. read more

Kung Fu Tea - Honey milk tea with boba. Very yummy. - Bubble Tea Near Me - Austin, Texas

Coming from the Bay Area, boba was easy access and plentiful there. Every week consisted of boba runs but since moving to Austin, this has definitely died down. Lol Kung Fu Tea is definitely comparable to what we had back in the Bay Area and their milk teas are great! Perfect taste, blend, and adjustments. We've only had their regular milk tea and winter melon milk cap which were both very good! I will definitely come back when I need a boba fix and to try their other drinks. Legit bubble tea place with A LOT of options, but fret not and don't worry about being overwhelmed, they have a handy and informative step-by-step guide on the ordering process. I kinda feel like it is like the Bubble Tea version of SBucks, you can tell the seasoned pros and regulars from the newbs who take what feels like a year and a half to order something or ask a bunch of questions. If you don't know what Taro is, google that business before you reach or the counter or live a little and find out if you like it or not...whichever keeps the line moving as this place does seem to always have a line (which I thinks speaks to the quality). My fav here is the Taro sluch light sweetness and oreo. I know, #bubbleteabasicb, but like what you like, right? In any case, good stuff for a decent price and relatively quick service. read more

Mmm tapioca, and legit customized flavors at that! Such a fun Wednesday evening being able to grab some cold sips while at Kung fu tea! They don't play! 30 min spots should help you get in and out for your drink order! I'm not that much of a tapioca fiend like sis is but this place is the bomb. You want less sugar, no sugar, read the menu! They got your hook up! Lactose free, slushies, smoothies, caffeine or hot drinks, yes you can has! Next to Tea Haus, I would suggest this place over Tapioca lounge for the following reasons: 1) Traditional flavors 2) Lots of options without the syrups 3) Provides dairy-free options (Lactos free) 4) Friendly staff and helpful if you do not know what to get 5) Tons of seating indoor, and a few outdoor. 6) Has board games for you and friends/family. Overall, a better environment and options that are closer to the authentic flavors of Taiwan (where Boba originated from). Lastly, not overpowering drinks for fluff: syrup, chemical and artificial flavors. They brew their teas and has some quality teas that are offered in their Boba (Bubble tea) mixes! Suggestions: Winter-melon green tea, Kung Fu Pomelo tea, Mango Green tea and mix it up with my Jelly Grass as the toppings rather then Boba(s) all the time :) read more
