There were hardware glitches after installation, but the Got Watts team reliably spotted them - without me realizing there was even an issue - and sent teams out to ensure my equipment worked as promised. Years later I noticed some leaks through my roof where some phase 2 panels were installed. I notified Got Watts and they sent large crews to my home to rectify the issue over several days. This was no small fix. They probably spent vastly more to rectify the leaks than they did to install the panels to begin with. No one likes to have problems with an install. But, it means a lot for a contractor to honor their commitment and spend vast sums to honor their warranty, and their word, to their customer. I've had "good companies" make promises they wouldn't honor once the initial check cleared. Got Watts was true to their word and treated me in a dignified manner that is rare these days. Working with the team (Darlene, Jeff, David etc.) to get the system designed and installed was very easy, they took care of everything, including getting the city to approve the design/installation for PG&E. Installation was a simple one day process, and best of all, we were essentially off the grid the next day. Interestingly East Bay Power Systems use American made solar panels (Aptos) and an American made power backup system (Tesla). Not only does the system perform flawlessly, because of there high output of the Aptos solar panels (up to 450W per panel) the whole array of 10 panels is virtually unseen. As an added bonus, they set up a Tesla app on your phone so you can see at a glance how mush power the system is generating, how much is being used to power the house, how much is used to charge the backup system and how much power is being sold to PG&E. For a system this good, overall cost was relatively low, far less than what I was quoted 5 years ago by two different companies. You may have noticed all my reviews to date on Yelp have been 5 star, this is deliberate. Life is too short to focus on that which does not make us happy. This is why I restrict my reviews to those things/places/services that make me happy and appreciate life. Sure, I have been to some really dreadful shops, hotels and restaurants etc., but, like I said, life is too short to spend time thinking and writing about them.

I got answers from Darlene that did not make sense. Sometimes her computer was down other times her phone was down. Sometimes she would call to give me a message only to realize that she had called the wrong customer. Did not enjoy working with her. Finally, Kara engaged and we got the Permission to Operate about two months after the install. Supposedly Jeff (the Business Owner) is no longer with the company and has gone back East, so not sure who is leading their future efforts. For future customers: hang on to a portion of the payment till the Permission to Operate is received not just the installation.

Theses panels have done an incredible job of heating our pool throughout the years, thanks to Diablo Solar maintaining them. Recently we had to replace our roof. Diablo Solar worked closely with us to take the panels off and put them back on right before and right after our roof was replaced. The crew did an amazing job! They were super polite, friendly, knowledgeable, professional and considerate. Zach, Gary and Joe took the panels off. They carefully placed them in our yard and did not damage a single piece. Zach and Julian put the panels back on our roof perfectly. They look beautiful and are again heating our pool flawlessly. Green Air actually took over Certified Heating's clientele (I was with Certified for 2 years) and they were wonderful. After they took over, they already cut down our maintenance visits from 2x a year to 1x a year. I wasn't too happy about it but the techs that came were nice and cordial. However, I'm not really sure what's going on. Maybe new management. I had my last maintenance service done in 6/2025. I moved in Dec 2025 and transferred my service to the new address. I scheduled a maintenance service for end of this month and just last Thursday, I got an update email that they were downgrading and removing all HVAC tune ups, air filter changes and solar cleaning. Basically all the benefits that I chose to pay the membership. What really angers and frustrates me is how no one is picking up their phones and it goes straight to vmail. When I did finally get an email reply, they stated that they would only apply my 5 month payments to the maintenance fees, so they basically didn't count the previous months I paid at my old home. I feel like that is pretty unfair, that I paid a full year to have no maintenance included and I would have to pay more money on top to match whatever fee they say maintenance services are currently. They didn't offer a refund or that my service I already scheduled back in May would be taken care of. Now I just want to cancel and take it as a loss since I can't get a clear answer. I will have to find a new company that hopefully cares about their customers.

We contacted the business in late July of last year to see about installing a solar system on our home before the end of the year. Within in days, Alessandro was here to meet us in person and provided us with a comprehensive breakdown for solar options and pricing. We loved that we were treated like actual people instead of a number in a queue. Given that there was a slight backlog of jobs they had to work through we were assured that we would have our system fully installed and activated before the end of the year, which we did! It was great working with Nick who was our onsite rep and Juan was always available to answer any questions we had by phone (of which I had many). Despite the number of times I called, he was always patient with me and provided detailed answers that gave me a better picture of our installation and how our system would operate moving forward. I can't say enough about how amazing the whole process was. Looking at our electrical bills right now and we're in awe of all of the savings we're getting, which validates our decision to purposefully oversize our system. I spoke with many contractors, and almost all of them sent salespeople who gave generic answers or tried to push cookie-cutter solutions that clearly didn't fit my setup. Carlos was completely different. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he wasn't a salesperson -- he's an engineer, and it shows. He took the time to deeply understand my system, reviewed actual spec sheets on the spot, and immediately identified issues that other contractors completely missed. Multiple companies told me Hyundai panels would work fine. Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. Joe came out to provide the estimate, and he and another installer completed the installation in just one day. They recommended using a pool cover to help retain heat overnight when temperatures drop, and that advice has worked well for us. Since installing the system and using the pool cover, our pool temperature has been averaging around 82°F in the morning and warming up to approximately 85-87°F during the day. We haven't experienced many really hot days yet, but so far the system is performing exactly as we had hoped. We're very happy with our decision and are glad we finally made the switch to solar.

Responses were slow and vague; I could not even get a ballpark estimate without repeated follow-ups. My last email requesting scheduling went unanswered, and then--three weeks later--Joe called on May 6 saying he was eight minutes away. I had no idea I'd been scheduled, and I was just lucky to be home. Bottom line: if you can get on Joe's calendar, you'll likely be happy with the repair. Just be prepared for shaky communication and scheduling from the office staff.

Solar optimum offered me Panasonic solar panels with a warranty guarantee from Panasonic which essentially guaranteed that as long as Solar optimum or any other certified installer installed our system that even if Solar Optimum were to go out of business, Panasonic would pick up the workmanship and product warranty for 25 years - this was something that no other company I reached out too could offer and to me made it clear that I wanted to go with Solar Optimum. After install Panasonic did send me a warranty certificate warranting the panels should Solar Optimum go out of business. The system works well. In its first year it significantly outperformed the estimated production by about 3MWH and YTD it will soon pass the production estimate for the entire 2024 year. There were two big issues when working with Solar Optimum - communication was brutal and would constantly be a back and forth of unanswered emails, non returned phone calls, and overall poor communication. The second issue was after install the installers drilled holes too deep and through my ceiling drywall and coordinating the install team to come out and fix it wasn't easy and took longer than it should have - when they finally came out to patch my drywall they smeared over some putty in the 8-10 holes, didn't paint it and didn't try and match the patches with my roofs texture leaving that responsibility with me. However because they're a smaller company there are far less mark ups compared to other solar companies and the price was far more competitive than any other company I cross shopped with an outstanding Panasonic backed warranty.

I don't understand how other people had such an amazing experience and we didn't. I'm starting to believe those are not real customers. KOTA HAD US GO THROUGH A NIGHTMARE and still are. Their team is unresponsive, they never followed up with us. We were never guided through the app that we have yet to download so we can check on our solar status. It's been almost 3 years!! Our original plan included a main panel upgrade, due to the fact that our panel was not working. This was needed to be able to get solar put on our house. When looking at the design they had everything tucked on the side of our house where the original panel was. However, when they came to do the actual install they put both boxes, the solar converter and the new main panel, directly on the front of our house. This was never agreed to, so we instantly stopped the work. It then took over a year to get them to work with pg&e to get it moved to the original location. They then left damage on the front of the house and it took us reaching back out to get them to fix it. As soon as they fixed it, we never heard from them again. I have reached out and nobody cares to respond. We had some guy by the name of "Parker" asking us for a rating..ridiculous! Asked us for a rating before confirming if we were even satisfied! I do plan on warning our neighbors through "Nextdoor" about them to notify them to look out for "KOTA SOLAR" and that they are dishonest, unreliable and to not trust them to commit to their job because they can care less about their customer service. We are CURRENTLY struggling, we are being ignored and it's be some stressful because we are still being charged through PG&E. Pictures I provided were of them reaching out and taking days to respond and have YET TO RESPOND. WAITING ON AN ANSWER. PER USUAL, we are being pushed aside.
