This was so quick! They had me at a table right away, and it was busy. They have Pepsi products so a little disappointed but not enough for a star since it's out of their control. Their fleischkuechle was a little different than my childhood, but still good. Topped off with a caramel roll...delicious. If you are German from Russia, definitely have to stop here.

I went here specifically for the knoephla and I have to say that I didn't love it. I did really like the strawberry rhubarb kuchen though. So much that I went back and got whole kuchen to go. They didn't have the same flavor, so hopefully I like the others just as well!

Kroll's is a chain of classic diners in the Bismarck area and I stopped into the one that's just off I-94 and the main strip of retail. Early in the morning, there was only one other customer at another table. The waiter was friendly and quite "you betcha" with my breakfast order. Three meat omelet with sliced tomatoes instead of home fries and hold the toast because I'm on a low carb diet. The omelet was cooked super quickly and tasted great. Loaded with ham and bacon and sausage, topped with cheese. A good, solid breakfast. Coffee was strong and good, I had three (three!) cups. [Review 10632 overall, round number 400 of 2019.]

We headed to Krolls Diner in Bismarck for brunch. We planned to get take out and I'm glad we did. Since masks are not required in North Dakota, not a single person in Krolls Diner was wearing one. I was the only one and I stuck out like a sore thumb! Atmosphere: The outside of Krolls diner looks like a stereotypical diner. There is a sign that says: sit down and eat. Krolls Diner is a 50s-style restaurant serving up German and American dish. It's a giant silver building with chrome everywhere. The inside has several booths, tables, and a full length bar. You couldn't get a more picture perfect diner than Krolls Diner. Coffee: I ordered a plain coffee at Krolls Diner and it tasted good. There was nothing unique or unusual about the coffee but it did taste good. Food: Krolls Diner menu is known to be a German and diner focused food. They serve items like kielbasa, and german skillets.  They are known for their knoephla soup or their hand-scooped shakes and malts. I was in the mood for steak and eggs so that is what I ordered. The steak and eggs came steak, eggs (I chose scrambled), hashbrowns, and I chose sourdough bread. I asked for rare steak and my steak was cooked well down. With the plastic utensils, it was comical watching me attempting to eat it. While the steak was disappointing, the hashbrowns were good and I appreciated how much butter was added to the sourdough toast. Service: The waitress at Krolls Diner was friendly and our food was ready when I came to pick it up. Would I Come Back? I liked Krolls Diner and understand different states are following different policies in regards to masks. The food at Krolls Diner was good and the waitress was friendly.

I like the shakes and soup but the place is very spendy and outdated. Last time I was there the guy taking my bill had raw bacon on his shoulder. A very strange encounter.

The rest room was the worse that I have ever seen!! I wonder what the kitchen looked like. If I could give a -5 star rating I would!

Went here for pancakes one night and they were really good. Love the diner feel of the place and the waitress was pretty friendly.

I rarely ever write a review but this place is deserving. The quintessential diner experience: waitress bantering with the regulars, home made pie (that you always seem to get the last slice of), perfectly brewed coffee, friendly service, and absolutely delicious food. I would eat here everyday if I could. The entire diner has an overarching feel of nostalgia wrapped in a hug in front of a fireplace? If that makes sense? The Chocolate Creme pie might have been the best piece of pie I have ever had. The soup of the day was incredible, and if you are lucky enough to get a caramel roll, I highly recommend it. The single worst part of this experience was realizing I would not be able to have it again soon as I was traveling through. But you can bet your rear end the next time I am in Bismarck, I am making a drive over to Ohm's Cafe. Arguably might the best diner in America. Food was delicious, not too greasy, homemade, full of flavor, affordable, and just exquisite. However you define this restaurant, I do not care, all I care about is making sure whatever it is, there is more of it.

I kind of understand the appeal because it's sort of like home cooking. The problem is that my…read moremother wasn't that great a cook. The food was pretty bland. The knoephla soup had a ton of knoephla swimming in sweet cream, but no potato or any other flavor. The only redeeming dish we had was the sour cream apple pie. It's not that any of it was bad... it just wasn't all that great. Although I know people who sear by it, so take my opinion with a pinch of pfeffer. Service was quick, and the server was helpful. The ambiance is VERY small town cafe.

I've even made my own from scratch with very good results. But I must say: The Walrus blew my mind. Their presentation is absolutely fantastic. The cakes are meaty, just-right-crispy and delicious and they are served perched on a bed of gorgeous greens. The greens are lightly dressed in a lovely vinaigrette and topped with perfectly roasted veggies and feta. YUM! We also ordered the artichoke and spinach dip. Delicious. AND served with plenty of yummy crostini for dipping. So many places skimp on the dippers, and it's always annoying. Not so at The Walrus. Service was prompt, friendly, attentive and efficient. If I'm ever back in Bismarck, I'll be campaigning for a return visit. Until then, I'll be dreaming about those crab cakes.
