Im from Kansas and live in Chicago, this place is WORTH it. Top 10 meal experience I have had in the past decade and I have eaten at 3-Star Michelin rated establishments. I rarely ever write a review but this place is deserving. The quintessential diner experience: waitress bantering with the regulars, home made pie (that you always seem to get the last slice of), perfectly brewed coffee, friendly service, and absolutely delicious food. I would eat here everyday if I could. The entire diner has an overarching feel of nostalgia wrapped in a hug in front of a fireplace? If that makes sense? The Chocolate Creme pie might have been the best piece of pie I have ever had. The soup of the day was incredible, and if you are lucky enough to get a caramel roll, I highly recommend it. The single worst part of this experience was realizing I would not be able to have it again soon as I was traveling through. But you can bet your rear end the next time I am in Bismarck, I am making a drive over to Ohm's Cafe. Arguably might the best diner in America. Food was delicious, not too greasy, homemade, full of flavor, affordable, and just exquisite. However you define this restaurant, I do not care, all I care about is making sure whatever it is, there is more of it. read more

I kind of understand the appeal because it's sort of like home cooking. The problem is that my mother wasn't that great a cook. The food was pretty bland. The knoephla soup had a ton of knoephla swimming in sweet cream, but no potato or any other flavor. The only redeeming dish we had was the sour cream apple pie. It's not that any of it was bad... it just wasn't all that great. Although I know people who sear by it, so take my opinion with a pinch of pfeffer. Service was quick, and the server was helpful. This was really a nice surprise in Bismarck. Being from Texas I'm always skeptical of Mexican/Southwestern restaurants in places far from the "Chilie Belt but this was very very good. We only had the lunch Taco Salads, which were packed with meat and other goodness! ;) The chips were warm and their salsa, while not as spicy as we'd like, was nevertheless very good. As far as old authentic greasy spoon diners go, this is the real deal. Founded in the 50s and resilient through the years according to the various pictures and articles hanging in the diner. As a diner, you'd expect good homemade food and the specials of the week included creamed chicken, cabbage rolls, and a tater tot hotdish. But they have plenty of other options as well. I ordered the standard Ohms Breakfast with 2 scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, toast and a side of hand pattied sausage - see picture. The food was delicious, the waitstaff was attentive and quick to refresh our coffee and the prices were incredibly reasonable. Tough to ask for much more. 5 stars! read more

This is a must go when you are in Mandan. Pretty sure it's the longest operating restaurant in the metro area. It has been recently renovated and now is serving cocktails and beer. Super good! Old style food and service was quick! My favorite is the good ole pancakes and Hashbrowns!

This is easily the best breakfast spot in town. The chicken fried steak was crispy and delicious, but the gravy stole the show. I could put this gravy on just about anything and eat it. Pancakes were nice and fluffy as well, so no complaints there. The service was quick and the staff was attentive even on a busy Saturday morning. Despite living in Mandan for 18 years of my life, I've never been to Ohm's. So, when my brother and I were trying to pick a place to go to breakfast with my dad, this seemed like the perfect spot. It's a small cafe located at the end of main. It's so far West that it doesn't really feel like main anymore. We found a place to park on the street right out front and walked in. It's not very big inside. There are booths on the walls and some tables in the middle. We grabbed a booth and waited to order. I ordered tea with a mushroom and swiss omelette. My dad and brother ordered breakfast plates with eggs, hash browns, toast, and a choice of meat. I was happy with my omelette. The mushrooms in it didn't taste canned, which was nice. However, all of our toast was burned. It still tasted good if you put jelly on it though. To top it off, I got two carmel rolls on my way out. I am still amazed that you can't get carmel rolls in other parts of the country. This basically fits the mold for a small town cafe. It's a place where you can expect to find groups of regulars who get together for coffee. However, the prices were a bit higher than I expected. I would come back for breakfast again when I'm in town. While we were there, my dad told me that he would walk over to Ohm's at 9pm when he was a kid because they had a special (5 hamburgers for a dollar). That alone made me want to come back. I USUALLY DONT LEAVE YELP REVIEWS I have to start out by saying I never have had the urge to leave a yelp review for a restaurant. When you walk into the ohm cafe it feels like a old school family cafe. Right off the bat you are greeted with a smile from a very helpful waitress who mind you stops by about every 5 minutes just to make sure you are OK. So my wife ordered the sausage skillet, and I ordered the oatmeal brown sugar french toast special. When the food arrived it all looked hand made, and cooked with love. The French toast was hand on heart the best french toast i have ever had. The skillet was bursting with flavor, and fresh cut peppers and onions, and bits of sausage dance across your tongue. If you are thinking of eating here dont think twice, just take the plunge like we did, and have a fantastic breakfast. read more

Stopped into Ohms for breakfast. Ohms is off the beaten path located a few miles outside of Bismarck and at the far end of Mandan. Very small and unassuming. Breakfast was really good. I had biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and hash browns. I have no complaints. I grew up in the south and it's hard to find really good biscuits and gravy in North Dakota or the Midwest that I'm used to or can compare. Ohms did a really good job. The sausage gravy was creamy and had nice chunks of sausage. Well seasoned also. The biscuit fell a little flat for me. It didn't seem sturdy under the gravy. But overall it was tasty. The service was great. The staff was friendly and you can tell this is a locals hangout. The staff new many of the patrons by first name. A lot of farmers and cowboys here. I would definitely say stop in to Ohms for some breakfast or lunch. I'll add this to my breakfast stops next time I'm in town for work. read more

What a perfect little treasure on the west end of Main in Mandan! The burgers are awesome and Pam (our waitress) was top-notch! Cannot recommend them enough! The only drawback to this place is that they are not open evenings....but makes going there well worth the trouble! read more
