I absolutely love this Kroger. Everyone who works there is happy and helpful. They have a fantastic selection of groceries, and always a clean and bright store. Their deli and other ready to eat foods section is really large with lots and lots of choices. I absolutely love their brand of several types of potato, pasta and chicken salad choices plus so many other side dishes. My favorite is their broccoli salad. read more

Late night grocery run. I haven't been in a Kroger since the 90's!!! This was a pleasant surprise, nothing has changed, everything looked the same except they had a few self checkout kioks. Has a little bit of everything for a one stop shop. Parking is across the street from the actual store, no biggie. Also seems to be a hangout in front of the store for locals late night. This was my first time at a Kroger. It was in a busy area. I was surprised at how outdated and dirty it was on the inside. We did self check out which was fine. We purchased several drinks and had them in a cart. Once we hit the parking lot we couldn't even move the cart because they had it locked down. We had to pick up the drinks and go back and forth to our car in the parking lot. I have no desire coming to this location again. read more

Honestly it's a Kroger so I wasn't expecting anything spectacular. It felt a little cramped but it wasn't that bad. If you know anything about parking in downtown Savannah it can sometimes be an absolute nightmare trying to find parking that isn't in a garage. When visiting Savannah last weekend, my friends and I rented a house so we needed to stock it with foods and drinks! We decided to go grocery shopping at this Kroger since it was in the neighborhood we were staying in. There is a parking lot across the street so it's easy to find parking. They had lots of carts in the parking lot, but not many were ready to use near the entrance so we had to back track and find a cart for our trip. They had a Starbucks at the entrance, so it was really congested at the front of the store. But once we made it past that spot, we got to the bakery and the deli where we picked up lots of snacks (meats, cheese, crackers, dips, etc) and then we found an awesome cake shaped like a pumpkin that we had to grab too! As we made our way through the store, we were able to find all of the items we needed for a fun weekend. They sell beer and wine, but not liquor, but we were happy with the assortment of wines and seltzers that we purchased. When it was time to check out, the cashier was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. We asked for help finding water bottles, so she pointed us to the correct location. The check out process was easy, the person helping with bags was good at organizing things in the shopping cart for us and even offered to help take the cart outside. All in all, this store had everything we needed and more! read more

I spend quite a bit at Kroger, and the Gwinnett Street, downtown store is my least favorite. You'll wait in lines much of the time, or you'll be forced to use their self serve kiosk. The only reason I go here is because of Starbucks and it's really close to my job. The Starbucks is definitely a 5 star but Kroger not so much. They don't enforce the mask policy all the time and it's ALWAYS busy with only 2 checkout lines open. I went into Kroger to get candy for the office and I was there most of my hour break just waiting in line. Killin' my Valentine's vibe. The location of this store is close to my home and conveniently placed near the heart of Savannah. The staff are helpful and immediately put my basket back when I was done shopping. This is where things go south. It was Valentine's Day and very busy. Flowers, cards and a myriad of other gifts were leaving the store when I arrived around 11am. So why were employees blocking the dedicated Valentine's aisle during my entire visit and did not appear to be completed when I was leaving? (See photograph.) Not only were employees blocking the holiday aisle, there was another large rack needing to be unloaded while an employee stayed glued to her cell phone. Most aisles in the store were in the same unfortunate state while many customers struggled to sneak by the stocking staff. It was an unfortunate time to be doing this type of work. Please Kroger, help us lovers out on this day and clear those aisles so we can get back to our loved ones. Thanks in advance for next year. read more

During Covid 19 this store needs to step up. Hand wipes are not available, and the meat section is often scant. This branch has come a long way but has a long way to go. They have renovated and have a slew of managers, but remain out of touch. Once I stopped a manager to commend a helpful clerk, but he seemed perturbed that I was taking up his time. I often come for staples but if you need assistance, forget about it. Clueless staff is the norm. Sale items are not priced correctly on the shelves. Check your receipt. The butchers are the worse and often are not behind the counter. Today was an example after waiting three minutes for help. I finally spotted a clerk, he asked me to wait while he moved items around. Really? Another butcher arrived, and both of them could not locate the New York Strip as advertised. They gave up after 30 seconds and did not look in the walk in fridge. If management is listening, this is a bad for business. read more

My wife and I are visiting from Miami and have rented a place a few blocks from this Kroger at 311 E. Gwinnett. We've been here for a little over a month and have visited this location a few times, most recently this afternoon. The store itself is nice with a good selection of fresh, prepared, canned, and frozen items. In fact, I'd give Kroger 4 stars just for that. However, I have to subtract 2 stars due to the ridiculous check-out situation and other service issues. First of all, when I arrived today, I walked into the store and couldn't find a shopping cart. I asked one employee where they were and she pointed toward the other door opening and I headed in that direction. When I got to that location, I still couldn't find any carts, so I asked the security guard who was just standing by the entrance. He pointed out the door and said that they're all across the street in the parking lot. Wonderful. So I walked back out of the store, crossed the street, and found a cart in the parking lot. I then returned to the store to do my shopping for the week. After filling up my cart with groceries, I headed to the checkout area and was chagrined to see only one lane open with a long line. While waiting in the long line, I looked around and noticed how the checkout area was organized. There are 21 registers that can be used to check out; 17 of which are self-checkout, and four that are traditional lanes with an employee ringing up the items. Unfortunately, as I noted above, only one of the four traditional lines were open, which is ridiculous. Self checkout is great if you have a few items, but not if you have $50 or $100 or more in items to be scanned. Consequently, I will only be returning to this location if I just need to pick up a few items. If I'm going pick up a significant amount of items, I'll drive a few miles south and go to Publix. read more

We don't have Kroger in Orlando so this was a bit of an adventure coming here for the first time. People were nice, and they had local items available but unless you had one of their savings card it wouldn't even be worth shopping there. Worst Kroger EVER. As a matter of fact, we used to own a shopping center that featured a Kroger, so I know a little bit about this. This place is a mess - looks like a tornado blew through it with shelves in total disarray. Poor product selection, poor signage, dirty, and absolutely no service at all. Not a single live cashier on duty - it's self-check out or leave. We left. Now given the volume of merchandise we had, they could have made money by opening a check out rather than wasting it by having an employee put it all back - or did they ever put it all back? Given the look of the place, I can imagine the cart still sitting where I left it - perishables and all. I believe the only factor that keeps this place in business is the distance to other grocery stores. There's no way I'd shop there ever again. read more

I arrived at the Kroger store at 6:30 am. I noticed the parking lot was half full. When I went inside, there were only a few shoppers. I then realized that the employees were parking by the entrance. Worst place in Savannah... Here was today's experience. At self checkout, the sale items I purchased did not ring up for the sale price. I raised my arm to ask for assistance from the person assisting those at self checkout. I told Tomika (your employee) what the sale price was and that the items were not ringing up correctly. She said, rudely, that she would go check. She returned and said the items were not on sale. I told her I would walk back with her to show her. (Since I doubted that she had time to go to the location and actually check) She said, "You want to speak to a manager?" I said yes. Another employee came to assist me. She and I walked to the items where she in fact did see that they were on sale, twirled herself around and slung her hair in my direction. All of this wasting my time and was obvious due to the lack of Tomika's assistance. While the second employee was correcting the price, I said to Tomika, who was standing next to the register, that the items were on sale. I did this in hopes no other customer would have to deal with the issue. She slung her hair at me again while spinning around quickly. I asked the person correcting my order if she witnessed Tomika's action. She said she did and asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. I mentioned that I thought she was a manager. She said she was a floor manager and wanted to know if I wanted to speak to THE MANAGER. I guess her being a floor manager it is not of her concern how Tomika was acting. I didn't have time to wait and speak to a store manager, or I would have!!! She then told me that Tomika was leaving in a week. I assume she was telling me to be of some relief that she would not be working there, but I was only concerned with how I was being treated at the moment. I mean, it's a grocery chain, so it gets the job done. But I would definitely NOT recommend buying produce here given all the people that touch it and the clientele that roams the aisles. Never have I ever been shopping for groceries and have panhandlers come and ask me for money whilst shopping)...until I came here. It's also expensive unless you have a member card, so if you don't then go to the nicer stores and pay the same price. This lady (a Karen) was about to start a fight with this other lady over a line because the line was crowded because everyone was trying to leave before the big storm and the main Karen that started the fight push the other lady shopping cart which push into my daughter's stomach and hurt her and even tho the Karen said sorry to my daughter it doesn't help the fact that no other workers didn't break the fight sooner and thankfully some folks broke it up in time but overall the shopping experience there is not a safe place to relax and get groceries and don't worried my daughter is fine.the store need to get Better security read more

Stopped in to get a drink and use the restroom and the bathroom was very dirty and completely out of toilet paper AND paper towels. Someone came in and I warned them from the stall about the issue and they went to report it to the staff, and no one came to put any in, to the point my partner had to buy toilet paper themselves for me to be able to get out of the stall. We shopped here on a slow Sunday morning. There were few customers in the store. We wanted to purchase organic, raw, unrefined coconut oil. They only had 100% pure Lou Ana oil which is refined and not worth buying without Lauric acid and MCT. I asked some employees about the missing product. They told me that Kroger shut down their health foods department to save money. Now, the only coconut oil you can buy is worthless. Later we found a horrific scene of chaos. They had no check out cashiers! Everyone was lined up behind automated machines that were not working. In other stores, there is enough space. Kroger had 10 check out machines in a space that would handle four, like Lowe's, Home Depot, Walmart, and HEB. This disaster was something my BW had never experienced. Thank you HEB and Walmart, maybe that's why Kroger was run out of San Antonio 25 years ago. read more

Where do I begin? Don't shop here. Period. There will be one register open on a Saturday at noon. 20 plus people in line and no other associates will open a register. Yes they have all self checkouts open, but who wants to use those when you have a full buggy? "Please remove item from the bagging area!" Look, cash register. When you finally get checked out, 478 minutes after you walk in the door, you have to act like Frogger to cross the street to get to your car in the parking lot. This place is a gift in our neighborhood. Flower shop, pharmacy, Starbucks, fresh sushi, deli, bakery, butcher shop.... All employees are pleasant. Is the pace slower? Yes; but, it's Savannah. The biggest drag is all of the tourists who have ridiculous expectations and loudly express their perturbation. That and the college children who are there with their Mommas. If one is capable of managing "self checkout" there's never a line (except before a hurricane threat). BTW, who reviews a city grocery bathroom? This is one of the most ghetto, under-kept stores I have been to. There are open Gatorade bottles and half eaten bags of chips in every aisle, as well as missing and opened food items from packaging. The prices are fine, and the store is stocked, but it is not a place I feel comfortable walking around. It seems unfair to rate a store based on it's visitors, but I think it also says a lot about the establishment if you see unattended children sticking their hands in a box of donuts that hast been payed for and everyone treating it as normal. The fruit and vegetables are the only real plus side of this Kroger. They're always fresh and just ready to ripen. read more

Don't understand all the negative reviews, I've lived here for 5 years now and live just 2 very short blocks away. This is the busiest Kroger in Savannah and their produce is always fresh because of that. There are panhandlers every where in every city yes they may ask u while shopping , but I've also been asked for money while shopping at the victory location. Also, for any of u tourists reading, this location has the best fried chicken downtown. Yes, better than all the touristy restaurants . You're welcome. Don't try to get anything from the deli. You'll stand there for 15 minutes until the guy frying stuff in the back tells you to fill out what you want on the pad of paper and they'll get to it when they can. Don't ask the seafood guy if the shrimp with Old Bay on it is cooked because he'll tell you "Yes it's cooked. Look at the sign." (I had only seen raw shrimp seasoned with Old Bay in the past.) Then don't expect to check out in a timely manner. 1 checkout open. Line at least 10 people long for self check out. Horrible. read more

Great grocery store but I'm giving a 2 star on their restocking protocol. Twice now I've gone into get something simple and universal and they not only don't have it, but they don't restock for a good while. The item I needed today was plunger - every other bathroom supplies that you could need was available, and plungers were the only one not filled. Show lack of paying attention to what a store needs because I should not have to buy a plunger on Amazon or anything that I can easily get a local grocery store. read more

Let's start with the positive... the architecture is unique to any grocery I have been to, cool arching windows and red brick, suits the neighborhood and the staff we interacted with at the self checkout was very friendly. They also have a decent wine selection. Okay that is it. Not so great otherwise. I scolded my husband for suggesting we drive to Whole Foods rather than walk to this store in the neighborhood where we are staying. I even called him snobby and made him go here anyway. Well, he was right. He read the previous reviews and unfortunately they are pretty spot on in describing the store. Lots of people outside smoking/blocking entrance and requesting money, smells like rotten meat and pot as you walk up from the back, dirty floors inside and all the bakery/produce appears to be seconds not fresh. It was super crowded and really impossible to social distance. We got some wine and club soda and went to Whole Foods. Sorry Kroger I wanted to love ya. Unfortunately, since using this Kroger, I've been more and more disappointed. Lately, they run completely out of fresh fruit and vegetables (I am talking not a single banana for three days....), and the shelves are restocked often enough either. There were very very poor meat options, with most being almost expired. I'll sadly be trekking further out to other grocery stores in the future for my main grocery runs. read more
