a birthday cake with blue frosting

Honestly I love Kroger, I shop there all the time and when I need a cake for a celebration I order through them. However this particular time, I ordered a cakes for my husband surprise party and received a cake that looked to be decorated by a 5 year old. I tried to look past it and take a bite and it was rock hard & disgusting.

I've been shopping at this Kroger since it opened and have never had a single problem.

My last review of Lidl was 6 years and a pandemic ago, so time for an update. We are regular Lidl…read moreshoppers now, for some things. Milk, eggs, yogurt, some cheese, some cured meats are great, with better prices than elsewhere. Quality of meats is spotty, some good, some very not. It is easier for us to just avoid the fresh meat section. Beverages are priced well, although Kroger can beat them when they throw a sale. Produce is good if you use it right away, shorter life expectancy than other places. Bakery items are top notch. But here is the part where Lidl is invaluable..... we regularly buy pastas, sauces, cereals, soups, peanut butter, rice, spices, canned veg, toothpaste, those sorts of things for a "blessings box" near our home (take what you need.) At Lidl prices, we are able to do a LOT more than we would be able to do if we were spending the same dollars at another store. So THANKS, Lidl, for keeping folks fed. One thing I never have commented on in any review is the store's app. Lidl offers limited coupons and reward deals for previous shopping if you use their app (or punch in your info at the register.) This is not bad, although the larger grocers obviously do a lot more of it. Still, if you are going to Lidl with any frequency, the app is a Must.

Beautiful store and very friendly employees. I would like to give a special thank you to Barry in…read morethe meat department who took the time to trim and tie our Christmas beef tenderloin.

Here is what this, or any other Publix in the area, ISN'T…read more It isn't cheaper than Kroger. Or Food Lion. Or any other local grocer. Sorry, the market basket or whatever is used to compare is.... selective. It isn't particularly good in terms of ready to eat food, which is one of the corporation's selling points. A recent visit to the sandwich / hot food / feed me area went something like this: Me -- I'd like a XXX sandwich (from the menu board.) Employee -- oh we don't have that. We've never had that. They don't send us the stuff to make it. It's just on the board. It isn't particularly awe inspiring in terms of its baked goods or other convenience items. The bakery stuff is equal to Kroger, no better. And the salad bar, goddess help me, is seldom stocked up, and the soups are either empty or burned up on the table. So what does Publix have that brings me in? A half-decent staff in the pharmacy. This alone stole about 30% of my food shopping from Kroger, that doesn't G.A.S. about pharma customers. I say "half decen"t only because there is a fair lack of follow up at least at this Publix if a doc's office doesn't call back with a refill or a drug is not in stock (no calls to the customer to tell them to try elsewhere. DRUGS, people. This ain't a bagel. We literary need them to live.) Also, some good BOGO deals on regular stuff. And importantly, very few stock outs on grocery items. They carry, them, they have them. No other local chain is that dependable. But overall the prices are high. So Publix will never get the bulk of our grocery biz.
