Our local Publix deserves a 20 star shout out!! The staff is super friendly and efficient. Shelves are always stocked, faced perfectly and neatly priced. The olive bar has to be my favorite for its variety!! Checkout is fast and again very efficient with a bagger at each station. A big plus are the shopping carts themselves. They are always clean and well maintained. Even the outdoor cart return areas are spotless!! Nicely done Publix!! read more

Publix - Grocery Near Me - Richmond, Virginia

See all

Anytime we can get to a Publix we hit it up. It was located about 15 minutes from our hotel and we decided to do pub subs for dinner after a few hours on the road. I ordered the boars head roast beef with mayo, cheese and LTO. She got the chicken bacon ranch. Both were full sized subs. We also picked up a salad from the salad bar. These stores are always bright and clean and all laid out the same with is a major plus. They have plenty of hot bar options also. Tonight (Friday) was fish which looked good but we were here for the subs and a few adult sodas. They have a good selection of local breweries which I enjoy. To the gentleman and woman who made our subs, thank you. We were in around 5pm and they were fantastic. read more

Publix may add some dollars to your grocery receipt but the quality and selection are worth it! The buy one get one deals are awesome! $5.00 sushi Wednesday is a must. Always fresh and delish! The store is always spotless, shelves are well stocked and kept up throughout the day (the freezers look like they've been kept up by a designer)! Check it out! read more

I've waited a week to post this review because I wanted to make sure I wasn't being unfair and I wanted to give myself some time to take a breather and reflect on what happened. After a week I am still firmly against ever going back to this Publix. My views do not reflect on Publix as a whole or even this entire Publix store. But there's seafood department is sorely lacking and that is giving it far too much. Grace. My husband went there on two separate occasions and on one occasion it was around 7:30 (the store closed at 10) and they had told us that seafood was closed and the woman would not let him purchase any crab legs and seemed irritated that he had even showed up. This was unusual to us because every other Publix that we go to the seafood department stays open until much closer to closing. Fortunately, he was able to go the next day to grab crab legs but again he was met by the the same woman who for the second day in a row had the attitude that she was not at all happy to be there and seemed bothered that we would even dare to order from her. My husband ordered the crab legs and quickly left. I sat down to eat and they had tasted and smelled like straight ammonia. I quickly took them back for a refund and tried to complain to customer service and when I told him of the situation he initially told me that seafood closed at 8:00 but after hearing my complaint he changed it to 7:00. No apologies no "How can we make this right?" Just a refund on the rancid crab legs with no guarantee that it would never happen again and no word on speaking to the rude employee who clearly hates her job. read more

I'm fed up. I've given this Publix a million chances because it's on my way home from work. The staff is rude and unequipped. I run into an issue as far as organization and customer service every single time. Sales are never marked, items ring wrong constantly, and customer service cares even less than the employees who very clearly don't want to be there. The most recent issue was that after a long 9 hour day I came from work for a rotisserie chicken to find they're "out" and I have to wait 45 mins for one. Riddle me this, it's prime time. Families need dinner. If you see that you're low on supplies, maybe start the next batch? Complete lack of logic and customer service. I am now passive aggressively blocking the deli waiting for a chicken. Only 40 minutes to go. read more

I keep coming back here...so I guess this is now 'my' grocery store. After 14 years in DC and still connected to 'my' Harris Teeter, it has been something of a transition to RVa where the closest H&T is 50 miles away in Williamsburg....ahh..I don't think so. I lived in Lakeland, Fl during my HS years and Publix was 'the' grocery store there since it was founded by the Jenkins family who practically owned the city. I try not to go on a weekend, when they have a CSR at the end of every aisle who wants to 'help' you...think Costco sales person on 'roids. I don't really like that they don't have a loyalty program where you can 'see' the sales price or the BOGO options. You can register on their app or website and then see all the 'coupons' and then figure it all out at the register. It's not easy...but they are selling you on their 'discounts' but I feel like they are making you work for it...just not worth it. Why do I keep coming back? They do have their own brands and many fresh prepared food options and I especially like their pre-made salads with all the variety. They have a good deli and great freshly prepared ready to eat options as well. It's clean, their staff is helpful and friendly and they always have a dedicated bagger who always offers to help you to your vehicle. I always say 'no thank you' but smile when I see the lil ol ladies take the offer and are just so thrilled they have the help. You will pay a little more...but it's an upscale experience and not quite the 'sensory' overload of a Wegmans. It's still an employee owned grocery store and they are expanding aggressively in the southeast...and it's still Publix 'where shopping is a pleasure' read more

The nicest people ever in a grocery store in my life! Whoever hired them must have worked at chick fil a because I thought I was Beyoncé or something the way everyone in the store went out their way to tell me hi or ask if i needed anything! Customer service was amazing. This is a new store in my area and i only came in because i love the way Publix looks and they really wow Update* Trying the hot bar today- I tried the pulled pork, Mac n Cheese, sweet potato fries and their famous fried chicken. I see why people like their fried chicken. I got mine as they were bringing it out so it was definitely fresh. Hot and crispy and perfect amount of salt. Nice color and crunch. Not dry at all or over cooked. The Mac n cheese must have real cheese. It wasn't super commercial. The sweet potato fries were good . I feel like you can't go wrong with cooking those and the pulled pork was good I could add a sauce to that but i have plenty to take home so i might just do that. I'll be back to try more soon. read more

The store is always clean and the associates are kind and attentive. Never have to wait in a line - if they see one forming someone opens another register. The pharmacy here is THE BEST ... the pharmacists are quick, thorough, and splendid to work with! read more

Publix, is , a wonderful store , a great food shopping experience. That is saying a lot for the traditional shoppers of Richmond, especially the "old school " shoppers, and middle aged ones like me. The cashiers are friendly, and of course, that is often , the only person we interact with. The upstairs seating to eat is kinda unique and fun. The stores are immaculate, the deli , salad bar (yum) are delish. Everything is wonderful at Publix. I believe, with all the fuss about new grocery stores, that was the excitement last year, omg! they*re building new grocery stores in RVA!, that things have settled down now. As for me , and my family, we will ....................shop at Publix. read more

Awesome location, fresh produce, great prices, and excellent customer service. We would definitely come back!

Publix has a good selection of fresh produce and meats as well as many other areas. The deli and prepared foods have a wide range of choices. They have a nice bakery area but are deficient in sugar-free selections. Overall their prices tend to be a little higher than some other stores. But their quality is consistently very good. read more

I live here! I was a little apprehensive about Publix moving into the neighborhood but this brand is pretty amazing. When you walk in there is usually someone just inside the door or outside to greet you and ask if you need anything. As you maneuver around the store there are lovely smiling people in every department cleaning, restocking, or leaning a helping hand. Their customer service is AMAZING from helping you find what you are looking for to helping you to your car. There is also a huge variety of products and usually things that I cannot find at other places. If you need a grocery store THIS. Is. It. read more

WARNING!!! RUDE & MEAN PEOPLE!!!! Recently tried used the Publix Pharmacy to fill a prescription that was called in for our poor puppy who had an infection from a botched nutere (that we tried to get done less expensively at Powahatan Animal Hospital). The pharmacist, Jeff, who take with us was so incredibly rude, disrespectful and loud and over reacting about the situation. He threatened us in multiple different ways and then threatened to call the police on us (which was shocking) inferring we are drug addicts. He refused to fill the prescription and refused to tell us what it even was or if there was something over the counter we could use that was comparable, yet he indignantly refused to even give us this information. Once he was able to compose himself and calm down from his outrageous tirade, he began to explain his concern with having a prescription called in right before a vet closed and was not able to confirm back with the prescriber, which I understood. After that, I knew that the issue was Powhatan Vet Hospital should have faxed in or given us a physical prescription (never let them phone it in, it's not official). The issue of not having the prescription filled was on the hands of Powhatan Vet Hosptial. But the rudeness and loud, insulting, threatening triad from Jeff the pharmacist was just about the most disrespectful and shocking way I have ever been treated in my life. Frank the Manager - Please reach out to me about this, I have been loving the new Publix near my house and used to have great experiences dealing with the people in Lakeland when Publix was a customer of mine. But... I will never go again and will be vocaially critical of Publix unless this situation is addressed. I'm not kidding when I say Jeff treated me with more disrespect than anyone I can remember in a long time, I can't believe he is employeed at such a great organization. read more

This was my first visit to a Publix and I was so impressed. Every part of the store was spotless and I was welcomed by many employees. I am a vegan and was so excited to see a large selection of meatless entrees in the frozen section and also dairy free ice cream that I had never tried! Everyone was so friendly and helpful! read more

I went in to buy dinner for my 98 yrs. old mother for Mother's day at Publix Forest hill branch. I was told on the counter that there's 15 mins. wait. I agreed. After waiting for 15mins. a customer came to the counter and right there and then without waiting they gave her my wings that I been waiting for all this time and supposedly dinner for my mother for Mother's day! I politely ask where are the wings that they ask me to wait on and all looked surprised like a deer on a headlight! The lady who gave away my order knew I was waiting for it to cook and the cook at the back knew I was waiting for it because the guy at the counter asked him how long is the wait. And what get's me is they have the nerve to ask to wait again while they cook another batch! I love your store and some of your staff but you have a few incompetent people that can not do a simple task. They only have one job to do and seems like it's too difficult for them to do. I made sure the store manager know what had happened. Thank you. read more

I don't know if it's just this location or it happens to all locations. There is a big problem with restocking. Too frequently the items I'm going to buy are out of stock. I buy mostly the sale and BOGO items. Other than this and Publix prices are high I like the store in my neighborhood. The employees are friendly as is the manager. read more

Excellent store. Very accommodating staff with pleasant attitudes. It reminds me a lot like the old Ukrops. read more

Meat department is a complete disaster. I have been waiting here for 30 minutes to get a half pound of Munster sliced. I was originally given beechwood cheddar. Update 3/26. I thought they were getting better.......now the fountain machine is completely out of every soda... I was told get a jug of tea...I don't want tea... read more

My only complaint about this store and it's a big one, it's the deli area of this store. Unfortunately, it's a lot like the Martins store that was once here. Either they are woefully understaffed or just extremely slow because it can take forever to get a simple order of deli meats or prepared foods. Otherwise, the rest of the store workers are great and the pharmacist are the best. read more

Nice friendly service. Store clean with lots of options. Great deli pizza salad bar options. First time shoppers get a free deli sandwich. Enjoy read more

Just not good. Deli counter is a mess most of the time, and they don't pre-cut any deli meat to put out so folks always have to wait. Having one person work the counter is ridiculous and i'd wager they would sell alot more deli meat if they pre-cut some or added more staff. Every other grocery store pre-cuts their meat for this very reason. Lack of small push carts. As you know grocery stores these days have the big cart and the smaller more reasonable cart. I always opt for a smaller cart because i don't need that much stuff and it creates less clutter in the aisles when shopping. This store never has enough of the smaller carts forcing me to get one of the big clunky ones. Stock less big carts and more smaller carts. Coffee counter. One time i went in the morning to get a quick iced coffee, which they were out of. I was offered an iced americano instead and agreed. After making it they couldn't for the life of me ring the damn thing up. Took many minutes of fidgeting and finally they just rang me up for a normal medium coffee of the same price. I'll be sticking with the Food Lion down the street. The people are nicer, they have the carts i want, food is cheaper, and they pre-cut their deli meat. Publix is a disaster. read more

Really excellent customer service here. Employees are always really nice and really helpful. Five stars for superb service and a good selection overall. I'm deducting a star because I wish they'd stay open after 10, for some reason they close their hot bar really early, and they could improve their selection of craft ciders. read more

They should mention that "platters" always come cold. Otherwise, they were friendly and the store is very clean.

This by far is the best Publix I've ever had the pleasure of shopping at. Their level of customer service goes above and beyond anything I've experienced. The store is exceptionally clean and all their employees are the nicest people you'll ever meet. Two thumbs way up you guys are rocking it. read more

Whenever you can get the Mardi Gras wings at Publix they're really gOod. The problem is, they run out so much that you almost have to put in an order every visit. read more

Horrible experience at Forest Hill Publix today. Made the mistake of getting in the fast track checkout with more than 10 items. I genuinely hadn't noticed the sign. The cashier was busy chatting with his cashier friend so didn't notice me loading the belt. When he did finally turn around, he chastised me in front of other customers for having too many items. I should have just walked out at that stage. Back to Wegmans for me. read more

I am very happy with this store. I now drive a bit farther to go to this Publix rather than the Kroger in Carytown. Publix is always clean, the produce is always fresh and the store is so much calmer than Kroger! I will continue to shop here. read more

This is a great store for produce. I always get good fruit and vegetables here. The store is always clean and employees are helpful.

If you are looking for a real fruit tart run far from this bakery. They do not know what a fruit tart is. Chocolate and fruit tarts do not go together! read more
