I have loved Kristine Nails since I moved to North Mesa two years ago! This review is long overdue. They know me by name, which feels awesome! I see Dionna, unless she is unavailable. I regularly get pedicures and acrylics done by her, and I just love her work. I always get the ultimate pedicure with gel, which is completely worth it for all of the ways that they make you feel pampered! Their prices are fabulous compared to some other places in the area and I always leave feeling special and refreshed. They also just got new massage chairs, and they are glorious and the foot bath is beautiful.

We're so happy we went to Kristine's for an express pedicure today! We both got gel polish and it turned out beautiful. The ladies who took care of us were friendly, efficient and focused. The gel polish was only $15 more ($35 total). Such a steal for the incredible quality! And it was fast! Will be back ;)

Did I even get a dip manicure?

Whelp..... Took 2 hours to get a gel pedicure and dip manicure- Not the bad part. The pedicure is subpar- Not worth $50 because my toenails are uneven and have points, not to mention the nails aren't painted all the way. However, it's the $40 manicure that blows my mind. The guy who did them- Was nice but I'm questioning whether he just didn't care because they were busy or really couldn't see how terrible this was. Also- I've never gone somewhere that didn't offer a white or black base coat, if they knew the color was basically a clear coat. I am NOT a happy customer. UPDATE- Thanks for your response Kristine's Nails! I mentioned in my review you were busy, I'll note- I had an APPOINTMENT. Also we were the ONLY 2 pedicures at 5:30.... So no excuse there. I was also, the only one having a service done on my hands and was rushed out of the chair to make room for someone else- So the opportunity to say anything was completely void. I would have thought that when I looked at my hands multiple times or sat there taking pictures would have been a non-verbal sign I wasn't happy. I'll skip coming back and spend $90 somewhere that wouldn't let me walk out with my hands and feet looking like the pictures. Thank you!

Removed gel polish with dremel tool and destroyed my nails

I had one good experience followed by one very poor one. I just moved next door and was excited to have a salon so close. I don't get my nails done often but I like to do gels every once in a while. I went the first time a few weeks ago and got my toes and feet done with gel polish. The owner Kristine did them and she did a great job, she's very nice too and you can tell she really cares about her business. I went a few days ago to get the gels on my hands removed, and had a terrible experience. Someone else did them this time and literally just dremeled the polish off with the rotating tool, shaving off half of my nails in the process. It left my nails jagged and rough with huge gashes in them. Now they're super weak and keep breaking and I have visible dremel marks all over every nail. I should have said something but instead I just paid and left. Every other time I've had gels taken off they file the gel polish gently with a nail file and then soak the nails in polish remover, nobody has ever shaved off all the gel with a dremel and destroyed my nails in the process. To be fair, I saw this happening and got nervous and didn't say anything. I should have stepped in and stopped her and then spoken to the owner. I won't be going back.

    My mother's beautiful nails.

I went in today for a simple manicure and pedicure with regular polish because I'm growing my nails…read moreout. Unfortunately, the experience left me disappointed, and I don't think I'll be returning. The manicure was okay. It was pretty quick, but the polish was applied evenly and I was happy with it. Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad either. The pedicure, however, was a completely different experience. The technician was an older lady, and from the beginning I could tell she was having some difficulty with the polish. Her hands seemed noticeably shaky, and although she was trying, the application on several of my toes was not clean. **Two of my toenails in particular looked really bad after the first application. The polish was uneven and messy, the edges weren't clean, and it looked like the nails had not been properly finished. There was polish where it shouldn't have been, and the overall application looked sloppy rather than like a finished professional pedicure.** I was sitting there looking at my toes thinking, *There is no way I'm supposed to walk out of here with my toes looking like this.* I was also concerned because she didn't use toe separators. Since I specifically chose regular polish rather than gel, I knew the polish would need time to dry, and without separators I was worried that my toes would touch each other and mess up the polish. Thankfully, they didn't end up rubbing together. The technician did end up having to redo the problem areas on my toes. That helped, but the fact that they needed to be redone in the first place was frustrating, especially after already sitting through the service. I'll be posting pictures of **the first attempt and what I was apparently expected to leave the salon with**, because honestly, the pictures tell the story better than I can. If I hadn't said anything, I would have been walking out with two toes that looked noticeably unfinished and poorly painted. The massage itself was fine, and I don't want to say the entire pedicure was terrible because there were parts that were perfectly fine. But for a professional salon service, I expect the polish application to look clean and finished, especially when I'm paying full price. And then came the payment situation. While I was sitting in the chair waiting for my regular polish to dry, I was asked if I wanted to pay. I said sure. I was then told they only accept cash, Venmo, or Zelle. I chose Zelle because I have it and have used it to pay businesses before. However, when I entered the phone number they gave me, the recipient came up as **"Ricky" instead of the business name**. I specifically said, "It says Ricky, not T Nails." I was told, essentially, that yes, that was correct. That really threw me off. I've paid businesses through Zelle before, and the payment information has been connected to the business. Having the payment come up under what appeared to be a personal name made me uncomfortable. Then I was told the total was **$65 for the manicure and pedicure**. At that point, I was honestly pretty frustrated. I had already been there close to two hours, the pedicure had to be corrected because two of the toenails were poorly done initially, and I was still charged the full $65 without any sort of courtesy adjustment. I wasn't expecting the entire service to be free. But given that there was a noticeable problem with the pedicure and I had to have part of the service redone, I expected at least a small discount -- even $5 would have shown some acknowledgment of the inconvenience. I've been to other salons where, if there was even a slight problem with a service, they would remove the affected service from the bill or offer some kind of adjustment. So I was surprised that there was no attempt to do anything here. The salon itself was clean, but very plain, and there were only two people there during my visit. The actual service was okay overall, but it was not spectacular, and the problems with the pedicure combined with the payment situation really left a bad impression. **The biggest issue for me wasn't that the service wasn't perfect. It was that I was presented with a visibly poor first attempt on two of my toenails, had to have them redone, waited nearly two hours for the entire appointment, was charged the full $65, and was then asked to send the payment through Zelle to someone named "Ricky" rather than the business.** I'll post the pictures of my toes from the first attempt so people can see exactly what I mean. **Look at the photos and judge for yourself whether that is how a paying customer should be expected to leave a salon.** Just be forewarned.

Maybe she's born with it. Maybe it's Maybelline. Or maybe it's in part thanks to Angel!…read more It's been 2 years since my last review! People are genuinely surprised when I tell them how old I am (Actually, I rarely tell people how old I am. Keep 'em guessing!). I know what you're all thinking. Surely I'm related to Dorian Gray and there's a dusty painting of me hidden in a basement somewhere getting older by the minute. Nope! Angel has been my skincare guru ever since moving back to AZ. She is very professional and such a lovely person to talk to. I trust her with any skincare issues I might have. Since my last review she's expanded her practice to include some fellow aestheticians that offer a wide range of services from a deep cleansing facial, waxing, skin tag removal to IPL. She's always up to date with the latest in skincare issues and new products+ treatments coming out which makes it easy to get the best skincare available! My face always feels refreshed and has that youthful glow after an appointment with her. It's a great day when I get pampered by Angel! Her studio is in the back of the Studio de la Beaute salon in downtown Mesa with ample parking in the public lot. As an added bonus there are cool shops and restaurants within walking distance pre and post appointment to make your day a full relaxation experience!

4/30/2019 The owner has responded to the yelp post, posting inaccurate information to discredit…read moremyself. After posting on several group sites I found that this is a recurring issue. I was told that they were closed on Sunday, when I tried to call about the cuts. Now I am being told they were not, and "tried to call" but my phone company has no record of that. When I asked to be explained the paperwork and treatment I was signing, I was told by the owner to "just sign it" and that Sarah "would explain it later". She is claiming I lied about my UV exposure which affected my treatment, when in reality my job changed which had me outside more often which was updated with the most current aesthetician. I did purchase through groupon and set up all three appointments in March. The online system wouldn't allow me to reschedule as they had lost the employee, and when I called (from several different phones) I didn't hear back until it was too late to use all three groupons because I was aware that it would cause a breakout if done too close together. The owner decided to remedy by offering one dermaplaning. I spent $80 for 3 deep clean facials (which is $26 per, and I had $53 worth of facials left). The groupon for two dermaplanings with Sarah is $45 (I only had one (I had $23 worth, meaning that I paid an extra $30 NOT gifted an extra $30). I was told at my appointment in March to stop using retinol and St.Ives as it could have been making my skin red (which is a consistent problem), so I stopped both products in March and was only using African Black soap every 2-3 days, Rose Water Witch Hazel (alcohol free), and just plain soap the days in between. The owner KNOWS this but is trying to claim no blame to what happened to my face, so she is saying I am still using irritating products. I signed a waiver for a peel, and was told I was receiving a peel, and that it would burn but that was normal. Now the owner is saying that even though I signed a waiver, was told that I was receiving one, that I did not. This is concerning considering that I was not corrected until she responded to my review, and I have been under medical treatment where this information was pertinent. Sarah did offer me a fan, but complained that when another patient used it the fumes went into her face and made her sick, so I opted to not make her sick. The device I saw Sarah use was "surgical steel with detachable blades" or in other words, a razor. Some of the scratches were not visible on photos and I assumed that any amount of a cluster of several scratches would be a big deal to an owner, but apparently not. I have never had my face blown up, so I assumed I was having an allergic reaction, but was corrected by my PCP. She said it was not an allergic reaction but a full face injury and that the swelling was due to irritation. The owner told me to use benadryl and aquaphor, my medical provider said that she was glad I waited to see her before taking her advice as it was an injury. The OWNER said she had to wait to hear back from her EMPLOYEE before she could help me. As I am panicking the week before my wedding and the day before my pre-wedding photo shoot I am told that the owner of the store was waiting on her employee before she could offer any help. During the time it took I was able to make an appointment with my doctor and their in office aesthetician. The team informed me that they felt "so sorry that someone has done this to" me. That the "surgical steel tool" was used improperly, and in a way that was unsanitary (every cut a new blade should have been used). That after being butchered they should not have used a "lactic enzyme" as that is what most likely caused the swelling. The owner also cherry picks information. I was TOLD that I could resume my normal skin care routine, as dermaplaning had to down time (other than needing sunscreen). I did NOT resume, which was what I texted the owner, but for some reason she believes I said that I did resume, so either she is straight up lying or really didn't read. I was never given any paperwork to take home, with any after-care instructions, and remember Angel told me to sign the paperwork and that Sarah would explain it all to me (she did not). They also said "if they had known about my pictures {they} would've offered a different treatment plan", but when we started Sarah was asking me questions about the wedding, so it was told to her during that time. Once again the owner is lying to discredit me. Which blows my mind as I have text message documentation of her behaviors and medical documentation determining their fault. In the end, the aethetician undoubtedly made a mistake, as was agreed by a plethora of professionals (medical and skin care related). The owner is not only not offering me a refund of my services, or for the difference for services rendered, but is flat out lying about the facts to try to avoid blame.
