Slow to deliver but decent wings. Fair prices. One of the few local places that offers "jo jo" style potato wedges as well.

Everyone was so sweet and really made us feel like a part of the family. When we sat down the owner gave us complimentary blueberry-banana bread that she had baked this morning - it was delicious! Two of us have dietary restrictions that we are usually hesitant to ask about, but at that point Monique had spoiled us so much (9 options for toast!) and traded so many jokes that we felt totally comfortable asking for modifications. The food was amazing- I loved my blueberry banana bread pancakes, the potatoes were really delicious, everyone's food was cooked perfectly. The eggs benedict looked really good, and there were a lot of fun specials that I want to try next time. So attentive with coffee refills as well. 1000% recommend!

We loved all the photos on the wall showing how this restaurant has been part of the community for some years. Our food was overall good, but not amazing. I got an eggs benedict special and added spinach at the server's recommendation; I was surprised that it came on a bed of spinach, rather than cooked and on top of the English muffin with the other ingredients. Everything was cooked well, and I enjoyed my meal. My husband got an omelet and the home fries, which were fine. We also got some of the house-made banana bread with blueberries but were disappointed that it lacked structure and was rather soggy. We toasted it up at home in slices, and that was much better. My husband said the coffee was "fine--regular diner coffee." We were frankly shocked by the prices. We are used to California restaurant prices, which are quite high--but our breakfast here was even more expensive than that. Not sure what accounts for this, as there are other breakfast places in the area that aren't quite this dear.

"I fell asleep in Tuscany and dreamed The one thing missing…read morewas you" (Rod Stewart) The Mohegan Sun Casino has 43 dining options, so choosing somewhere for lunch isn't a simple task. The task becomes somewhat easier if you eliminate the food court and the restaurants that open at 4:00. So based upon those parameters, and our wish to go somewhere "nice", we walked into Todd English's Tuscany. It's smack in the middle of the massive Mohegan Sun property, pretty much in the center of a triangle connecting the Casino of the Sky, Sky Convention Center, and Sky Tower hotel. The entrances into the restaurant are pretty cool. They look like you are walking into a mountainside with stone cliffs soaring up into the sky. We had a choice between ordering of the menu or going with their $34.99 Tuscan Table buffet. After looking at the menu, we both agreed the buffet was the way to go. It's available Monday - Friday from 11:00am - 3:00pm, and offers "A variety of authentic Italian dishes, including antipasti, salads, fresh made in-house pasta, flatbreads, dessert fare, and choice of non-alcoholic beverage". It was a great choice. I started off with a cup of black bean soup and then hit the appetizer station where I was delighted to see a big cauldron of shrimp and mussels fra diavlo. That's a big favorite of mine, so I grabbed a plate, a slice of crostini, and a few big scoops of that spicy seafood. I loved it. After that, I tried some lobster mac and cheese and short rib pappardelle. Oh, by the way, all of their pastas are house made. I would have enjoyed the mac and cheese more if the customers in front of me hadn't harvested all of the lobster chunks for their personal consumption. And then of course, the big dessert station was next -cannoli, whoopie pies, cheesecake, tarts, pastries, tiramisu, and some sugar-free offerings. Good luck controlling yourself here. Kattryna was our server and she was efficient, professional, and a fun conversationalist. She told us the restaurant gets busy toward the end of the month when the points gamblers earn will run out, especially for brunches. So, if you want to check out their weekend brunch ($59.99) you best check on availability first.

I remember beautiful table dressings, candles...ambiance. The setting is still pretty great. Service was slow but they seemed understaffed. Isai was out waiter and he was really great and attentive. I had the Wagyu bolognese and it was dry and thick like wallpaper paste. Honestly, the flavor wasn't anything to speak about either. At least great flavor with bad consistency would have helped. My wife and the chicken parm. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Nice and juicy but it was still "meh". Big portion and we ended up leaving the other half behind because, well, it just wasn't worth it to bring home. ATTENTION, ATTENTION...NOW HEAR THIS! If you're offering a craft Old Fashioned get some cubed ! A $20 Old Fashioned with soda fountain ice is UNSATISFACTORY! No excuse. That tarnished the night before it even got started. I've read the buffet is good...maybe it's just transitioned into a bit lower quality when that happened. Unsure but, super disappointing. I would really look for a better spot to spend your money. It is an unassuming building on the side of the road, in the middle of a neighborhood. It is about 10 minutes south of Mohegan Sun. Donatello's With A Twist definitely offers a twist! They serve a wide variety of options: American breakfast, sandwiches & burgers, Puerto Rican dishes & Italian fare. Hubby enjoyed playing the free Pac-Man video game as we waited for our food. There are a couple of seats inside & a little garden outside. Most people took their food to go. There are 7 - YAAASSSSS SEVEN! - mofongo options on the menu. Ummm... yes, please! For the uninitiated, mofongo is a dish from Puerto Rico featuring plantains as its main ingredient. They are picked green, cut into pieces & typically fried, then pounded in a wooden pilón (mortar and pestle) with a variety of spices, broth & some type of cooking oil . If you are a fan of Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, you know that he is a mofongo freak. I've had mofongo before & definitely enjoy it, hubby was new to the experience. We selected the Shrimp Creole Mofongo & it was spectacular. We heard the pounding of the plantains in the back as we waited for our food so I knew it was being made special for us. The mound of mofongo was flavorful, the shrimp were large & perfectly cooked in a spicy red sauce with a little salad on the side to cool things off. We also ordered the Chicharron De Pollo with Tostones. I thought it was going to be a harder fry on the chicken but the dark meat was yummi. The tostones were perfectly fried & the highlight of this dish. Hubby can't pass up a steak sandwich so he ordered a large Boricua Steak Bomb. HOLY COW! The sandwich was ginormous!!! A ton of steak with a good amount of melty cheese topped with a spicy sauce. Hubby loved it! I saw a guy order a slab of meat & I went up afterwards to inquire what it was. A perfectly fried chicharrón - fried pork belly. It was a good combination of meat, fat & crunchy bits. As a German, I was introduced to grilled schweinebauch as a kid. It is not everyone's cup of tea because of the fat content & idea of eating pig's stomach but I love it. I should have bought another one to take with me for later! Donatello's makes a number of fresh juices & we ordered the passionfruit which was a refreshingly sweet & sour combo. They also sell desserts but we were so full that I didn't even look to see what was offered. If you are in the area, I would recommend stopping by Donatello's With A Twist to try some of their special dishes. It is a celebration of flavor & culture!
