Enjoyed a very nice evening here with great food and friendly service. The restaurant itself is a bit of a throwback. I started with a delicious old fashioned and they brought out some tasty bread. I'd see in some other Yelp reviews about the seafood bruschetta so we got that and I really liked it. For my main, I had stuffed shrimp and that was good too. The steak fries that came on the side were excellent. The restaurant was very lively and even though it's attached to a hotel it doesn't feel like a hotel restaurant. There are a lot of steps to the main entrance but I believe there is an accessible entrance using an elevator from the lower level. My wife, daughter and I ate here a few days ago. I dont like that the menu is not self explanatory. Had to ask alot of questions I felt could easily be explained on the menu. We all ordered the Delmonico medium rare. When they came, it was just a flat top steak that, I could tell had been frozen and thawed out. It tasted good, was more medium than medium rare. Prime 82 was very accommodating for our group of 13. The service was very on point with a few servers assisting us. The food was served in a timely manner and was very good. Older restaurant but they are very attentive and the portions are good and high quality food. We ordered salads to share, steaks were cooked just right, and we sampled desserts to share for the table. My wife and I have been to Prime 82 twice, and each time our whole experience has been excellent. The lighting is perfect, and the level of the music is low - so we can understand one another when we talk! The food choices are great, and we have appreciated the wines recommended for the various entrees. Our food has always been perfectly cooked, and we have been fully satisfied by its quailtiy and taste. Our second time at Prime 82 our waitress was Mallory. We cannot praise her enough. She has been with Prime 82 for several years, and knows the place inside and out. She was pleasant, and always obliged us with our requests. We believe that the service in a restaurant is half the experience. Mallory made our entire time a delight. Six of us sought a better than average restaurant in southeast Connecticut near Lisbon, Baltic, and Hanover. Prime82 stood out as the only Google search result with table clothes. We decided to give it a go, and generally were pleased. Some reviews say the place has an 80's vibe. Those were probably written by diners too young to remember the 70's. Yes, aesthetically the place is a "throwback," but nostalgia has a place in this world. We had an appetizer that promoted itself as "fondue." It was really very good. Entirely worthwhile, but no, it's NOT fondue--not even close. The other appetizers we tried were also tasty and reasonably priced to boot. I had a Delmonico steak, rare. I was raised on Texas cooking and know prime beef when I have it. The steak was properly cooked and adequate tasting, but hardly the best Delmonico I've ever had. I'm not a USDA inspector, so it's just my opinion but the steak seemed to me to be a very good choice, but not really prime. Frankly, I'd prefer a smaller cut of higher quality beef. The secret to a really good steak, is to buy a really good steak. Four ounces of real prime beef, makes a better meal than 10 ounces of even the best choice. My wife had a burger that she described as terrible. That seems to validate the opinion of some reviewers of this restaurant. It's quite possible that one's impression is highly influenced by what was ordered. This is not a place to count on a nice dessert. The choices are VERY limited. If you happen to like cheesecake, the bite of the Boston cheesecake I tried was very good. Bottom line, the total bill, appetizers, main courses, wine, and coffee was quite reasonable. Certainly, the food, service, and price tag of Prime82 is competitive with similar better than average eateries in Eastern Connecticut. We had a good time. Sadly, I have to give a 2-star food review. Food in the pics came Stone Cold Steve Austin angry and chilly. Staff is top notch. But you can tell food was microwaved then sat so long it cooled. Sat at the bar, our bartender Matt was exceptional!! He was very sweet and made a perfect expresso martini!! Found my new lunch spot.

Our waitress was absolutely horrible. We had to flag her down numerous times. We were ignored and had to ask other servers to get her twice. Everyone around us has bread and we still have none. I had the stuffed shrimp and it was fine. My friend had the shrimp scampi and it was gelatinous. She told the waitress and she gave her attitude and tried to argue that its because there may be breading on the shrimp. There was no breading. We then have to ask for a check which ahe slmed down on the table and walked away. Honestly the people around us seem that they are getting good service and enjoying there food. I think she looked at us and judged us because I came from school and had a tshirt and jeans on. Well her loss we usually tip 30-50%. Dont judge a book by its cover. read more

Prime rib (medium rare as shown in pic it isn't) was so thin and had no bone on it, also none of the fat was rendered so I was eating chewy fat the whole time. Lobster for the seafood brucietta was fishy tasting and chewy, shrimp wasn't cleaned right and had sand, and the cod was undercooked. (Already threw up on my way home). We were staying at the Marriott and the check in host recommended this place. I looked on Google and the prices seemed reasonable for meals we get back home. We were seated right away. Restaurant was loud with a business group chatting enthusiastically. Our waitress was very friendly and patient while I asked her to repeat things. I noticed the prices were higher on the menu than the Google site to their restaurant. She said they were aware. One water had dirt floating on top. They took it and got another and brought bread. My Caesar salad was heavy on lemon flavor and had a lot of dressing. Not the best. No dark romaine leaves either. Sad All of our meals came very hot. We were all pleased with the amount and taste. They're inconsistent in their quality of food or service. However, my recent experiences inform my belief this restaurant is trending in the right direction at the moment. I've heard a lot about this restaurant but had never been here to eat before. We went with my husband's cousins so there was 8 of us in our group. They bring you warm rolls with butter or oil which is nice. I will say that it has been newly renovated in the last year & they did do a nice job with that. The food was ok. There were 3 of us that ordered the chicken francais which was ok. I've ordered this at several restaurants so I consider myself a kind of connoisseur of this dish. The chicken was delicious but there was not much of the lemon/white wine flavor that you would usually associate with this dish. I had it over linguini because they don't have angel hair. The other 2 diners had it with risotto. My biggest complaint was that they didn't show us a dessert menu just told us what they had which was very limited. They offered tiramisu, chocolate cake, cheesecake & 1 other option which I can't recall. The tiramisu looked a little sloppy like they had just thrown it on a plate & the cheesecake was very plain & bland. Ironically after our desserts had already been delivered another waiter brought out 2 more identical desserts but they were garnished with blueberries & looked much nicer. The desserts were $12 each which of course we didn't know because we never saw a dessert menu! Do not get dessert here! They are significantly overpriced for even a restaurant dessert. The going rate is usually $7.95-$8.95! $12 is incredibly overpriced for a dessert that is most certainly not made on the property by a chef! Very disappointed by that. Price were a little on the high side for meals as well. When the waiter brought our check there was also wine added to our tab that we had not had & he wanted to immediately check if it belonged in someone else's tab which also didn't go over well with others in our party. I'm glad that I tried this restaurant but would not be in a hurry to return again as there are several other restaurants in the area that are better. Excellent food and service. Good atmosphere, nice music background, great looking bar but the star here is the food. I had a great caprese salad, shared fresh calamari, had a beautiful piece of cod ( very fresh and very welcomed with a nice flavor) and enjoyed homemade mashed potatoes ( with a nice hint of garlic). To finish, a very well done Tiramisu. Also, waiter couldn't be any nicer. I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys fresh and well cooked food. I shall return. read more

This is probably my favorite steakhouse in town. If you're going to splurge, come here. Seriously folks, I got the Delmonico steak medium. With risotto and haricot vers. Also stuffed mushrooms. The mushrooms could've used more stuffing. They were definitely hand made not frozen but a little too strong of a wine flavor to them. But they were tasty. Steak was a great well marbled cut. Char grilled if you like that. I'm not a huge fan of char grilling but it was totally fine. Risotto didn't leave an impression either way. Neither the haricot vers. Ambiance is okay. It's in a hotel.
