I always come to this place when I visit Mohegan Sun, which is three to four times a year and I usually enjoy the experience but this time was different. I ordered a two pound lobster that was so old the meat was not moist and it fell apart when you bit into it. $90 is a lot of money to pay for a lobster whose shell was so touch I couldn't even crack even with the nutcracker they gave me so I was forced to try to get the meat out of the shell with the small fork. It was a hot mess. The sauce was very watery too. I never thought I would ever say this but I'm never going back to Summer Shack again. I just can't chance it.
Came here before a game at the arena and was seated right away. The staff was nice and service was quick. I got the fish sandwich and nothing was wrong with it. It was just pretty basic no frills. Prices were not too bad. I'd go again, but it's definitely not giving anything special but also not bad. The Syde of mac & cheese was pretty basic and taste like it came out of a box. I would not order that again.
This place is good to eat! Great service and everything BUT the poke bowl gotta go. Sorry but I'm from Hawaii and the poke bowls are definitely not like that. Hard rice Mmm... The other food on the menu 10/10 it's just the poke bowl it's self. I don't recommend getting it. Omg but the MISO SOUP love it!!
While visiting the Mohegan Sun Casino on a very busy weekend this restaurant was one of the few who were accepting walk ins. It's a very casual place but you could smell the seafood from the entrance. We were seated immediately. It took a little bit for our waiter to come over but he was apologetic when he did come. We ordered and our food came out pretty quickly. My cod was good but quite greasy. I couldn't finish it because it was just too much. The crab cakes were okay but my friend and I had better.
Had friends visiting from the west coast so my husband and I met up with them at Mohegan Sun on a Wednesday evening. While having drinks, the bartender recommended Summer Shack since it was our first time here and it's a family friendly restaurant. The restaurant offers a variety of fresh seafood dishes, steaks, and burgers. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. Food and service were good. My husband and I shared the wedge salad. My friends also ordered oysters and octopus. I had the mussels, my husband and friend had the tenderloin steak tips and my other friend had the fish and chips. For dessert, we had the creme brûlée. The food portions were great. We were pretty much the only ones left at the restaurant. It was the perfect place to have dinner with family and friends visiting. I would definitely come back and recommend this place.
We got here late and the place had a few patrons at the bar. The dinning room was closed so we sat in the lounge. I'd been here before and had a pretty good experience. This time it was much better. The server was stellar and attentive. Never rushed us and made sure we had everything we needed. The food. Oysters - 5 out of 5 (sweet and local) Steamed peel and eat shrimp - 4.5 out of 5 (perfectly cooked) Clam chowder - 3.5 out of 5 (decent not the best) Griddled corn bread and molasses butter - 5 out 5 Grilled garlic shrimp - 5 out of 5 This experience was by far amazing! We will be back.
Summer shack always our first stop when we visit Mohegan Sun. The oysters are always spectacular and the sushi is never a disappointment.
Never again. Dry shrimp scampi, watery lobster bisque with rubber meat. Same with the clam chowder. I WILL say that the hostess was the absolute sweetest. 1 star for food but the staff was wonderful. The restaurant looked clean as well.
Good vibes and great service! My group of 4 was SO relieved to be sat for dinner shortly after 6pm with no wait. We had visited a handful of different restaurants and were told the wait would be at least 3 hours. Good drinks. My tito's bloody mary was delicious and very classic but no pickle. The miso soup brought me back to life for only $6. We liked our calamari but there wasn't very much of it. The menu is very expensive for what it is but that's typical at the casino. I got the lobster potstickers but was quite disappointed by them- they tasted like they weren't steamed for long enough and definitely came from a frozen bag. The filling left a lot to be desired, and certainly didn't taste like lobster.
I had an early dinner here with my husband and in-laws. It was pretty busy, but we were seated and had our orders taken quickly. I had the Fish Tacos with Fries, and sipped on a Twisted Mermaid. My drink was good - just the right amount of coconut rum. The tacos were big so I saved one for leftovers. They were satisfying, but I think a better sauce was needed to add some more tanginess and spice. I also prefer smaller corn tortillas instead of flour. My husband had the Lobster Roll and thought it was excellent - he noted it was very buttery. My family and I would definitely dine here again.
Sat at the bar. Always great service Cute almost full wrap around bar. Ordered the best oysters ever. Fresh and meaty. Along with clam fritters which are hard to get anywhere let alone a good one. These were almost perfect. Lights were nice and dim so it gave you a relaxed feel with the overall ambiance of a restaurant not a total bar scene. Definitely will be back
First time here the highlight was definitely the fried calamari with peppers (not pictured). It was gone really fast. We went on a Saturday afternoon and the place was not busy. Everything was good and service was great. Everything was good but in our opinion nothing worth overly hyping. Kinda disappointment with the shrimp scampi, came with 6 small and overcooked shrimps. The place was clean, and it was decent for everything we got. Highly recommend the calamari with peppers!
The ambiance is dive bar in Mexico or California on the water. By no means high end like they may have hoped to achieve based on the menu prices. It's actually one of the more expensive restaurants on the Mohegan Sun property. The others are high value, this place takes the cash but the portions oof. I'm sure they will blame tariffs, Iran, Ukraine, Palestine or some political issue for it but the fact is the markup is extreme especially even more so for a dive theme restaurant. Example lobster at fish market is $6-10 per lb in the region, in the summer the price is lower. Yet lobster here starts at nearly $80 and up. That's a lot higher than the standard markup. Got the Fisherman's platter portion size not impressed for the price. Taste completely unseasoned, already a horrible start. The shrimp were way overcooked. The Fish bland, and tough, overcooked as well. The scallops good natural flavor, unseasoned and also overcooked. Truly sad cause if prepared right while a bit overpriced probably the closest thing to a fair price it would have been a home run. Can confirm seasoning does actually improve taste if only the cook/chef knew that. Food is still overcooked but salt and pepper does help it go down. The waitress was great that is a plus and the beer was solid. Overall the casino has better options, looked like a cool place had a line waiting for open but disappointing the food was overcooked and bland. Always willing to give another chance but first impression wasn't good at all. Staff is amazing so that's a plus.

I haven't ate here for years. Service was 5/5 this time around and they had bogo oysters for their special. Ordered oysters, calamari, and snow crab with cherry sauce. The oysters were good, the calamari wasn't crispy enough and felt soggy, and the cherry sauce on crab legs were good. I wish the corn was sweet but that's alright. The sauce was so good I forgot how much I enjoyed it. read more

I looked at the reviews for this place , did not seem the best to grab some food and drinks . Since my friends were already sitting at the bar we gave it a try . Honestly Great place to have a drink and some food at the bar at Mohegan Casino in Connecticut. Great great service and definitely glad we stopped here .Chris the Bartender was great . The drinks he made were delicious, and the food we ordered was not bad at all !!!!! read more

I enjoy the oysters here tremendously as there is always a good selection that lets me compare their unique flavors plus they are served icy cold and well shucked without shell fragments or breakage. Delish! Staff is always friendly and the casual dining experience is great for a casino. read more

If you order fried chicken be prepared to wait for it. They tell you right up front about it. My husband enjoyed it. I ordered the scallops. I felt they were tiny and briny. Not the best. One and done for me. I did order clam chowder, which was decent. read more

Solid meal at Summer Shack after a show at the Mohegan Sun arena. I didn't want to set my expectations too high since you know casinos tend to be touristy, but our meal here turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The only downside is that food is a bit pricey (as expected). We split a large order of the fried whole belly clams and had a half dozen of quahog and a half dozen of littleneck clams. The whole bellies were super meaty and juicy with a light coating of breading. We probably didn't also need the fries, but I wanted the coleslaw. Each clam was beautifully shucked and brimming with briney clam juice which provided some much needed balance to the table. Clams were $3 each! It was a great way to wait out the post-show parking garage traffic in the evening. read more
Busy on a Saturday night, but we decided to sit at the bar as we would have had to have waited a little bit longer for a booth. We arrived at just the right time because as we left it was getting very busy. Sat at the bar and service was fast - drinks out immediately, ordered soup and dinners that came out just as quick. The clam chowder was tasty. Fish tacos were great. Swordfish that my partner had was very good too. I would come back again. read more

My mom said that it was just ok and a decent meal, be being a college student and eating whatever I can get free totally means that this meal was as decent as I can get or have in awhile. However we need to talk about a few things your menu needs updating why do I feel like I get handed a menu for just checking the place out or a menu that feels like I am gonna eat a truck stop or something. Good menus bring people in and menus turn people away just saying, personally this was just alright and the waiter was a true fun guy. My fish and chips had the whole damn neighbor of fish in it jeez guys you can give me a small piece I don't need a steak sized fish. read more
I was very impressed how good and fast the serve was. We stopped here before going to the concert and only had a 30-45 minutes to eat and they got the food out so fast and all so fresh and no complaints. The whole belly clams were on the sweeter side and so yummy. The batter for both were very light and not greasy tasting. Our server was right on point. Enjoyed our scorpion bowl as it was very strong. You won't be disappointed as service and atmosphere is right on. Will definitely be returning. read more
Father's Day celebration w family. We had shrimp peel and 1 lb of steamers to start off. Both were good in drawn butter. Lobster roll in butter. Good and plenty of fresh lobster. Broiled scallops, slaw and fries. Scallops should have been whole pieces, but lots of fragments, not worth it. Lobster boil was fresh, chicken lobster size, couple pieces of chorizo sausage, corn, several potatoes, maybe 8 steamers and 8 mussels. Fresh lobster and good meal for two. Service good, Place busy and we enjoyed. If not for rain, we might have driven to Mystic or Noank for seafood, but this was fine. read more
Let's talk about this little gem...... During your first day of travel your tired your hungry and just wanted something to eat. Even though this location was busy we were sat down quickly. I did change seating one time due to being directly behind the kitchen. Next table was further down but definitely better than the first. We were starving so we ordered the peel and eat shrimp a dozen of oysters. The ginger wings with a basket of fries and a clam chowder. Everything was so freaking good. The sauce for the peel and eat shrimp was so tasty i really enjoyed it. Clam chowder was so flavorful with huge pieces of clam and potatoes. read more

I've heard and seen Summer Shack for over a decade but this was my first time trying it. On a Friday night, we got seated really quickly. The place was rather dead. Our waitress came over immediately and she was very sweet and attentive. The servers were also very quick and responsive when we asked for ketchup and new utensils when we dropped them accidentally. The food came out quick. The whole belly clams weren't that tasty. The fish and chips and burger were mediocre. The fries and sweet potato waffle fries were great though! The atmosphere was fun and chill. read more
Food is average and very expensive. A Caesar salad with shrimp was $27 . The bowl of clam chowder $16. My shrimp flatbread was $20. My husband's fried shrimp and fries were $28. Just a heads up that the prices are really high. It's a cute restaurant with the "food is love" sign. The service was fine. read more
