The chicken was piping hot and very, very moist. Nice job! Batter fell right off the chicken wish that didn't happen. Fries should have been crispier (love crinkle cut fries!!) and portion was on the small side. Chicken was 3 strips - adequate if you're not super hungry. A very solid chicken sandwich sand giant tenders. Heat has no flavor, but they know how to fry chicken. I've eaten at this place twice. Once as a DoorDash order and the other as a sit in. With the DoorDash order, I got tenders and bites with Mac and cheese and fries. The tenders were huge, a three piece would be a meal for the biggest of appetites. The Mac and cheese was not so great, cheese sauce flavor was weak but the pasta was cooked well. The chicken bites were a little tough, and the fried items all got steamed so they were not as crispy. To give them a fair try, I went to their location and ordered to dine in. Cashier was incredibly friendly and helpful. I got their signature sando along with fries and a cookie. Food came out quick and I dug in. One thing I can say for certain is that they know how to cook chicken. For the larger pieces, they always came out juicy and tender. The Sando was no exception, and it was a very good piece of chicken. The bread was toasted and buttered, which is a nice touch. The vinegar slaw was light and refreshing vs the heavy fried batter and buttered bread, and the pickles gave the salty crisp that the sandwich needed So long as you got a bite of everything, it was delicious. For the bites that you miss a pickle or don't have sauce, you definitely notice it missing. It's finely balanced on the ratios, but relies on them to give the perfect bite. That being typed, it is a delicious bite when you get it. So although it's not perfect for each bite, it's perfect enough to enjoy it when you do. The fries are better fresh out the frier, but are kinda generic. The "shake" seasoning gives them some flavor but the fries are too thin to give you the fluffy potato portion but are also oddly cut to prevent them from being too crispy. You need their "comeback" sauce to eat them, and I'd imagine most throw them away. My only other gripe is their heat. I like hot foods, but I like my heat to bring flavor with it. The heat here is just heat, combined with a paprika hit. I like a little sweet and earthy with my heat, but the only difference between medium and mild is the amount of cayenne you get. But these are all nitpicks. As a chicken sandwich place, it does a good job of balancing flavors and making the chicken the star of the show. Their sides are an afterthought, but the star of the show is very much the star. I give them a five with a caveat that you go only if you want fried chicken. Arrived around 2pm for a late lunch. No one was there. Placed our order and watched it sit under a heat lamp for 4-5 minutes while the counter girl waited on another customer. When she brought it over the "mild" spice was very hot and too spicy and the fries were lukewarm. Could be too hot because the sauce was also hot which we didn't know. Have to ask for straws and ketchup which I hate, $35 for a chicken sandwich meal and tenders meal. Meh. There are better options. read more

The Bird Code Location in Vernon just opened 2 weeks ago. I ordered the medium heat chicken and it was too much for me to handle. I asked the manager if I could switch it for the country heat and he was so nice to let me do that. It's nice that the manager cares and did that cause I'd he didn't I wouldn't return. I would have tossed it as it was too hot of dry rub and didn't care for it. So when you order make sure you go w the heat you think you can handle. I would stick to the country heat. The chicken is very good and not greasy at all. I got the fries w my order along w their specialty sauce which was all very good and it comes w a drink of your choice. I would definitely go back and try the macaroni and cheese next time. I like it better than the Raising Cane. It's a cute place and very warm. read more

First time trying the hot chicken place just opened one in Vernon CT next to home sense. Came with family of 4. We tried The Sando, Classic Naughty neighbor Tenders. Went for the hot spicy level. I was warned by the staff to watch spice level, as I asked for a code breaker which is a dry rub it contained higher scoville score Just to try the spice level, I ordered the tenders with the code breaker dry rub. I was really surprised with the hotness of the fried chicken, it was a complete sinus cleanse, enjoyed it. I would recommend to get a shake with your food if you are going for the spicier options. The place is a sit down, where you order your food at a counter and come sit down. Walls pained with chicken on fire and shows the vibe. Really good tasting hot chicken, I would say it is better than Raising canes it is less salty and less oily, larger size portion in comparison. If you can take the heat definitely go for the spice level mild and above. Little pricy though for the experience, prices could be slightly lower. Will return soon with friends. read more

Got two sandwiches and a milkshake for take out. They ran out of oreo so we opted for the vanilla milkshake and it was pretty lackluster and kinda lumpy. The fry on the chicken sandwiches were pretty good but got to be a bit much as some bites were only crispy bits of grease. The chicken tasted like it was recently thawed so I didn't experience the juicy meaty bite I was hoping for. I think my side of mac and cheese was the highlight of this experience. Coworkers in the City love their location in Fairfield county, so I've been trying it up here with terrible results.The chicken is bland, with no difference between mild and medium spice... it all just tastes bad. It's essentially grease being sold for double of what you can get somewhere else. I ordered delivery with a friend and sides were missing, the cookies were stale, and when I called, the manager told me to "deal with it." When I went in on a separate occasion, I can only assume it was the same short, heavy-set guy with AirPods in. He was rude and dismissive to employees and customers the entire time. Utterly useless General Manager. Clearly, they can't afford a real GM if they're paying this guy anything at all. I really hope their corporate team handles this incompetent dunce accordingly. 2-3 bad experiences over multiple months now... but the most recent visit was enough to warrant a cumulative review. Let's be honest here: Chick-fil-A isn't messing this up, and Cane's isn't messing this up. It's unfortunate, really. The store was dead-empty when we last went in at dinner. My wife got some takeout here. All I can say is bleah. Dried out, lightly breaded rubbery chicken that had seasoning SPRINKLED on it after it came out of the frier. The mildest version sprinkled-on seasoning was hot but not flavorful, just salty. How sad that these cheap franchise places come in and don't even seem to try. Ordered Code Bites and a side of vinegar slaw. I was given like 20 cents worth of dry unflavored shredded cabbage for $4. Not worth it! The Code Bites were tender but the amount I was given was not worth $9. I got 3 pickles and just enough Comback sauce for about half the order of bites. Great place! Great chicken! I'm giving 4 stars for the service. I went around 4:50pm for my order to pick up, I arrived early at 4:45 and my order was completed and my food was barely Warm. Now I know this place just opened up and I have been to the West Hartford location before so I'm going to not be so critical about this and hopefully they get everything squared away. Where I have my biggest problem is there was 2 people at the counter, 1 taking orders and 1 behind the counter basically walking around in circles. There was a clear line of 3-4 people waiting for their pick up orders as he continued to just picking up and placing down a paper bag while walking in a circle. Finally he asked us if we needed anything and we all got our orders. Also, Not to mention I got the wrong order, I'm not gonna get made about it because it was what I ordered but with extra tenders, but what's funny is that the box with the tenders clearly had a different name on it than the name on the bag! Again mistakes happen but again training matters. Again hopefully their employees get better so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt because the West Hartford location is great, but not a good start for a new location in my opinion. read more

They have their house sauce, which was way too sweet for my taste. They don't have mayonnaise, which is a common condiment for s chicken sandwich. They serve fries, but do not have salt packets. My one complaint is that the chicken tastes a little bland if you're not a sauce lover you might not like it.
