Disappointed by the Krispy Kreme Too Good To Go experience. I used the Too Good To Go app to grab a surprise dozen from Krispy Kreme, hoping to try a fun mix of donuts. When I arrived, the guy at the register didn't say a single word to us--his coworker was the one who acknowledged us and brought up an assorted box of donuts (which looked great). But then the guy at the register, without saying anything, took the assorted donuts out of the box and put them on the counter, then turned around and handed me a plain dozen glazed. Not only was it super awkward, but it felt kind of shady. If you're going to input "assorted dozen" into the system, bring out the assorted box, then hand me glazed while the better donuts are sitting right there... I'm sorry, but that's not okay. I didn't come in expecting to pick and choose, but don't bait me with the box I thought I was getting just to hand me something totally different. Either communicate clearly or don't leave the better box in my line of sight like that. I'd honestly like a refund or at least an explanation. This felt misleading and uncomfortable. Update: We ended up going to the other Krispy Kreme location that manages this store, and the manager there was amazing. He confirmed we should've received an assorted dozen (not plain glazed), and said the employee here shouldn't have rung anything up at all. He personally gave us the correct box and apologized for the experience--even though it wasn't his fault. Huge shoutout to that manager for stepping up. This store, on the other hand, still hasn't made things right or even acknowledged the issue. read more

I hadn't been to a Krispy Kreme in some time and decided to visit this one after getting an offer thru the app and it was one of those experiences where nothing makes sense and then it all makes sense haha. What do I mean by that? Well I get here not even 15 minutes after they open and there's no light on. Red flag. Get an order of original glaze and an original glaze latte. When I get the box - no warmth that you can feel thru it. Red flag. I don't like to eat in the car so I drive home and sure enough donuts are not only cold to the touch but also rock hard. You can tell these were also around chocolate donuts because they have pieces of chocolate on them that have hardened and almost feel like a crouton. The coffee was also just okay. Definitely not worth the $5. After getting home, I jumped on here because I was curious (but had a feeling) about what kind of rating this place had and then I started reading some of the reviews and it all makes sense now. I'm gathering they're like a Walmart - they get shipments from other locations but they don't actually make anything in house. So I guess this location is like the "outlet" Krispy Kreme haha. We just put a bunch of machines in here to make it look like a bakery and give it a nice face lift, but the product definitely doesn't match the facade. The fact that this is allowed to happen really shows the dangers of franchising. People don't always care about the product and/or the brand as much the original owners do and sometimes this is complicated by aggressive expansion, because there's so many locations it becomes hard to identify who is and isn't living up to brand standards. Nonetheless, some real food for thought for the owner of this place: this is the closest location to downtown where many tourists are staying. Since there are no longer any Krispy Kreme store's in Indy, I always hit up this one when I'm in San Antonio since it's in a nearby shopping area. I was pleasantly surprised that when we ordered the donuts, they were fresh and hot because they never seem to have the "hot" sign lit up whenever I have driven by at different times of the day. Sun 17 Jun was my first time to this location... we were heading to the parental units homestead for Father's Day so this was the closest location in the general direction we were headed. The location is a little difficult to find on Yelp as Yelp doesn't want to pull up this location, even tho I was in the general area looking for it. I almost thought I was going to have to make a page for it, but I finally found it after several different tries, not sure what is up with that... but the whole reason why I was here... I had to get a Big Red Doughnut! Last month was the Barbacoa & Big Red Festival. Krispy Kreme came up with Big Red Doughnuts that were exclusive to the festival itself, couldn't get them in the store. I couldn't get to the festival but I thought long and hard about going just to get this doughnut, I know crazy, right? Well somewhere this past week, I read that KK was going to sell the Big Red Doughnut on Sundays only, starting on Father's Day, in the South Texas locations only, for only a few short weeks. Ummm, so it was my mission on Sunday morning to go get me a Big Red Doughnut. We stopped in about 10:30am... and we were told that there was less than a dozen left for purchase. My partner in crime decided to get a coffee by the time we pulled up to the drive-thru window. He said he wanted a small. Our server handed us a medium saying it was cheaper that way using "combo". Ok, thank you for looking out for us. I'll give the service 5 stars. Big Red Doughnut is ok. It's not as good as I had hoped but it wasn't awful either. It's made with the Big Red syrup, not the soda exactly. The red frosting had a slight Big Red Taste. The pink cream filling had a slight Big Red flavor. Then combined with the doughnut, it was just too sweet, and the Big Red flavor really just got lost in the doughnut, so my guess is that both the cream and frosting need more syrup flavoring to give it that Big Red punch. I was happy enough with my experience... I got my Big Red Doughnut! I do have one more thing to say to Krispy Kreme... please bring back Talk Like A Pirate Day... I went into this place for some donut holes, and I had always wondered, why their red light is never on...well I found out today. I went I. At 4:24pm and purchased a custard filled Bismarck and 10 count donut holes, and I took a placed a hole donut hole in my mouth and was hit with the hardest, driest donut hole ever. I spot it out and asked the person at the counter when they made them because they were dry and I can't eat them. She told me they were brought in this morning, I was like what!?!? I'm in San Antonio for the evening and stopped to pick up donuts in hopes to surprise my kids with tomorrow morning. We showed up 45 minutes before they closed only to have a sign on the door tell me only the drive thru is open. We went through the drive thru and were then told they're closed. It would've been really nice to know this prior to wasting my time and gas as well as driving out of the way only for them to not be open. I've been getting doughnuts at the Brooks City Base location in San Antonio for 7 years. As the years have gone by, the doughnuts have gotten smaller, have less filling, and now something worse. I bought 3 doughnuts from there about 2 weeks ago. Mine was not fresh, hard and dry around the edges. My daughter's had funny tasting icing, and my son's doughnut was not cooked all the way through. I called them when I got home and told the lady about the doughnuts. She said that she would replace all 3 doughnuts. My name would be written in the "hospitality book" under my name, saying that I would get 3 doughnuts replaced. I went to Krispy Kreme today to get my 3 doughnuts. One of the workers asked if she could help me and I told her that I was in the "hospitality book", gave her my name and the name of the lady who I had spoken to on the phone. She stared back at me in silence for a few seconds and then asked me to repeat what I had said. I repeated it. Then she went and got another lady who talked to me in a loud, almost yelling voice. "How can I help you?!" I repeated my story for a 3rd time, and included my name. She yelled back at me, "What is your name?" So I repeated my name for the FOURTH time. She acted like she didn't know what to say. I asked, "Is there a hospitality book? And you don't need to yell at me, as I didn't do anything wrong." She said that there was no "hospitality book" and called it something else. She also said that she just talks loud like that. She then asked me what I needed. I said, "Shouldn't that information be in the hospitality book next to my name?" Then she went and looked for the "book" and said, "Oh, yes. All it says here is that you get 3 assorted doughnuts." I said, "Okay, then." I also told her that I could tell she was annoyed with me, but I didn't understand why. I did get my doughnuts. Everyone knows that if the red light is on and you walk in, you get a free HOT donut. Not many people know there is a downloadable app in which you can pay half for a dozen glazed donuts. The app has a barcode to also provide you with emails of great savings and birthday surprises. This place is great for studying, has an eclectic assortment of donuts to share with friends, family or your partner if you visit and is close to the city base cinema in case you want to go before or after. I went the other night and pay 4 dollars for a full dozen of donuts. This review shall be short and sweet, just like the donuts they dispense. So I am just coming to the end of a perfect date night with my woman and we decide to go and get something sweet. And it just so happened to be that we had seen the Krispy Kreme right before our eyes, and we've been here before so we were hyped. I always look forward to grabbing a fresh hot donut right off the rack which is always melt away once it hits your tongue. BUT this was not the same thing here, because I came inside and was not greeted and was asked "what do you want?" So I proceeded to request a dozen donuts glazed, and I can clearly see the new donuts made and the worker got me the donuts that were on the side which were cold and probably have been sitting there for a long time. Also, the sign was on for the free donut which we didn't receive but two other families walked in and got a free donut with no purchase. This kind of got me frustrated, we bought donuts and was just two of us and they didn't offer us fresh donuts, I don't care we didn't get one free but we weren't greeted our even granted access to fresh donuts on the dozen we purchased. Easy location to get to off the interstate. The location is clean. The food was fresh and the staff were friendly and helpful. They had an excellent selection of donuts snd kolaches. I ordered the pizza kolache and it was amazing. Full of cheese and pizza flavor. Similar to a soft hot pocket but 1000% better. Of course there donuts are delightful with sweet and airy consistency. Drive thru available though I went in to take my time to order donuts as it was St Patrick's Day and the visual was different when ordering green donuts for my grand kiddos. By far the worst customer service experience. I had a question so I pulled up to the drive thru window the shift leader stared at me didn't bother to see my issue. I called she answered I asked if she could help me and she stated if I wasn't at the intercom no one would help me. I went back around she stated she couldn't understand my question because of the static then proceeded to leave out the back door. I saw her leave someone else on the intercom asked me to pull forward then handed me the general managers business card and said they can't check old receipts only she can. I asked for the employees name he stated she advised him he couldn't give it but she was a shift leader like him.
