One moment that really stayed with me happened when my mom was in hospice. I walked in crying because I just couldn't hold it in anymore. The cashier noticed right away and asked if I was okay. I told her my mom was in hospice, and she ended up paying for my treats and giving me a hug. It was such a kind, unexpected moment, and it meant a lot to me. Experiences like that are part of why I love supporting small, local places--there's real heart behind the counter. Normally love this place, today I was attempting to pick up some of my out of town were favorite options from a staple we grew up on. It was 645 callled they answered and I pleaded to let me please purchase as these options are all my out of town friends can get. I could hear through the door that they were gonna help reasoning being nc we don't do that. Sorry elevating guest experience for people who no longer have it available was too much trouble as I watched multiple employees not doing anything. I get it. It's their discretion but when your name and reputation has been around as long as it has. This was truly disssapointing. I will be looking elsewhere to refer friends. It's a little quirk of mine to get a list of signature things, especially food, from an area and see if I can find "the best" version of said item. Such was the case with the fruit kolache in Texas. After a few misses (and they will remain nameless here), I found, on my last stop before departing, the raspberry kolache from Broadway Daily Bread on my last stop before departing. The shop was a buzz of activity on a Friday morning, with some of the bread and baked goods just behind the counter in racks and displays, making it easy to find something that might fit your appetite. It felt like a place that locals frequented and had a cozy atmosphere. I came away with two of the baked delights and after trying them, I can easily say these were the best of three or four places I visited. They had a wonderful fluffy texture and the raspberry was perfectly balanced. It's probably very good that I don't live closer to this incredible bakery, but I'm happy for the residents of San Antonio. read more

I've been looking at trying fresh milled flour and this place was great. I found the price reasonable for the quality. I paid $4 for a small loaf, and the cashier sliced it after I ordered. They have a loyalty program, and I would definitely take advantage of it if I was from the area. read more

There are racks of bread (various types) just behind the counter area. Likewise, there are various sweet breads, which we were there for. Took home an almond croissant and a pecan bar. Both freakin' delicious. Only $6.75 for the two. The counter folks were friendly and helpful. If I'd been working, baking and on my feet since 7am, I doubt I could be smiling and be too helpful at 2pm. They also have cinnamon rolls, lemon bars and other yummy items. They noticed I was taking home some of my lunch and offered a larger bag to hold the baked goods and my lunch box. Thanks for being so thoughtful. Go there. read more

In the past, the experience has been lovely. Yet, I think since they got new people working the front, they aren't as friendly. For example, today I walked in around 1pm and wasn't acknowledged. There were 3 people behind me waiting in line. The lady who was ordering basically was taking the rest of the inventory and she mentioned to one of the younger ladies helping her that they could help us waiting in line. To which she replied they can wait. And I was just taken aback because the lady who used to work there consistently was so friendly. Anyways, just left a bad taste in my mouth and I left without any product, as did the other people in line behind me. A little friendliness goes a long way. Holy smokes! I was nursing in an ER, and one of my coworkers had a family member drop these off for us. Maybe it was because we all hadn't eaten for hours, but this place makes some incredible muffins and scones. I personally had a cinnamon muffin of some sort, and it was so delicious. They are huge muffins, and so moist and flavorful. Then I had a lemon scone, which was just as delicious. I made a point to take note of the name, because I will be coming too see y'all in person. Sorry folks but this is NOT an Italian bakery. An Italian bakery has crusty loaves of bread and breadsticks - hard and crispy, with and without seeds. An Italian bakery has biscotti, butter cookies, tri-colore cookies and regina cookies. They have ricotta cheesecake as well as the more popular - but less Italian - NY cheesecake. Kolaches and scones and muffins are not Italian fare. I'm sure they do a good job (based on reviews, but honestly I need to find an authentic Italian bakery. read more

Found this place, thanks to Yelp, whole waiting to pickup a book from Nowhere Bookshop. Everything was absolutely delicious and the entire experience was great. Great variety on the menu. At first the prices seem a little high, until you see the size of the pastries and taste them. Totally worth it! Called, placed an order easily over the phone. The guy was happy to check on what flavors they had. Pick up and paying were a breeze. There was a place to order at the window and another place to pick up. The order was placed on a table and there was a place to pay by card that didn't require any contact with anyone. They even had a tent set up to provide shade. Everything is delicious!! Cinnamon roll best ever and all muffins we've tried were tasty. When it says pecans, they mean it

First visit, so far so good. I went on a Friday, early afternoon. I'm a cookie hound, so when I saw the cookies I had to get one of each, oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, chocolate chunk. The cookies were very good and good size, you only need one, or can even share one. The right balance, not too soft and just enough crunch. I was surprised at their coffee prices. I normally don't buy coffee out because it is just so darn expensive. But when I saw I could get a large 16 oz coffee for $1.75, I jumped. The coffee was good, smooth. I look forward to going back and trying some of the other selections that others have pointed out. read more

What a great little neighborhood bakery. They have delicious fresh made breads, a giant variety of muffins and cookies, great scones and biscotti. When I walk in and see the display case I want one of everything. Fortunately common sense kicks in and I am able to restrain myself. Get there early and get one of their fresh from the oven cinnamon rolls. The lemon with ricotta cookies are to die for. On Fridays the have a bacon and cheddar scone. Very tasty with fresh bread they make daily. My friends had a salad and you could see fresh avocados in a large stainless steel bowl. I had the club sandwich and would highly recommend that I just think they need a bigger place with more tables and more parking especially at lunchtime. A true bakery. The amazing bakers start early in the AM, well before sunrise, to get the fresh treats made and ready for the people. The place smells nice and warm usually and great for an early morning start to the day. I dont know what ingredients they use but having enjoyed my fair share of the janky stuff growing up i can definitely tell theyre using only essential ingredients to make the finished product. No filler or substitutes. Just delicious breb. Customer service is great, ive only had a bland experience with one of the ladies behind the counter. Not worth the criticism. The others have been courteous and helpful every time. Delicious Kolaches that tend to sell quickly. I like to take them and some biscotti or a cinnamon roll home and toast in the air fryer a few minutes to add a smidge more browning and texture to the treats, not that theyre under by any means. That's why they didn't get five stars. But their baked goods were good. We had got three muffins. Blueberry muffin, Banana chocolate muffin and sour cream pecan muffin. They were yummy taste fresh really moist also really big muffins. They have other baked goods like bread, scones , cookies and brownies. They also do coffee. Ive been going here for about 10 years. They make amazing sandwhiches, but I feel as if the staff is either prejudiced or purposefully ignorant. I speak very clear English with no accent. Yet every time I have to give my name for an order, it is butchered or they write down a completely different name. When I go to pickup my order, my order will always be 'missing' because it is mislabeled. There will be an order ready exactly to my specifications but with an incorrect name. Instead of owning up to the mistake and apologizing, they will make you wait and make you a new one. Every time this happens I have to give a lengthly explanation that no the order is not missing, you just didnt write down my name correctly. This can be very easily fixed by asking "How do you spell that" after someone gives you a name youre not sure about. this happened today and it has happened too many times over the years, hence why i decided to make the review today. read more

Easily tops any cake I have had save for the one my grandmother would make (typical for East Texas where she lived it had enough butter and sugar to kill a horse). Also I have had a muffin, sweet roll and kolache there. I am usually a pop the top type of muffin guy, like Elaine(sp?) from Seinfeld. This one the whole thing was great. They also have a few options of hot coffee you can choose from. They make their products fresh daily which is one of the main reasons I keep coming back after all these years! They have done an excellent job at keeping their customers and employees safe during this trying time! They have found innovative ways to still cater to their customers by setting out a table outside where you can order and pay! By doing so, they are able to keep a minimum amount of people in and out of the shop!
