It was a very hot summer day and I was running errands at the UPS store, Sally's, and the bank when I decided I needed some sugar. I was so happy to see this place next to the H-E-B. I drove back around, parked and walked in. The menu is really big up on the wall but I spotted my favorite taro drink and a larger photo of taro with coconut. I knew I had to have it. Let me get the negatives out of the way. The wait was pretty unacceptable; took about 25 minutes for two drinks. My girlfriend & I each ordered a drink, standard Milk Tea & Cantaloupe Milk Tea, both with boba. Unfortunately, the thin liquid they were immersed in needed far more flavor. We both felt like we were drinking something closer to water. She couldn't even finish hers. By the time the ice melted, it really was subtly flavored water. The boba pearls were a little on the sweet side, which personally I do prefer. Pleased that they were also chewy and moist, so kudos to them for at least getting that right. Typical counter order with number system for drink pickup; the cashier was friendly and the ambiance in the little cafe seating area was welcoming enough, though I would take efficiency over friendliness for the most part. Nicely lit. Several little tables, each with a little plant. Walls decorated with huge menu murals. Informational poster on boba. Beneficial for financial reasons, I suppose, but not so much on feeling cozy! They also sell Asian snacks, as shown in their display counter. Fresh. That is the first word that comes to mind when thinking about my experience. The fruit looked delicious and tasted even better! We got a blueberry, coconut, avocado, and matcha green tea boba tea smoothies. They were creamy and so good; We finished them in 10 minutes tops. I arrived about 12:00 pm and they had a few customers. The drinks took about 10 minutes to make, but there were a few customers ahead of me. One item I noticed after ordering, which I think would be fun for my little ones for next time, is the "popping bobas"...I'm not very familiar with boba teas so this was really cool to me. Got the raspberry smoothie with mango jelly and it was way too sweet. The mango jelly didn't taste fresh either. My friends also agreed that their drinks were super sweet as well. I've been to a lot of different boba places and this one ranks near the bottom in terms of drinks. I have done a lot of looking, and I think this is my favorite centrally located boba tea shop in SA right now. There are a few new ones on Broadway and in the Deco district (which I will get to soon), and there's one out by HEB on Bandera. The one item on the menu that I really enjoyed were the fried fish balls. One order comes with 8 small fish balls for a really good price.
