Solid 3.5, but rounding up to 4 because it's better than average (and the cheese paratha bumped it up). 100% vegetarian and Indian food. The pictures on the menu do not necessarily match up with the entree it is next to. Ate palak paneer and butter paneer for dinner with side of parathas, and an extra cheese paratha. Palak paneer left much to be desired, was a little low on the flavor side. Butter paneer was much better, a little sweeter, and had a coconut flavor coming through. The plain parathas were thick and fluffy, great for sopping up sauces. The cheese paratha was really my star of the show- it was a kinda of Brie/cream cheese filling that was gooey on the inside. Somehow, it really brought extra flavor out in the entrees. We arrived at an opportune time, so we didn't wait, but we were the last to arrive before the rush. After us, there was a constant wait and solo customers were seated in any available space, even with other guests. This did not impact us. The staff did not rush any of the guests to turn over tables and accommodate the rush. The food seemed to be made upon request and the staff was constantly moving and serving. Could you describe me what the sausage-bacon boat looks like and why would you do one? Osma: Unfortunately the case is that this is just a persistent rumour, I have actually never made a sausage-bacon boat. However, I did fabricate a cheese-bacon roll from braided bacons, in which you use two packets of bacon and braid them into a flat, square slab. Then you top that with a thick layer of shredded mozzarella, and in the middle you put blue cheese, which becomes the heart of the roll. Then you roll the whole thing up and stick it into the oven. Once it's golden crispy, you eat it like a thick swiss roll cake, only with meat. But, you can find the instructions online for a sausage-bacon boat, or more accurately, a sausage-bacon pirate ship. Aapo: Ok, but you never made one then. Can you tell me how does it look like? Osma: It has bacon sails and sausage masts. Aapo: And what is the chassis of the boat made from? Osma: Minced meat. Aapo: pfff kekekeke lol Osma: The sausage-bacon pirate ship comes from the same era as Epic Meal Time, if you remember them? They had this bro cooking show and became famous youtubers by putting Jack Daniel's and a lot of meat in everything they made. Aapo: I'm not sure, were they the guys who were trying to make the most meaty things as possible. Like putting a chicken inside a pig inside a cow or something. Osma: Ah, you must be thinking of Turducken. Aapo: What's that? Osma: It's chicken inside a duck inside a turkey, with minced pork meat layers in-between. Aapo: Of course. What else could it be? Did you know that these things originate from medieval tradition of banquets that we're these long, extravagant dinners held by the lords that would include performances and several courses. And one of the things they would compete with was who would serve the most complicated food, and the dishes would be ridiculous. They would have bigger versions of Turducken, like starting from a cow and then a pig and then a turkey, and in the end it would be some tiny bird and maybe a small egg inside it. Some of them would have up to twenty layers. Osma: lol. Weren't swans a popular choice as well? Aapo: Yeah they would put pluck a swan, put smaller birds inside it and cook it, and then re-attach each feather individually before serving it. Osma: Did you know that swans are like the bullies of the bird world? They pick on other smaller birds for no reason. Aapo: Serves them right to be the center piece of a banquet then. Aapo: What's the meatiest food you've ever eaten? Osma: My brothers friend Pasi had this recipe where he would wrap beef tenderloin inside minced meat. Aapo: What? You mean a steak wrapped in minced meat? Osma: Yes it was kind of like beef wellington but he used minced meat instead of puff pastry. Aapo: wtf hahaha Osma: ...what else...I have to admit that in my past life I used to eat pretty meaty things. When I was a teenager I had an habit to buy frozen pizzas and top them of with an entire packet of bacon and mountain of cheese. There would be so much bacon grease that it would basically deep fry the pizza. Pretty nasty. Like fried snickers level nasty. Aapo: One of my friends in my hometown had a signature pizza in the local pizzeria which had five different meats, so basically everything they had. Salami, minced meat, kebab meat, pepperoni sausage and ham. And double cheese, of course. Osma: Goes without saying. Osma: I would say that in Portland I've eaten the most blatant things. It's the home base for both striptease and barbecue cultures. Aapo: Portland! I thought it was THE hipster city when it was a thing? Osma: Yes. But it's also actually a really good culinary city, and it has most strip clubs per capita in the world. They have insane portions and all these food challenges. Like if you manage eat this 2,5 kg blob of meat you'll get it for free. Also the strip clubs serve food and the most fucked up thing is that people told me it's sometimes really good. I didn't try it though. Aapo: Good to know, I guess. I had a meat overdose from a very traditional Finnish dish: the Iskender Kebab. Last time I ate one, which is years ago, I had the feeling that I really don't want to eat any meat for a week, or a month, or forever. Osma: Isn't it called "meat sweat" ? Aapo: Hah, what's that? When you so much meat that you start to sweat? Osma: Exactly. But I guess it's a believable phenomena, won't meat put your body through quite a stress? Aapo: For sure, and that kebab had at least triple effect. Osma: It's kinda fun to nostalgize eating meat, but I seriously feel much better when I don't eat meat. Rue Cail houses Paris's best Indian restaurants. A friend showed me this spot, and I just loved it. The restaurant is small but lovely, run by the kindest of women. It's all vegetarian and everything is delicious. Totally reasonable prices (a dish with rice is about 8-9 euros; samosas as an entrée for 3,50 euros). I had the dosa masala and it was extremely filling and delicious. You can also choose your spiciness level which I found to be fantastic. Their menu is huge, so it is quite hard to decide, everything looks delicious. But that's also an excuse to return many times! read more

The service from the beginning was rude. The waitress told us to hurry up and order. She had no patience and wouldn't answer our questions about the menu items. I won't be going back here. There was a thick layer of oil on top of the paneer that made the entire dish taste horrible. If you are trying to avoid fatty, oily foods, stay away from Krishna Bhavan . Everything has more oil than necessary. Authentic Indian food doesn't taste like this! Some of the items in the Thali were too sweet. The decorations were somewhat ugly. A statue of Ganesha was precariously placed right above my head. I could have hurt my head when standing up if I didn't notice it. The service was poor. The waitress hurried us and spoke rudely when we couldn't decide between two paneer dishes. The management needs to speak with the staff about proper etiquette and friendly customer interaction. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Please don't waste your time or money on this dump. Service: We made reservations for 5 people and when we arrived the lady that sat us down was extremely rude. She almost acted like we were a burden for being there. Later, when she was serving us, I made the mistake of saying I wanted an onion dosa. I quickly changed my order and said oops, I meant a cauliflower dosa. The server was so rude, she said "Are you sure this time?" When I said yes, she asked again "Yes? Sure?". Food: We ordered 3 types of Dosas, a chana puri, and a salt lassi. The masala dosa was decent but the other 2 were flavorless. The chana puri was undercooked! The puris were super doughy like they hadn't been fried enough. The salt lassi had no salt. It was basically yogurt with water. Ambience: The restaurant was tiny for the number of people they were hosting. For any vegetarian looking to spice things up a bit, this is the place to be. The menu is 100% vegetarian and offered a variety of options. The restaurant is cozy and has a warm, inviting atmosphere. Because the place is smaller, though, I would recommend calling in a reservation. I was immediately excited at the prospect of free water - there is a pitcher for the table when you sit down. After traveling through Europe a bit and paying for water in most restaurants, I was quite thrilled! I had a mango lassi, which was deliciously sweet albeit a bit thicker than I expected (although this didn't stop me from drinking the whole thing). I ordered the samosas filled with potatoes, peas and grated carrots. They serve you two, which was more than enough for me to start out - easily could have been split between my friend and me. For the entree I had the Dal Makhani curry (lentil base). The taste was subtle yet savory, and the portion size was perfect. To top it off, the restaurant is very affordable! You can easily get full here for only 10-15 euros per person. It did take a bit for our waiter to take our order, but the food came quickly after. There were two women running food, taking orders and checking on the guests; so, although we waited, I was nonetheless impressed by the pace they kept in the restaurant. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner! 4.6 stars! Finally - FINALLY - a place with good food, excellent service, and a pricetag that didn't set me back a month's salary! I ate way too much (a mango lassi, samosas, the thali, and a chai) for only 15 euros. And it was all good. Well, my samosa and chapatti were a bit stale. That's why there's a .3 reduction. (The other .1 reduction is because my lassi was in a plastic cup. A bit tacky, but whatever.) Other than that, I was really pleased. My co-diners were mmmming all the way through their meals. And every time someone else's meal came out, we all mumbled that we wished we could have ordered that, too. The dosas looked outstanding. Going back for one of those soon. The chai was excellent, and at only 1.50 euro, beats any other chai I've had in Paris thus far hands down. And the service! The service! I kid you not, I was pouring myself a glass of water (out of the pitcher of water that is on your table when you sit down!!!) crazy, I know!) and I emptied the pitcher. From across the room, the server noticed that there was no more water left and she - without me asking - brought me a new pitcher of water. When does that happen in Paris? The answer is never. So, I am happy to announce that I am able to add a restaurant from Paris to one of my "favorites" list. If you're a vegetarian in Paris, or even if you're not veg but just love good Indian food, this place is a must. I love French food, but I can't eat it every night. And I love meat, and I eat it most nights but not every single night. South Indian food satisfies both needs! If you have a vegetarian friend, this can be a great option. I always get the masala dosa as my main dish, because I love it too much. I've tried a few appetizers which were all tasty (especially the soup). They have an excellent coconut-based spicy (but not too hot) sauce which you will want to put on everything. Possibly good enough if you fancy Indian food that has mild flavours. The service was awful and to top it off there were a group of clients singing bad renditions of Hindi songs and hair Krishna chants, perhaps abit of bad luck for out visit. Really good masala dosas, and all-around vegetarian Tamil food. Krishna Bhavan serves the second-largest dosas I've ever seen. The crepe is quite thin. It's strangely tough and chewy for such a thin crepe, though, and this is my one complaint. Otherwise, the accompanying potato-based sambar is as good as it gets. There are better dosas nearby at Ganesha Corner, but if you want a more comfortable place to sit, Krishna Bhavan is your place. The food might not be the best around, but I've been coming here from the past few years because it's wallet friendly, and fully vegetarian. I felt that this was one of the best experiences I have had as a vegetarian. Nothing can ever top the service I had here and how each time they have made me leave with a smile. The food is just so well priced for Paris, and in the alternative vegetarian lifestyle you can't get Indian food as friendly and as well spiced and flavoured as this. We have observed that Masala Dosa & brinjal curry were stale & they have used rotten tomato in other curries. There was bad smell in that. Since, Masala Dosa was ordered by my 11 years son & it was not possible to eat the same therefore we had returned Masala Dosa to them. This kind of meal is harmful for health. We had ordered lemon rice in which brinjal curry was found stale again. I think they are befooling western people because they don't have idea about actual taste of Indian food. On the other hand, shamelessly they have charged for returned Masala Dosa as well.(Which was not consumed by my son at all). They are ruining the image of Indian people at international level. Unlike them we Indians believe in good hospitality even for unknown guest .Though I am Indian but I will strongly not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Never go to this place!! This area had a ton of Indian restaurants and we found Krishna Bhavan relatively easily. I've never been to a Sei Lankan restaurant but the ratings were good so we thought we'd check it out. People and tables were packed inside the tiny restaurant which I took as a good sign. We ordered huge platters with an assortment of dishes. It was very savory vegetarian food. The saag (spinach dish) was not flavorful as ones i've had in the past so I would not order that alone. They spoke English and were very polite and speedy!
