Rue Cail houses Paris's best Indian restaurants. A friend showed me this spot, and I just loved it. The restaurant is small but lovely, run by the kindest of women. It's all vegetarian and everything is delicious. Totally reasonable prices (a dish with rice is about 8-9 euros; samosas as an entrée for 3,50 euros). I had the dosa masala and it was extremely filling and delicious. You can also choose your spiciness level which I found to be fantastic. Their menu is huge, so it is quite hard to decide, everything looks delicious. But that's also an excuse to return many times!

Recommended by my Indian friend, Krishna Bhavan offers simple but authentic Indian food. I enjoyed a Masala Dosa for main, nicely presented and tasty but definitely not as spicy as expected. Cardamon tea and laddu were the perfect finish. All for the princely sum of 11 euro. Krishna Bhavan was a new experience to me of simple, homely food which was a nice change from more common northern Indian food so common in other European restaurants.

Tasty south Indian food. Good value for money. Seating was bit cramped but that seems the trend in Paris.

These smaller bistro type eateries are the lifeblood of the local cuisine. They consistently offer reasonably priced dishes that are full of flavor and technique. The wine and drink options are well catered to the menu and they provide options for most price points. The service we experienced was exactly what you want... our server had plenty of suggestions based on the offerings of the day. The service was attentive and responsive... not much more than you could ask for. I had the duck breast being offered... it was served alongside crispy potatoes, green beans, and a salad. Adding in the onion soup and a glass of wine... it quickly became a King's dinner at a very reasonable price. I would be more than happy to eat here again and look forward to exploring the rest of the menu offering many local and classic French options.

Like others have said, it's super small inside, so you'll get to know your neighbors really well. But your attention will be more focused on the food they bring out. I had the lamb with thyme sauce and my wife had the confit duck leg. Don't be afraid to pick the sauce of the day over the regular honey sauce. The sauce of the day on the day we went was a blackberry sauce which was crazy good. With a bottle of wine at 24 euros and both entrees under 20 euros, you couldn't really beat a meal of that quality in many places around Paris for that price. It was only after I ate at Le Potager did I see it had a bunch of great reviews on Yelp. It's definitely earned all those stars.

That's where Végébowl comes in to save the day as my first meal after arriving in Paris. Being the de facto food connoisseur of my group since I'm plant-based, I was excited to try this spot and see my friends enjoying all the food as well. We started with their Shiitake Mushroom Fritters (6€) and these were crispy, golden perfection in our mouths. They weren't overly fried or greasy and the mushrooms were tender and fantastic. For my main, I tried their Claypot Udon with Satay Sauce (12€). Even on a hot Parisian day, this noodle soup definitely filled me up. The sauce was fantastic - a mix of satay paste and coconut milk, and all the tofu and veggies incorporated with the udon was just heavenly. They also had BOBA. I was thrilled that they offered milk tea (with ice!) and boba, and while it didn't blow me away, the fact that it was even available meant I was ordering one. My friend agreed. Definitely loved dining here and would say they are one of my go-to spots now especially the next time I'm in Paris.

The Tofu Tout Flamme was one of their Buddha Bowls that caught my attention pretty quickly - I was intrigued by the fact that it is served over sticky rice, which is one favorite kinds of rice. It also had shiitake mushrooms in a saté sauce, marinated tofu, kobacha squash, plantains, and fresh greens. I definitely enjoyed every single bite. The small bowl was perfect for a light lunch. I like when places give you the option of small and large portions, so that you don't end up spending money on food that you're not going to eat and will end up going to waste. Many other items on the menu looked fantastic, too, so this will definitely be a place I come back to next time I'm in Paris.
