Tiniest hole in the wall bakery. I was wary of some of the reviews that I read about the customer service, but I braved it. Let me tell you, they were the nicest people. I was served by who I'm assuming to be the wife, and she was such a sweetheart. She even tossed a few extra goodies for us since it was towards the end of the day. The goods here are so affordable, and I feel great shopping at a mom & pop to help contribute. Definitely recommend the apple fritter or a cherry/cheese danish, they're my favorite items here! read more

Don't consider visiting this bakery for even a minute. The proprietress is the nastiest harridan I ever encountered in customer service. She was unspeakably rude to my friend, who had done nothing worse than ask her to identify some unlabeled pastries. She abused her roundly then told her to get the hell out. And let's move on to the baked good. You could get better at the local Stop & Shop. The baguette would have made a Frenchman cry. Maybe it's so bad because the food is baked with spite. It is so hard to find bakeries anymore in the New York area that makes homemade buns for Saturday and Sunday morning. Westchester, Long Island and the five boroughs, Kriegs is the best. The cinnamon raisin buns are amazing. The sugar jelly donuts have a great flavor and an the texture is perfect. The Boston cream donuts are the best I have had. He chocolate is great and the cream is not too sweet. I could eat these every weekend. Amazing. read more

Clean the place up or sell it to someone who appreciates the neighborhood enough to represent us well. I can't get past the appearance to purchase anything and based on some of the reviews I may be missing out but that, coupled with how an out of town guest of mine was treated by a rude person behind the counter who screamed at her to get out after commenting there was nothing in the showcase, I'm embarrassed by this location/owner. Maybe time to retire? Or take some meds because King Kullen has a great bakery and you're not the only game in town. I hope you choose to clean up your act- both personally & professionally- because out of town guests look for a local bakery and your appearance gives the town a bad name. read more

They gave my aunt day old rolls that were hard as rocks. she politely went back to the bakery to return them. She was well spoken polite and soft toned. The owner's wife proceeded to curse her out and throw the rolls into the garbage, and threw the money at her. She screamed at my aunt to get out of her store. The owner's wife was completely disrespectful and rude to my aunt. The owner did not have a mask on either. I am unsatisfied with the service at this establishment. read more

Came here for the first time in years today, and it was still great. My aunt and uncle used to have a house in Hampton Bays and would get pastries from here every weekend when we visited. I remember the cheese danish being excellent, and it still is! Wonderful jelly donuts and coconut buns also. So glad they are still around. read more

I LOVE Krieg's! The owner and his wife are so nice and I love supporting them. When I really want to start my day with a treat my go to is their Boston cream donut. I also enjoy picking up fresh bread from them. I was also pleasantly surprised how good their bagels are! I've ordered a custom cake from them as well that was a big hit. Their prices are extremely reasonable, especially considering their quality is better than some of the other "bakeries" out East. I used to visit this bakery when I was a kid visiting my grandparents in the Hamptons. My god...their jelly doughnuts could make me cry. UNBELIEVABLE. Their little jelly cookie sandwiches with chocolate drizzled on top were the best cookies ive ever had. Wonderful bakery. The owners are a husband and wife tandem. The husband is a very friendly, wonderful person. The wife on the otherhand is a 4 letter word starting with a capital C. She is a disgrace. Rude doesn't even begin to describe her. My grandmother came in here years ago picked up an order she had called in. Found out they screwed the order up. She brought it back in, the wife SCREAMED at my grandmother (mind you my grandmother was a long-time, weekly customer) that it was not screwed up. Finally, she relented, and proceeded to weigh our the cookie order and deducted the amount from the total. Real piece of trash. Great bakery though, negative one star for the nutjob behind the counter. read more

Growing up, all I can remember is anytime I went near this place, it was absolutely imperitive to get myself a piece of their fresh, homemade coffee cake. That stuff was the bomb. I haven't tasted it recently but next time I'm home, I'll go ahead and find out. From getting rolls for your next barbecue to a cake for the graduation party, or for just a little something sweet for dessert tomorrow night, Kreig's has it all. My mom places pick-up orders for parties and they always have it ready for her right on time (but I suggest before you drive over for your pick-up, take a minute just to call and confirm it's ready first...just in case). I've heard the wife from the dynamic ownership duo can be difficult at times. Then again, you're dealing with food. For people in the Hamptons. Why not cut her a little bit of a break? I can't imagine the crapola that woman must put up with on a regular basis from customers. So next time there appears to be hostility, why not just put on a smile and see where that gets you? :) read more

I came here once 4 years ago and was impressed enough with the quality of the baked goods that now that I am visiting again, I stopped back in. I have been out of the country, and had a hankering for a pecan pie, and I was told that I could order one, which I did. I came in the next day they were open.to pick it up and -- how pleasant to get a fresh-made pecan pie that is still warm! the crust was EXCELLENT!! The lady at the counter (who I learned is the owner´s wife) said to me ``this pie will last at least a week``. I answered, ``no, it won´t!``. It didn´t. I polished it off in 4 days. I saw some other reviewers liked the jelly donuts, and they weren´t wrong! They are so nice because they have a real home-made taste, that I cannot compare with any others that I have eaten. I also went back there because I wanted to visit with the people there--I feel as if they are my new friends in Hampton Bays. We were in town to visit an elderly friend, and needed a birthday cake, so happens they had just what we needed, made up, and were more than willing to decorate it for us as we waited. I called Krieg's Bakery in Hampton Bays on Tuesday and I spoke to the owner's wife. I tell her that I am looking to order a small two tier wedding cake and a half sheet of cake for Sat, May 25th. I ask her if the wedding cake can be chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and a white buttercream top. She said that mousse filling was no good for two tier. You need something dense. So I ask her what filling can I get?? She responds that there are a lot of choices and she is too busy to take my order and says to come in and she hangs up. The next day I go to Krieg's and a young lady starts taking my order. I ask if I am to pay now or pay when I pick up... She goes into the back to have the owner figure out the price and the owner comes out and says...Did you call yesterday? I said yes. She then says that we are too busy to take a special order for May 25th and I cannot place the order. My mouth falls open... And as I leave I say sarcastically, " What a nice local Bakery. They cannot take an order for a wedding cake because they will be busy on that weekend (10 days advance notice)! read more

Krieg's Bakery is awesome. This review is way overdue, since it's already November, but I came here about 4 times this past summer. Everything is made the old fashioned way, I guess is the best way to accurately put it. I've had the cheese Danish several times and they have awesome blueberry pie that's just fabulous. They also have a lemon ricotta pastry that's really wonderful. They have many many other items like canoli, eclairs, cakes and such. I honestly don't think you can go wrong. The best part is the location. They're in Hampton Bays, so close to the start of the Hamptons and they're ON Montauk Highway.
