The baked goods are very delicious, and made with love. The family who are the owners are of the highest quality. That sums it up.

We have been loyal Krieg customers for 28 years. Yesterday I bought 12 donuts and a pound of butter cookies. 6 of the donuts were for my neighbor who no longer drives. The donuts were compressed , chewy and odd. I should have looked more closely because they looked different. What a disappointment. Thinking that they would appreciate feedback (as in, maybe something isn't right with the ingredients or how they were cooked) I called. Right from the start I stated that I wasn't looking for compensation , that I simply wanted to let them know they weren't right. The owners wife was rude , cut me off and then hung up on me. Shameful. I had dropped off the donuts to my neighbor, called her today and she said "What happened to these ? They are inedible ". The photos on their website look nothing like what I got yesterday. Looking like they were run over by a car , I should have taken my $45 elsewhere . My mistake for not walking out but we won't be walking in there again. Very shoddy product and owner customer service. Disgraceful read more

Hands down best donuts I have ever had. I find myself going every twice a week to indulge in the Boston Cream donut. 10/10 Fresh bread is delicious Only caveat is it's cash only, but the. Again if you only have 2.50(formerly $2) means you can only get one donut not two which may not be a bad thing. read more

Krieg's is a staple in the Hampton Bays community. I love their crumb and cheese danishes. They are so fresh and taste incredible. This bakery has become a popular spot and there is now a line. Get there in the early morning right when they open. Staff is helpful and friendly. I get nostalgic when I visit Krieg's. Awesome Bakery! Every thing is DELICIOUS ! Do not miss the Lemon Meringue Pie. It's the best and they are always happy to take a custom order to make it year round. It's visually beautiful and the taste is simply the best. The pastries are delightful. The fresh baked rolls are what gets a friend of mine out of bed every morning - the apple fritters.... Yum-o. Small bakery in a strip mall that sells cookies, breads, pies and jelly donuts. As a jelly donut connoisseur who still laments the loss of Storks Bakery 10 years ago, I'm always up for testing a new jelly donut when recommended and a number of people suggested Kreig's. While it wasn't a Tier 1 version I'd say it was a very good Tier 2. Unlike many jelly donuts I've tried, this one had high quality jelly and there was no shortage of it. For me, Tilda edges Kreig's for best Suffolk County jelly donut. I'd recommend if you know what you want to call ahead as they often sell out of items especially by the afternoon. read more

We were looking for a good bakery in the area and other than baked goods at the supermarket chains or in Riverhead, there did not seem to be any. Krieg's is a little bakery hidden in a strip mall that if you aren't looking for it, you could miss it time and time again. I know people rave about the pastries and jelly donuts, but we were going there for their breads, The rye bread that they make is delicious. I bought it multiple times, initially without seeds [it was good] but then with seeds [even better] They make pies as well. There are two problems I have though-no reflection on their baked goods-parking is a problem and they are closed on both Monday and Tuesday. If you have a hankering for something, you have to wait until they reopen. Other than that, their rye bread with seeds is a winner! read more

I cannot stress enough that we all should support all the little local stores in towns that we live in or visit! Especially during these times! Krieg's is a 4th generation Bakery that has weathered all the economic storms from the Depression era up until today's covid 19. The current owner/ Baker's father was a recipe formulator for Hostess back in the day, so this family definitely knows the scientific ins and outs of baking. Most of the offering are traditional German baked goods, however because his wife is Brazilian, they also offer a few Brazilian Delicacies when she can get into the kitchen to bake as well. Their donuts alone are not to be missed! The jelly filled are exactly what I grew up with back in the 80s when NYC had diners that baked their own jelly filled yeast doughnut themselves. Their chocolate chip cookies are the most addictive and delicious I've tasted in a long time, and I'm a chocolate chip cookie baking connoisseur. The chocolate chip cookies are not clawingly sweet, slightly chewy yet have a super tender flakey crumb. Their baguettes remind me of those that I've had in France super crunchy on the outside and Arie and hoist on the inside, just a perfect combination. Sadly it looks like once this Baker is ready to retire, this place will close since his kids have their own aspirations of being a doctor and an engineer, which are cool in its own right. The bakery is a small store in a strip mall on the main street through Hampton Bays, so it's easy to miss. That would be sad, though, since the baked good are excellent! We got there late in the day, so they were pretty well cleaned out, but managed to get some cupcakes and butter cookies. They were excellent, and the staff there were so, so kind! They were cash-only when we were there, not sure if it's always that way. But the prices are very, very reasonable, especially for the quality of the baked goods. read more

We came after checking yelp for bakery close to us. Ordered the Apple fritter, jelly donut and a coconut stick?? The Apple had no Apple, coconut a smattering of coconut on the outside and the jelly, decent amount of jelly when you got inside. Everything basically tasted the same. Just doughy. It took two days for someone to answer the phone at this bakery. When I finally got through, I started asking the woman about some pies and other items I saw on their website because I am going to a barbecue and wanted to make sure I ordered enough. She was a little short with me and I guess I asked too many questions because she said "I just told you and hung up on me", I was going to place a nice size order but now I find another bakery. Everything is fresh, delicious, and so danm good :). So far we have tried the cheese Danish, cookies, Boston cream donuts, canolis, eclairs, cream puffs, cheese ring....Ha! Just about everything and we have yet to be disappointed. Everything is made fresh daily so there's always a variety. We live in the city and have had our fair share of "good old school Italian bakeries" from Manhattan to Brooklyn to Queens and this is simply the best! 5 star CRULLER. So I got a message that got me to go back and read my review of this place many years ago. Now that was a funny memory. Fast forward to this crazy year of 2020, my dad can sadly no longer go out. So we went all the way out here and brought him back his favorites. Unfortunately they don't bake certain things on weekdays, only on weekends. But the jelly donut was excellent. And if you can get there early morning to get the crullers fresh out of the oven. Go. That cruller was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Well worth the fat, calories and at a nice low price. read more

The bakery is fine. Unfortunately one of the attendants is the nastiest person around. Case 1. I asked - very nicely- to get the pieces from the center of the pan. I literally got yelled at. She is nuts. Case 2. Today. Someone was at the counter, so I was socially distancing and waiting for him to finish to start the order. Third person comes in. The nasty starts taking care of her, and tells me I had my turn. Worse than the soup nazy! The pastries are ok, nothing out of this world. Please give this woman her meds!! Fresh NY rye from Krieg's, kosciusko mustard and swiss cheese = contender for my last meal on earth. We've been buying rye bread here since I was a sparkle in my parents' eyes, and it's hands down, best I've ever had. Soft, pillowy and amazing delicious. They also sell all kinds of donuts, pastries, etc., and everything they make is mouth-watering. The dude who's always there when I go in (owner I think?) is totally friendly. We stopped in mid-morning on a weekday in May. Grabbed a variety of pastries, including their jelly filled donuts. These are alone a good enough reason to come here. The filling is plentiful and a nice dark colored jam. We dipped some glazed twists in it! The bread looked lovely; i wish we could've had time to eat a loaf. Walked in this place this morning all excited to get some good pastries. Saw something on top shelf that looked yummy and simply said "oohh what's this?" And the woman who apparently owns the place starts going off saying angrily "I don't need this nonsense-it's all flour sugar butter-everything" and kept going. I said "Excuse me?" Because I thought/I hoped I had misunderstood...I didn't misunderstand. I tried to reason with her saying I just wanted to know what it was called because it looked good...
