    Crab cakes and grilled salad
    Alice M.

We really loved the food at Krewe! My husband is a Johnnie, and grew up in the area, and he thinks it has to be the best restaurant around. We made a reservation for a Saturday night and it was busy, but you could probably walk in and be seated if it's a small party. The dinner rolls to start off the meal were amazing. We also really enjoyed the jambalaya, crab cakes, and the grilled salad. The only savory thing we wouldn't get again was the carne asada-- it was fine but not as special as the other dishes. The dessert was also a bit of a disappointment unfortunately, we tried the bread pudding but it came out lukewarm at best. The cast iron it was served in was cold, which was surprising, why not just heat it in that? The drinks were alright. Our service that particular night was pretty bad too-- our waitress was quick to take our order and the food came out pretty quick, but it took a long time for her to come back, and then another 10 minutes to get us a dessert menu. She was running all over the place so I think was busy, but I could tell she forgot about us and I wished she had atleast acknowledged it and apologized. Hopefully just a one-off. We will be back next time we want to have a date night in St Joe, and want to check out their bakery next door after trying those delicious dinner rolls.

Came here for Father's Day and it was one of my favorite brunch spots that I have visited. The server was very patient with our big family order and was very helpful with her recommendations. Everything I tried was amazing from the oysters to the eggs Benedict and topping it all off with the beignets. This is definitely a place I will come back.

Krewe is a vibrant space with tons of references to its southern NOLA roots. The service is very friendly and helpful from the get go. The real standout on top of everything though is the food. Starting with the cornbread, heaping with tons of butter, it's a perfect initiation to your meal. Next up was the Crab Cakes, which were top tier. No matter you were, let alone in St. Joseph, MN. Creamy, savory interior with a crisp yet soft enough exterior form. The remoulade and cocktail sauce (both homemade) only added to an already great dish. Finally, the crawfish étouffée had a nice kick, great flavors, and was perfectly filling for an individual meal. If you're craving some Cajun/creole food, you can't do much better than this!

Review #2 Been here done that and will keep going! We brought some friends who didn't talk much when the food started coming! Literally. They just kept saying they are glad we recommended this place and it was worth the drive from the cities! Love the vibe in the restaurant. The inside/outside feel on a nice day when you can see the sun through the huge windows. It lights up the place! There is patio seating, which makes for great people watching! Our waitress Danielle was very friendly and explained the menu and specials.

When you sit down at Krewe it is easy to forget you are in a small college town in Minnesota. The decor, the beverages, the food- this is a big city experience. I was in town on business so only had time for lunch but the food was fantastic. The Ettoufaie (butchering the spelling) reminded me of The first time I tried the dish in Memphis. (Yes, I know it's more of a NOLA dish, but that was where I tried it first) Tasty food and beverages, excellent service. Highly recommend

Wow what a great experience! Our waitress Callie was the absolute best. She had such great energy and was so kind in explaining the menu and offering suggestions since it was our first time at Krewe. The food was served in a shareable style so between two people we ordered an appetizer, large plate, shareable plate, and dessert, and we were stuffed by the end of it! All of it was so so delicious, and not pictured because we were too excited.. THE BREAD ROLLS! Krewe has a neighboring bakery which provides the bakery items to the restaurant and I'm not joking when I say these are the best rolls I've ever had. And they were served with a honey butter!! I could've eaten 12 of them. The restaurant was pretty quiet for a weekday night so no reservation was needed. There's also nearby lot parking as well as street parking. I can't wait to go back and try more things from their menu!

Really nice restaurant in Saint Joseph with a Nawlins menu and a great beer list including beers from a variety of breweries. The food was really good and well prepared. The hush puppies were delicious and had a spicy kick. The breading on the catfish was amazing. The stuffed pork chop was a ton of food and really good and the carne asada was tender and delicious. Only minor complaint was it is geared more as a sharing thing and we are it more as entrees. My stuffed pork chop pretty much came out after everyone else was done with their food even though we ordered at the same time. But still it is worth checking out if you're in town!

Krewe delivers seasonal Southern comfort with polish. Fresh ingredients, bold Louisiana flavors, and beautifully balanced dishes make every plate feel intentional. Cozy vibe, warm service, and food that hits with both soul and sophistication. A standout dinner spot worth returning to.

Krewe is a true gem in Minnesota. I had the shrimp étouffée and the gumbo, and both dishes instantly brought me back to New Orleans -- rich, soulful, and full of authentic flavor. The spices were balanced beautifully, the portions generous, and every bite tasted like it came straight from the French Quarter. Warm service and a lively atmosphere made the experience even better. This is the closest you'll get to New Orleans without hopping on a plane.

My Family and I were looking for some good, fresh and unique food and Krewe delivered just that! Not only did the food absolutely knock our socks off but, the staff was so kind and worked so hard to ensure us a positive experience! The recipes used in the "signature" dishes are the grandfather of the owners truly making us feel lucky to be able to try them and lucky we were! With each bite we felt closer to Louisiana! We also got to see the owner/chef hard at work in the restaurant, which truly showed how much work has been put into this special and spectacular small business! The restaurant was very clean, organized, and had some much fun art on walls and plates! overall we LOVED this place!

Such a great dining experience! The vibe is a southern comfort New Orleans energy. We tried a few things on the menu, but I ordered the jambalaya and hush puppies. The jambalaya was a little too salty for my taste but it was full of flavor. BUT the palate cleanser was the bread pudding! It was by far the best I've ever had anywhere! Service was quick and efficient! If I'm ever back in MN, I would absolutely return.

It was not great. The problem? I think it was because owner/chef Rene Ruiz Olivar was acting as waiter, not chef. We gave Sr. Ruiz the freedom to choose our tapas, with one exception, the black ink pasta with scallops and shrimp (Tinta Negra) that reviewers have raved about. He said, no problema--he would serve it. Then he must have forgotten because we never got it. The first tapa served, almond-crusted manchego (Almendrado), was plated prettily and was delicious but oh-so-sweet. It was an odd choice for a starter, would have been better as the finale in case nobody ordered dessert. Soon came a lamb tapa (Cordero). The lamb chops' quality was uncertain as the meat was severely overcooked. El Bodegon's langoustines (Gambas al Ajillo) had given every bit of their sea flavor to the sauce, which was magnificent, we all agreed. But where were the dish's promised mussels, the rice? One shared plate, a beef tenderloin tapa (Carne Brava), had apparently lingered too long in the kitchen--the meat was nearly cold. I adore papas bravas (Patatas Bravas). I must have had the dish a dozen times or more during my last trip to Spain, in 2017, when I visited friends who live in Ronda. During my six-week stay, we toured Andalucia, staying at hotels in large cities and visiting small towns. I also spent time sola in Madrid and Barcelona. Unlike in Spain, El Bodegon's potatoes were diced to death. Never in Spain have I ever had patatas bravas that were not substantial in size. All in all, I found the vegetables accompanying the tapas unrecognizable except for the tiny Brussels sprouts. The rest seemed chopped up or stirred to pieces in the pan. Some of my friends had churros for their dessert. They deemed them appropriately hot and tasty. My dessert was cheesecake torte, decked out with a candle as it was my 90th birthday. The torte was a gold-star winner. It was absolutely delicious, its plating the most successful of the evening. It was so perfect it almost made up for the sub-par tapas that preceded it. One of us had a view of the kitchen from his seat at the table. He saw a man other than the chef/owner doing the cooking. Was he a trainee? Did Sr. Ruiz help with the plating? God knows he didn't have a lot patrons to contend with in his role as waiter. It was a slow weeknight, and there were never more than four tables occupied. I sincerely regret that our time at El Bodegon differs from so many reviewers. Like them, I want to see Sr. Ruiz's little restaurant succeed. He has a hard row to hoe, and I hope a disappointing dinner like ours does not befall anyone else going forward.

As usual, Rincón 38 served up a splendid evening thanks to the delicious food, wonderful service from Fernando, and delightful environment. We got some of our reliable favorites--piquillos, the queso frito, and the coliflor. As usual, the flavors and plating were exquisite. I always appreciate the balance of flavors and textures. Salty, savory, sweet, and piquant meet tender, creamy, and crispy. It is truly always a delight for all the senses. My birthday treat was the créma catalana, the Catalan answer to crème brûlée: sweet custard sits under a crunchy sugar crust and is topped with a lovely cinnamon-flavored apple concoction. We also tried a relatively new addition to the dessert menu--the Spanish coffee flan. With just the right amount of sweetness, this flan was sturdy and melts in your mouth. The coffee balanced the sweetness and creaminess--imagine the best coffee dessert you have had, and you're getting close.

Also, now looking at the bill even closer, none of us had a mimosa and we were charged $8.95 for one.How did we miss that? All added up we paid $16.00 more than we should have. CRAZY!!
