Arrived at Jake's hopeful for a quick breakfast but were told we would have to wait for a table even though when many were available. Once seated we were placed next to a table with 15 or so very loud men! We couldn't talk to each other for all their loud conversation! The food was the next disappointment! I had the Irish Benedict and asked specifically if the English muffins were toasted not grilled, the menu says toasted. They were barely toasted, the corned beef was ground so small you could barely recognize it, filled mostly with potatoes and onions! Not good! My sister had fried eggs, potatoes and sourdough toast. The toast was not sourdough, eggs overdone and potatoes tasted like meat. Service was slow, not the friendliest, and the server never asked how are food was...my guess...she knew it wasn't very good. Such a disappointment!!! I can't state enough how disappointed we were with our visit!!! The burger I ordered came to be cold. To me it was put together without care. It was very sloppy. I asked for a small amount of mayo, it came a huge glob of mayo just in the center of the burger, not only was it a big glob, it wasn't even spread out. The lettuce they put on was the worse part of the head of lettuce. It was thrown together without respect. My friend suggested I send it back but I said no because we will no longer be visiting here. Went to Jake's last Saturday and although we expected a wait to be seated being a Saturday evening we were seated in the time foretold. Place was extremely busy and when we were seated it was our server, Gianfran that brought us to our table. This young man was extremely polite, friendly and definitely busy. He brought our beverages and then our dinners to us in a very expedient manner even though he had other guests to attend to. Food was very good as usual but in this occasion the service was exceptional. Our usual experience at Jake's is seated by the host, server takes the order, brings beverages and the dinners brought out by kitchen staff. The food, the staff, the atmosphere all get 5 stars!!! We ordered at the outside window and sat at an umbrella picnic table. The food came out in a timely manner and was delicious. I got The Rachel which is a Turkey rueben and hand cut fries. ( if you're ever on the mood for some amazing fries this is the place!) My friend got the grass fed burger and onion rings. It has been strange weather lately. One minute it's very sunny, next minute it's raining. That was the case when I stopped at Jake's Drive-In for lunch with the parking lot almost full. Jake's Drive-In offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner serving American fare of mostly sandwiches, burgers, seafood, fried foods, platters, and Bliss Ice Cream. Free wi-fi is available. See the menu at http://www.jakesdrivein.com The place has a full service inside dining room and exterior takeout windows with picnic tables nearby. I decided on takeout since the dining room look very busy. It took a while to get someone's attention that I was standing at the window. They have overhead menu boards over the takeout windows which are out of date, so you're given a plastic menu to look over. I decided on the Crispy Chicken Platter ($6.99) and a cup of Crowded Clam Chowder ($3.25) for takeout. It began to rain after I ordered. The food was cooked to order so it took about 10 minutes for my food to be ready, then it stopped raining. The Chowder was okay to me with minced clams and potato in a creamy broth. The Crispy Chicken Platter was a good sized portion which had 4 plump lightly breaded white meat chicken tenders with crispy battered fries and light cole slaw. I was not asked or given bbq or honey mustard for dipping, but was given ketchup packets. Overall, the food was decent and not bad for under $11. Basically I would suggest staying away from this place. The food has the taste and feel of leftovers. The place is dirty and the staff seems like they hate working there. The waitress inform us she is looking for another job because of the abusive behavior of the manager. It's too bad because this place is very convenient for us. Six of us went in for lunch on 4th of July. The place was hopping but luckily I called and made reservations figuring it would be busy. We were greeted immediately upon entering and brought right to our table. Two people had the fish and chips, one person had fried shrimp, I had the New Orleans Pasta Bowl, one of my granddaughters had a cheeseburger and french fries and one granddaughter had pancakes with M&M's. The portions are WELL worth the reasonable prices. The food was outstanding. The New Orleans Pasta Bowl had just enough heat to make it extremely tasty and delicious. The Cajun cream sauce in this dish is amazing. I highly recommend any of the dishes we ate today but I can personally speak for pasta bowl. Also, every staff member we encountered was very friendly. Our waitress was so good with the kids, giving them time to place their own order. They have a huge variety to choose from so there is literally something for everyone from soup and sandwich to full on meal. Kinda a drive-in diner feel to this place on Boston Rd. I have been there now three times mostly for burgers fries and onion rings. I did on one occasion have the New England "Clam Chowda" recommended by the owner and what a surprise that was. It probably was one the best chowders I have had in these parts and there still is an ingredient in that preparation I am still trying to figure out. No matter, whatever it was made that chowder a clear standout. All the burgers served are Angus and available in 3oz. or 8oz. portion size as either regular or specialty type, meaning lots of different toppings. What really got my attention was the house fries available in hand cut or regular frozen fast food french fries. I ordered half hand-cut and half regular and to my surprise, I liked the regular fries better. I think that is because the frozen fries are blanched in a factory oil that imparts a little bit more flavor than the standard Frymax oil used by most restaurants. Regardless of your preference both fries are very good and as for the onion rings served here, hands down, straight up some of the very best I have had almost anywhere I have been. I want to try the fried seafood at some point to see how they do but so far I can highly recommend Jake's for its burgers, fries and onion rings. read more

Jake's is a favorite spot for our family especially in the summer. They became a favorite stop for my family for the ice cream but since those first visits we've gone back for breakfast and dinner. There's nothing earth shattering about their food and on occasion the service can be painfully slow (one server in particular to be honest.) The best thing I ever had here was the Strawberry and Cream sundae. It was over the top good, easily sharable unless you're greedy with your carbs. read more
