This place and menu is all over the board. Sushi, deli and kosher. What an eclectic blend of foods. It seemed so oddballish, I was curious to try it out, was that the point? Not open for dine-in yet as is May 11th. They really advise you to order your food online, that way it's ready for pick-up. We ordered a spicy California, Krusty Krab, Fiesta roll and a vegetable works too. The online order estimate says it'll take 40 minutes. I called them back and they told me it should take about half the time. Would it inflated estimate online though, it would determine many people from ordering, as it takes so long to make some generally simple rolls. My order cart didn't save when I had to give the guy the list of items on the order to tell me it would take me half of the time. How utterly frustrating. Let folks order via the phone. It's a pain to check off and fill out the online form. So frustrating. read more

I ordered, for Shabbos dinner, cucumber salad, roast chicken (1 was 2 small pieces) & redskin potatoes and Hungarian Vegetable Soup. We went back and bought 2 pieces of grilled chicken and farfel. All of my pickup order was ready upon my arrival. We are celebrating my wife's birthday today. We know that all the food will taste great. We really like the Hungarian Vegetable Soup and will be back for more. A wonderful place and we well be having Kraving's food many more times. read more

Great service. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and pleasant. Not your typical sushi menu, but some of the usuals are in there, I.e California rolls etc. no shrimp options (they're kosher). Think this place is definitely one of the healthier and fresher options out here. I felt pretty good about that. The presentation was also neat and beautifully done. Only thing, there's no bathroom in this place. Pretty different. Being 8 months pregnant that posed a problem, guess I'll empty my bladder prior to going and drink nothing if I ever go in there pregnant again. This place didn't wow me. Very disorganized. Flew in from out of town went in with 3 of us for quick bite. Burgers. Went up to order assuming like in 10-15 minutes food would be ready ! After about 30 minutes I went up to cashier and asked when would we be receiving food - as she never took my name for me to pick up my food. Another gentleman said no worries will get order started. Waited more. Than went to another gentleman and gave them my receipt because they had no idea what my order was - he said he will start it immediately. Soup alone gets 5 stars. Ordered 1/2 lb pastrami and corned beef sandwich. Combo sandwich not on menu, so was difficult to order. Bread sliced thin on machine. Too thin. Not enough bread texture to stand up to meat. Terrible bread/meat proportion. Meat is good. Tasty, but easy to find better. Coleslaw is very good. Dill pickle is good too. Not new dill, but a real dill pickle. You only get a tiny spear. For a $15 sandwich, I should at least get 1/2 a pickle. Tried the burger. Very tasty meat. Price: yowza, this place is expensive. Like heart pinching expensive. Lunch for 2 with cup of soup, sandwich, and water was over $40! And we got our own food, ate with plastic utensils, and bussed our own table. Overall: overpriced. I had eaten there one time before taking my wife there this past Sunday after driving to Detroit for a Tigers game before leaving to go back home. We tried to order by phone and there was no answer. We tried the on-line portal to order and it didn't work. Finally we drove in to order in person. There were no customers in line so we made our selections and were about to put in the order and pay, when the cashier suddenly said that she'd check how long it would take. She told us one hour for two sandwiches with no sides. Maybe we picked the wrong day given it was the day after Passover, but there was no explanation given for this, and it certainly hadn't taken that long the previous time I was there. So I discovered this place by googling sushi spots near Southfield MI. I started ordering from this restaurant literally almost 3/4 times a week and I would get 2 sushi rolls with every order. I recently placed an order for 2 sushi rolls like normal and as always I place in the special instructions box to add cucumbers to both rolls. After ordering and picking up the food, when I arrived home there were no cucumbers in either rolls. I wasn't happy about that at all but the restaurant closed a little early so I decided to call the next day. I called and spoke to an associate and told her what happened. She begin to explain to me that it shouldn't have been done the way that I ordered it online. I told her I have been ordering there since the beginning of July and have never had an issue until now. She said let me ask my manager to see what we can do for you. She placed me on hold for about 3 minutes then came back to the phone and said she had spoken to the manager and the owner and the only thing they could do is refund the dollar for the amount of the cucumbers. I told the lady it's the principal of the matter. If a business messes up an order it's only right and fair to offer the individual half off their next order or offer a free roll for their mistake. But nope...they wanted to take the cheapest way out and give me a dollar back. If I wanted an ingredient added and the ingredient does not get added to the meal then the meal is not complete and not satisfactory to me the customer. I soon realized that Kravings in Oak Park does not care or value their returned customers at all!!! I will definitely find another sushi place or I will just travel a few extra miles and take my business to Birmingham Sushi. Birmingham Sushi is next level awesome from the time you walk in the door until the tome you leave. The owner comes out to greet patrons a lot of the times and I think the moral of Birmingham Sushi is superb to say the least!!! Don't try your loyalty at Kravings, because you'll end up being disappointed and they could care less to do anything about their mistakes...sadly! read more

Given the relative scarcity of kosher dining options in the Detroit area, it is a pleasure to find a spot that not only complies with dietary laws of observant Jews, but also offers a good variety of tasty fleischig (meat) offerings. Kravings comes to us from a family with a long and well-regarded history of feeding the Kosher community . Props to the proprietors for daring to serve meat - many recent kosher venues have been all-dairy. I had the chicken schnitzel sandwich and chicken noodle soup. Both were hearty and well- executed. The ambiance is a bit problematic - the small space with as many tables as possible squeezed in makes for a tight fit. On the plus side, you may make some new friends by the time you finish your meal. Avoid sitting too near the door in winter, lest you get frozen out by the frequent coming and going of patrons. Service was friendly and relatively efficient, but if you 're on a tight schedule (or the least bit claustrophobic), you 'd be better off ordering carryout. All in all, a welcome addition to the neighborhood. No table service, just the option to order from the counter and dine in. read more

My family has been to Kravings for dinner about a dozen times in the restaurant's first year. I've been an additional dozen times over this past year for meetings or just grabbing a quick bite to eat. The food is always delicious. The chicken breast and BBQ Beef are wonderful. The mashed sweet potatoes are always seasoned well and yummy. My kids love the hambugers, hot dogs and chicken sandwiches. While I'd only grade the sushi as good, it's important to have a kosher sushi option in the Metro Detroit Jewish community. Sushi tastes better from Kroger. Don't get sushi not made fresh. Way over priced and doesn't look like any of the pictures.

Found their Chazal burger to be quite tasty (though overpriced in my personal opinion). My sister in law's sushi order was missing tempura, but the employee behind the counter rectified the mistake by remaking the order and giving us the sushi that was incorrectly made. A kosher sushi bar that is also a deli... this could get weird. I ordered a yellowfin roll. The price seemed high, but there was an ample amount of fish in the roll, so if you're trying to get your protein in, it's worth it. It was not the freshest fish, but I have had worse. I ordered a side of sushi rice, and they looked at me like I was crazy. Apparently that is an unusual request. The sushi rice lacked the standard vinegar. Looking for a kosher meal, this is your place. If you are looking for something with taste? Not so much. Ordered hamburger medium rare. Got a piece of shoe leather. The Dude Abides. This place is awesome. Finally, a kosher sushi bar! I always get the special of the week but the Manhattan roll and the Godzilla roll are top notch. The only thing I don't like when I dine in is that they call your name when you order and I always use a fake name for my enjoyment like Andy Kaufman, Johnny Depp, Robert Dinero, Dustin Hoffman, etc. but they never say my name out loud; they'll just say what I ordered and say everybody else's name. Except sometimes when I use Andy Kaufman they'll say Andy, and I'll say Andy who? But nobody get's it because it's like nobody knows that Andy Kaufman was one of the most brilliant comic geniuses ever to walk this earth. I can't believe how many people don't know who he is, and all the strange things he used to do? Never tried their deli food but it looks good! I read some reviews and people complain about the price but whenever you buy kosher it's going to be a little more expensive but it's worth it if you're staying shomer kashrut. I don't keep Kosher but met a friend here who does. The burgers were delicious, and the fries -- served in huge quantities -- were equally delicious. Service was reasonably quick but there is extremely limited seating inside this small restaurant. Next time, I'll plan on carry-out, as we had to hover to wait for other groups to vacate their tables. read more
