It basically looked…read morelike a pizza joint in a non-descript building wedged between a parking lot and 11 Mile Road - how good could it be? It could be 5 good! We sat outside by the parking lot, but they have a nice little area with big, comfortable tables. There's a QR code you can scan to see the whole menu, which was very handy, because the menu is huge! It took us a long time to scroll through the entire drink menu because there were so many choices! For dinner, we decided to get 12 inch pizza so we could try a bunch of different kinds. We thought that the barbecue chicken pizza was one of the best we've ever had! The pesto pizza was also outstanding!

The interior was cute, the chairs were comfy, and the vibe was chill. Ordering was a painless process, thanks to the QR code on the table and the self serve water station was handy. Typically when trying pizza somewhere for the first time we like to order basic toppings, but we couldn't resist the bbq chicken option and I'm glad we went that route because it was yummy, filling, and there was enough to share. Their coffee and desserts looked and sounded fab so I'm excited to try those next time.

A little tricky to get to since the intersection of Franklin and Northwestern Hwy with its confusing Michigan left turns. But you awarded with a large parking lot and larger dining room with patio seating than the other 2 locations I have been to. Not a large menu with a few variations of traditional pasta, Italian dishes and pizza. Since I had have their pizza, I just decided on a pasta with a meatless sauce. Others seem to have their own favorites. Since Mensa people can be "interesting like Sheldon on the Big Bang", the wait staff seems use to this and was there when needed and stayed a distance for sanity's sake. My pasta wasn't bad but only got to enjoy it fresh since a storm blew in that knock power out for days, so there went my leftovers. It was bad, but not one I would ordered again. I will stick with pizza. The berry sorbet was excellent. Do know if I would be back unless it was to eat with the group again.

They're running a $20 8 square special until the end of October of just cheese, so that's what I ordered. I went and picked up the pie at their contact location and as always it was hot and fresh. I drove back to the house and ate half of it while watching the MNF game. Delicious cheese, tomato sauce bursting with flavor and that always crispy delicious crust. Buddy's pizza for the win.

This was my first time having Detroit-style pizza in Detroit, and Buddy's absolutely lived up to the hype. Without question, it's the best Detroit-style pizza I've ever had. Every bite was like an explosion of cheesy, crispy, comforting goodness. The crust was perfectly soft and airy on the inside with those incredible caramelized cheese edges that gave every bite an amazing crunch. Just a heads-up, this isn't fast food. Since it's a thick pan pizza made fresh, expect to wait a little longer, but it's 100% worth every minute. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant, which made the experience even better. I also had my first Michigan Mule, and it did not disappoint! From the outside, it wasn't immediately obvious where to enter, but once inside, I was blown away. The walls are packed with decades of memorabilia, articles, awards, murals, and the story of how Detroit-style pizza was born. It felt like eating in a piece of pizza history, not just another restaurant. As someone who has eaten Detroit-style pizza back home, I can already tell every future slice will be measured against Buddy's, and that's a tough standard to beat. If you want authentic Detroit-style pizza from the place that started it all, this is a must-visit. Thank you, Buddy's, for an unforgettable meal. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Detroit!
