Well, where do I begin! I'm visiting from Texas and I went to this place because it suggested. From the moment I walked in the door the gentleman taking the orders was VERY RUDE AND NASTY. He yelled at us because we was unsure who order he was calling out and proceeded to cuss at my family as well as my pastor that was with me. Here's why: Ambiance: The interior is cheerful: modern, bright, with picnic tables featuring comfortable wooden benches--and plenty of them, meaning this place is usually pretty darn busy. Perhaps because it's centrally located? It's NOT because their Reubens are great. They're just okay. 4/5 Food: First time here and the impression is not great, although it's okay. First, they forgot to put my sandwich on the onion roll I asked for. Even though the order taker had me repeat it twice. Second, the supposed (grilled) rye bread isn't really rye, and wasn't grilled with a crusty, buttered finish. (Maybe margarine? Inferior choice.) There are no caraway seeds, it tastes like a thin Texas toast--so it's a cheap substitute for the kind of rye a Reuben should come with, standard. The supposed Swiss cheese doesn't taste Swiss at all, but very bland and no Swiss flavor. They cheaped out here. A minor beef about the pickle: You don't get a choice of old or new dills. That's STANDARD at a Jewish deli. Where it hits near bottom is in flavor. The corned beef taste is WEAK. It's not overly salty, a good thing, but the special taste of corned beef should be front and center, and it's just lacking here. They must have cheaped out in the meat sourcing. I wouldn't call a bad sandwich, but it's not what a Jewish deli is all about. Even if it's not billed as a Jewish deli, in Southfield Michigan with its great Jewish cultural tradition of Jewish delis, this one MUST compete--but fails on many counts. I do not often categorize food as nasty but THIS was nasty. Granted, I only ordered dessert so cannot speak to the quality of other items but what I did experience...inedible. When I finally get the order I notice that half of my order is wrong. I got sweet potato pies when I ordered peach cobblers. The pies were burned along the edges and pale in the middle. The cake I ordered was correct but looked incredibly unappetizing as it was smashed and appeared as though the edges were burned though kinda covered with a bright yellow frosting. I decided, since I had them and it was too late to try and get something from somewhere else to give them items a try. MISTAKE. The sweet potato pie was both bitter and bland (how, idk). The cake was...its hard to describe. A mix of stale, strong artificial flavor, and bitter. Ultimately I'll be getting a refund and will not likely return to try other items. read more

But the flavor is good and the meat is moist and tender. At the recommendation of both my aunt and the lady that took my order I got my sandwich on an Onion Roll. My first time I got the 6 oz. Regular Size sandwich and order of fries and a Medium Lemonade. Today, I skipped the fries which were dry and lukewarm and opted for the 9 oz Super size Corned Beef sandwich and a Large Lemonade. Be warned, the Lemonade is not fresh squeezed and it's very sweet but with a sandwich like this you have the full experience. I also added extra Swiss cheese because the day before it seemed to be lost although I saw it ... slightly.
