I only mention this problem because my orders with delis from other businesses always ended up not being sliced correctly which is frustrating. One time the man working said "shaved" wasn't an option on how I could have my order sliced. I told him that was how I always ordered. He again said he could not slice it that way. I pointed out that there is a sign on the front of the case with slicing options including shaved. Then he proceeded to slice it shaved as requested. This happened here once before when I ordered two pounds of ham shaved, was told ok, and then got home to see it was sliced thicker. I called the main customer service center about this and was told I could get a credit on my account for the next time. Unfortunately, the people working that day didn't know what I meant or where the credit went. Since then I always ask to see the first slice to avoid the same issue again. I HIGHLY recommend that for every order, they ask how we want it sliced, and then show us the first slice to verify it's correct. When I am spending $12 a pound on lunch meat I don't want to get home to see it was not sliced how I had requested. This would reduce issues and increase customer satisfaction. Otherwise, every shopping trip has been without any problem!!

I spoke this information to a very nice older lady who prepares the gift baskets here. Although she was busy doing other tasks, she walked me through the store and hand picked each item so the basket wouldn't be overly expensive but still have quality and eye appeal. She assured me that she would make the basket beautiful and that she did! When I came back a few days later to pick up the basket, I was blown away! She did an excellent job and add a few little extras that I wasn't expecting. My friend loved her basket! I forgot the kind lady's name and she wasn't there at pick up but I'd like to thank her for her excellent work.

As you pull into the parking lot, the place has a highly visible yellow sign that writes "kagopa" in Korean. In a very ugly Korean writing.... I don't mean to knock, but it looks like it was written by a child, and maybe it was! I can't think of a reason why a grown up shop owner would choose to use an ugly writing unless there's some sorta sentimental value behind it. Or maybe I'm overanalyzing it. Either way, it's ugly, but in a charming way. Inside is exactly like what a mom n pop Korean grocery would look like. Bunch of shelves with canned, bottled, packaged goods; freezers full of frozen goods, etc. I guess where they focus on is the "banchan" offerings--Korean side dishes. Every time I visit, more often than not the owners are out back, making banchan, rather than sitting at the front counter. I've been going back to try as many dishes they have as possible. Some have been decent, and some have been great. I haven't run into anything too bad. So far, everything they do with squid have been excellent. Owners/staff are nice and friendly. Like I said, they are usually in the back, making banchan, but when they're out, they're helpful. I've got a bottle of whole-napa kimchi in the fridge. I like my kimchi not too pickled, but the ol' lady likes them fully pickled. I tried a piece the other day and it was to my liking. I'll just have to ferment them a bit longer to see how it turns out.
