Here's the thing: Market Square is an ecosystem. It's a living, breathing entity that takes you in and pushes you through its intestines until you come out with $7 strawberries. They play excellent music at this location; Steely Dan was piping through the speakers during my last visit, which cemented my 5-star review within seconds. But I've been visiting this corner of the intersection since the 1980s, when the property was a car wash owned by the Lossia family. And that was a long time ago. read more

Just a few blocks from us. Go often. Great meats, nice produce and many little things you can't easily find in larger markets.

Always wonderful produce and prepared foods Always pleasant and helpful staff My only place to shop! read more

Market Square - Great food, right from the market. Kyle gave me a hard time at the checkout. For that automatic 2 star. - Grocery Near Me - West Bloomfield, Michigan

Market Square is the BEST! I'm so excited about their Birmingham location-- This family-owned local grocery market is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with genuinely friendly, attentive customer service that makes you feel like a regular--even on your first visit. The store is always spotless, well-organized, and a pleasure to shop in. They strike the perfect balance between carrying unique, hard-to-find products and all the everyday household staples you need. And don't even get me started on the prepared foods and desserts--they are hands-down some of the most delicious you'll find anywhere, made fresh and full of flavor. It's clear how much care and pride goes into every detail here. Supporting this local market is easy when the quality, service, and experience are this outstanding. Welcome to your favorite new market--Highly recommend! read more

Goran at the Deli/Catering Counter was incredibly helpful with a catering order that had lots of specific details. He was extremely accommodating, flexible, and patient throughout the process, making sure everything was just right. I highly recommend Market Square for catering and take-out needs especially if you get the chance to work with Goran! read more

Cute little store at Inkster and Walnut Lake Road, perfect spot to pick up a few items for a pool party that we were headed to. I picked up a big continued of redskin potato, that was the most expensive item in my bag at $12.61, keep that in mind and let that sink in for a second. I also grabbed a pound container of tabouli and a large container of their cole slaw. I didn't find any of the prepared sides to be special, just very average and somewhat vanilla. I did like that they had a good variety of GF cookies for me. They also had a western turkey burger and a chicken burger, found them to be bland too. The store looks appealing and welcoming but I can't say I was impressed by anything made in house. Frankly I was glad I didn't end up buying more of the prepared foods, I would have been more disappointed and felt I wasted too much money and was ripped off even more so than I already felt when I left. read more

Always love their delicious pizza that they make fresh. We get it a lot from here for workers. I usually do not like cheese a lot, but for some reason theirs tastes so rich and fresh. They do not go heavy on the sauce. They are generous with toppings. We get pepperoni a lot to keep it simple, and the slices are loaded with them. The large pizza box is $11 something and comes with 8 large slices of pizza. My sister calls it New York style pizza, with the thinner bread and crust. The workers are always kind to us. We come in with dirt on our clothes and body, abd get treated with respect. We never get dirty looks from anyone, and they even offer us plates or napkins sometimes. My sister got chips and salsa as well, and the salsa was super fresh. The chips were delicious. They have a lot of fresh food optipns. Super clean and friendly store. read more

I live near this store and have been shopping there since 1984 (going on 40 years now). It is in a convenient location, the quality of the fresh produce, meats, seafood, prepared foods, salads and sandwiches is outstanding. They have catered our holiday and family parties over the years and the food is never disappointing. Yes, you will pay more but in return you get in and out in a dash and the employees are always helpful. If Toma is in the store, he can help you with anything, one of the best there. read more

Since my last review, the family has gone vegan and this is still our number one pizza place! We have learned, so far in this 6 months of vegan living, that food quality really shines through when cheese cannot be used to hide anything! Everything here, crust, toppings, sauce, is tops! We don't even miss the cheese! read more

My favorite local neighborhood grocery store. Good quality produce and meats/seafood. Also, outstanding wine and liquor selections.

Good meats. They don't have prime meats, only choice. But the quality is good. Great selection of wines. Good food.

I Had The Worst Interview Experience For A Job In My Life At This Place Today! I Was Scheduled For A 1pm Interview After The Company Got My Resume Through Indeed. They Set Up The Interview; I Go, And After Speaking Too An Assistant Produce Manager And 3 Managers (Cashier Female Manager, Male Produce Manager, And An Older Male Manager) NOTHING! They had no idea who I was why I was there, plus they weren't even hiring for the position that I was sent there to interview for! LIKE UNREAL NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS IN MY LIFE! They spent 25 mins trying to track down the owner who was on the property but didn't have the time to help them figure out who I was and why I was there! I spent 30mins at this Market Looking Stupid In The Middle Of The Aisle, and wasted an hour of my life commuting & waiting! This was the most unprofessional thing I've ever experienced when looking for a job. I never write bad reviews but I had too because I was that pissed off! The Market Is Really Nice Though. read more

Thank you, Market Square, for making our Easter Weekend a success! We will have the traditional dinner with all the fixings because on Thursday, we emailed you with our list. This morning you called with some substitution approvals and an hour later, we pulled up and your staff was donned with masks, gloves and loaded our car with groceries! We can't thank you enough for the wonderful service and delicious food you provide for our community! read more

I came here with a friend to pick up some last-minute supplies for her brother's and father's birthday party. Definitely expensive, but that should come as no surprise in West Bloomfield. Great quality and a diverse selection of products. I was tempted to do some personal shopping, but had to restrain myself. For just under $40, we bought candles for the cake, soda, ice cream, and a one or two other odds and ends. The layout is a bit haphazard, but for a tiny local market, it does the trick. read more

Two stars for the pizza though. Don't drive here for the pizza if you are expecting it to be anywhere near a good NY style pizza. It's not even close to an average NY style pizza except in looks. Everything else about the store is top notch however. Great deli section, great cuts of meat, and a decent craft beer section. Just make sure you check those dates on the IPA's! read more

Great neighborhood spot- convenient for picking up quick items instead of going to a bigger chain store, also nice to stop there before going to a gathering for quick appetizers or desserts or wine. Also awesome prepared foods- the Amish rotisserie chicken is best in town! read more

This is one of my favorite markets to shop at! It's always so beautiful, the produce is always fresh and the prepared food are simply divine! read more

Literally the best market in this area. Everyone who works there is great. You can always depend on the quality of the food. They have their own kitchen and make everything fresh every morning. The broasted chicken is amazing. The tortilla soup is the best but it's not often they make it. If you need to find booze, this is your jam! read more

Not happy. Sold out of prepared holiday turkeys. Second year in a row. Ten days out

Well I used to love this place but we went here for food for the superbowl. When we got home, the shrimp was very fishy (not yet rancid but fishy). The layout of the store leads you to believe it is a fresh market, but unfortunately you have to go to whole foods for that which is a shame. read more

Love this place! It's great to run in there when you need something quick! The chicken salad is the best! Can't beat their rotisserie chicken, but almost better is the rotisserie turkey breast! They dont have as many turkey breasts but if you call earlier in the day they will save one for you! If you really want something special for dinner, their teriyaki salmon is as good as any fine restaurant! Their sides are outstanding too!! read more

There's only one reason I go to Market Square... the prepared foods. Sure I've stopped in to grab a few groceries a handful of times, but I still went for the prepared foods. They have really good low fat/fat free tuna and chicken salads. They have good kabobs. They have all sorts of other items, pastas, chicken, fish, meatballs, etc. It's easy, convenient, and good food. If the cost didn't add up, I'd shop there more often. I haven't tried everything, nor do I like everything I've tried, but there are definitely items that keep me coming back. read more

Pricey but very nice location for where I was staying at in West Bloomfield. They no longer sell the good Kombucha which is tragic, but other than that they have basic needs and premade lunches available for purchase. They also have a wall of liquor which is amazing when you run out of booze and can only walk to the store... read more

I actually really love this market. It's a perfect balance between gourmet and good prices. They have a variety of already made foods that are cooked and even uncooked. They have a great deli and raw meat and fish department. They also have a great wine selection. In fact I can find everything that I need at this market even stuff for my children without spending top dollar. The people are all friendly. I frequently buy the raw chicken scaloppine I think it's 5.99 per pound, it's already trim and thin. The burgers and stuffed burgers are great too. Bonus, it easy to get to and easy to park, and they unload the card for you. My new regular market. read more

This is the only place that makes grocery shopping enjoyable! Kroger/Whole Foods are such a painful, time consuming experience but Market Square is so fresh, convenient, and reliable that I dread grocery shopping anywhere else. Awesome pizza too! read more

Love it! I wish they had more convenience items like OTC meds, besides that this place is very nice. I love their grocery selection and their deli department. It's a nice neighborhood small grocer that carries quality and organic items. Some of my favorite things their are the superfood salad mix and the chicken salad, but mostly the salad, that stuff's delicious. read more

I am constantly happy with my Market Square purchases. The staff is extremely friendly and ready to help with any questions I may have. The pre-made selection is fantastic (as another reviewer mentioned). Another favorite feature of Market Square is that I never have to check through the fruits and vegetables as I may have to at other local markets to make sure what I am buying is fresh. Overall, a good experience and I recommend this grocery store. read more

Ridiculously overpriced, but god damn it's convenient. I haven't had any personal experience with buying expired foods like others have mentioned (although my mother in law did). It's definitely nice to have a market within walking distance, but I can never get out for less than $40, even if it's just a few things. The prepared foods are pretty good - quick dinner! read more

This is a great grocery store! The staff is so friendly and they stay on top of keeping fresh produce daily. They always have what I want and they seem like they are open all the time. If they did a better job keeping an eye on the expiration dates of frozen and dairy foods, I'd give them a 5. Too often I find expired frozen foods (especially low turnover items) and occasionally dairy products like yogurt. read more

Great people to deal with, and great food at a good price. I go there almost everyday and I see a lot of people from the neighborhood.

great local market with an awesome wine selection. the prepared foods department always have great selections. their garden fresh salsa is the best salsa I've ever had! it's worth going just for their salsa. read more

Market Square is a lovely little market in West Bloomfield. This store is less than a half mile from home, so I find it very convenient. The store is beautiful, clean and friendly. The staff are awesome, and they will help you with wine selections, carrying bags, or deciding what to eat! The tuna salad from their deli is awesome, and so is the chicken salad. They sometimes have a bowtie pasta salad with spinach, pine nuts and parmesan that is simple but divine. All of their sandwiches are tasty and fresh also. Wonderful cheese selection, as well as a huge array of crackers, fresh breads, olives and more. I have never stopped in and not found some version of what I needed, This is not the place to go if you are seeking a discounted grocery shop, they tend to stock the higher end of everything. I think this is a great neighborhood market, and they seem to always be improving. I give them credit for being aware of food trends, and staying up on them. Give them a try! read more

my husband and I loved going here. It is a nice sized market and everything seemed very fresh (at first) We always liked everything we had here and the prices didnt seem outrageous like Whole Foods or Plum. Services is pretty decent as well until the day of the superbowl. I would expect all the food to be extremely fresh the day of the superbowl since they probably had to make even more than what they usually do. I'm pregnant and had a craving for shrimp quesadillas. We stopped by the market to do a little shopping for the game and I bought some pre cooked shrimp from the fresh seafood section. I was also trying to find soft tortillas to make the quesadillas with but every single brand they had had Partially hydrogenated soybean oil in it. That's a no no in our diets, so i ended up finding some lavash wraps that didnt have this ingredient however, its really not the same as using a flour tortilla. Anyway, on to the reason for the poor review. We got home (after a 20 minute trek through the snow just to go to this market) and realized the shrimp was way passed its prime! it was not fresh in the least and smelled horribly and I tried a small taste and it was awful. I couldnt make my quesadillas, therefore I had absolutely no food for the game at all and being pregnant didnt make this much better. Afterall, the little bugger needs nutrition. If I had actually eaten that shrimp it could have had serious adverse effects. I called the market and explained to the manager or owner that the shrimp I just paid $10 for was rancid and he apologized and told me he would reimburse me for it, however, that doesnt really do much for me. He said if he known the shrimp was bad, he would never have 'let' his employee sell it. well, I find that unacceptable, because anyone who works with food should know when something has turned rancid or is passed its prime. You shouldnt need to rely on the owner to tell you when shrimp is bad. Anyway, I ended up eating chips for dinner. the baby wasnt happy. read more

Life saver at lunch time. They have great pre-made meals..
