I am obsessed with the logo for this place. It's so clever! Don't be fooled, this coffee truck is located in the back of a parking lot. In the mornings when none of the other trucks are open, it looks abandoned, but don't worry, they are open. There is a walk up window on one side and a drive through window on the other. The service is very nice. Coffees are average price- I got two Haleakala lattes for $15. Which is an iced Carmel latte. It was very good. I stopped by here 2 days ago for my morning coffee. Whenever I go on vacation I try to hit up a new coffee shop every morning and on this day I ended up heading over to Kraken Coffee. This particular location is a truck in the food truck area of Kihei Marketplace and has both a walk up window and a drive thru. On the morning I was there, two people were working, one on each side. After looking over the menu I decided on a Haleakalatte and chose to get it hot. The menu described it as a deep rich caramel latte. As I watched the barista make my drink, I noticed it was going into a plastic cup, which meant iced. It ended up coming out as a large iced coffee. Since it wasn't a big deal, I took it and went on my way. The coffee itself ended up being pretty good. The caramel flavor was on the lighter side, adding some sweetness without overpowering the coffee. The coffee itself was rich and came through nicely. I also liked that they used coffee ice cubes, which helped prevent the drink from getting watered down as the ice melted. If anything, it added a slight bitterness, which I didn't mind. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While I would have preferred the hot latte I ordered, the iced version worked out just fine and was still enjoyable. read more

There are several locations of Kraken Coffee in Maui. There's 1 in Kahului Airport, 1 in the Kihei downtown and also in the Wailea Gateway. We tried the Kihei location, behind the South Maui Gardens. Ordered Kihei kicker their most popular drink. It's pretty average in my opinion, nothing that really stands out. It's not something unforgettable. I had better solid iced coffee and sadly this is not it. Service is quick and the barista is friendly. Overpriced! We're in Hawaii, that's expected. I think it's the hype, because people really do come here. There are about 3 customers before us. read more

We had a cup of coffee twice a day for our entire vacation and this place was definitely our favorite. Pretty sure they were food trucks but they made it a drive through which was nice. The wait was not too long but the coffee was worth it. We made no modifications but I would probably ask for light ice next time. The staff were nice and the cups were a pretty good size. Needed a little pick me up this morning & kraken coffee did just that! I got their dirty kraken chai- it was sooo good & the drink actually stayed hot/warm for 2hrs which was amazing! Honestly I didn't know much about what to expect. It was a food truck serving coffee in a lot in Maui. I wanted coffee and stumbled on it. I noticed it had 'locals' but it just opened- turns out it was a second branch. The inside of the store was nonexistent, There are no seats. The truck is just a drive through, and I walked up to the window. Server was friendly and the shop serves 1 at a time. They have adjustable nitrogen cold brew! Tons of flavors to choose from like mac nut, hazelnut. I ended up getting the irish cream flavor and it was AMAZING. Good sweetness, good creaminess, nothing bad at all about it. We stopped by Kraken Coffee in Maui and went through the drive-thru for a quick caffeine fix. I tried the Macadamia Nut Sweet Foam Cold Brew while my partner got the Haleakalate. While both drinks were solid, I'd definitely recommend the Haleakalate over the macadamia nut unless you're a big fan of that flavor--it's quite rich. What really stood out, though, was the excellent service. The gentleman working the drive-thru window was super friendly and even offered us some great itinerary tips for the day.
