There are several locations of Kraken Coffee in Maui. There's 1 in Kahului Airport, 1 in the Kihei downtown and also in the Wailea Gateway. We tried the Kihei location, behind the South Maui Gardens. Ordered Kihei kicker their most popular drink. It's pretty average in my opinion, nothing that really stands out. It's not something unforgettable. I had better solid iced coffee and sadly this is not it. Service is quick and the barista is friendly. Overpriced! We're in Hawaii, that's expected. I think it's the hype, because people really do come here. There are about 3 customers before us.

Kracken is conveniently located off South Kihei Road by the Happy Belly and Fruit Ice Cream food trucks. Kracken has a walk-up window and a drive thru. Our go to is their iced coffee with coffee ice cubes. They have some specialty drinks, frappes, smoothies, and cold brews. They also serve breakfast quesadillas, pastries and snacks. We like their coffee and service. Be sure to get a punch card.

Needed a little pick me up this morning & kraken coffee did just that! I got their dirty kraken chai- it was sooo good & the drink actually stayed hot/warm for 2hrs which was amazing! They make the drinks right when you order/pull in. The workers are very friendly & work efficiently. I highly recommend & all their drinks have a lil fun pun to it!

The service was fantastic! Not the best coffee I've had but it was convenient and consistent.

We were visiting Maui for the week and had Kraken 4 times. It was a part of our morning walk! Delicious beverages and delightful service.

We had a cup of coffee twice a day for our entire vacation and this place was definitely our favorite. Pretty sure they were food trucks but they made it a drive through which was nice. The wait was not too long but the coffee was worth it. We made no modifications but I would probably ask for light ice next time. The staff were nice and the cups were a pretty good size. Definitely recommend!

Still my favorite coffee place when visiting Maui. I typically like thicker coffee with more cream, so the Kihei Kicker is always my go to. Don't forget to ask for coffee ice cubes to retain the flavor as it melts. This walk up/drive thru didn't exist the last time I came 4 years ago. Came here twice during my trip, and the first crew I encountered seemed like they didn't want to be there.

New location! Same amazing coffee. Kraken coffee is the only coffee spot my husband and I loved so much we had it twice during our trip (we usually opt to try new places). Look for the truck and it's the same concept of drive through! Friendly service too. We love the mocha wao (get it half sweet) and Kihei kicker (made with irish creme & half n half). Note, this location doesn't really have seating like the other location so it's truly a to-go spot!

I thoroughly enjoyed this iced coffee. They offer coffee ice so your drink doesn't get watered down. It's quite rich which is my vibe and it's not overly sweet 10/10.

Easily the best coffee we had on Maui--and we tried more than a few spots. I'm a hot latte drinker, and the Haleakalatte here was so good I could've had it every morning. Rich, smooth, just the right sweetness. The crew at the truck was friendly and fast, and the vibe was laid-back and local. If you're in Kihei, skip the chains and make this your go-to coffee stop.

Kraken Coffee has multiple locations, mostly food trucks, and they're fantastic! We tried the regular latte and a kihei kicker, and both were absolutely delicious. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

I ordered the white lavender, honestly, if I could drink this every day I would. The service was also amazing!

I was already doing the math and thinking , "Eh, we might be here awhile." But nah, good timing. People were finishing up, bussing tables, and bam, maybe 20-30 minutes tops. Not bad at all. While we was waiting, they come out with waffle samples for everyone in line. I mean... who does that? That's how you keep people from getting all hangry. Instant good vibes, the whole line outside was just smiling and waiting patiently. Finally get seated and both the hostess and waitress were super nice--real friendly, no rush, no attitude. In the front they had mushroom soup on the specials board, so we figured we go sample um. I had them bring a cup of soup out to start along with my wife's coffee. Gotta be honest--when I dipped my spoon in, I was already judging. Looked kinda thin, not creamy like other mushroom soups I've had. I was thinking, "Ahh here we go." Took one spoonful and immediately had to humble myself. That soup was money. Like, stop-talking-and-just-eat. My wife tried it and confirmed that this soup was "winnahs" . Deep mushroom flavor with the right amount of seasoning. It also came with a little piece of focaccia toast which I would have really enjoyed but had to take my wife's word for it since she ate um all . Should've ordered the bowl. Rookie mistake. For my main, I went with the original eggs Benedict. Portions were a little on the small side, but with the roasted potatoes, I was good. Didn't leave hungry, didn't need to loosen the belt--perfect middle ground. My wife got the strawberry waffles and yeah... those were legit. She's not a syrup person, so she asked for more whipped cream. The waitress comes back with a little mountain of whipped cream in the little silver ramekin. All in all, solid spot. Friendly people, ono food, and little touches that make you feel taken care of. We will be heading to Cafe Kaila again to try some other stuff like the "chicken and waffles", and next time, I'm not playing around with the soup. Bowl, Garans.

You can tell they put real care into what they serve, and it shows in every sip. We ordered two lattes, one with brown sugar and one with vanilla, and both were amazing. The flavors were balanced, not overly sweet, and complemented the quality of the espresso perfectly. We also shared a cheese danish that my husband absolutely loved. He said it was one of the best he has ever had, and I have to agree -- buttery, flaky, and so fresh. The shop itself has such a fun, cozy vibe. There's even a swing inside, which adds such a unique and playful touch. It's the kind of place you actually want to hang out in, not just grab a coffee and go. Service was excellent. The barista was super friendly and even made the cutest latte art, which totally made my day. I ordered a 12 oz and loved that it came in a mug, while my husband got a 16 oz to-go. My only wish is that they would offer mugs for the larger sizes too. It would be a nice way to cut down on paper and plastic and make the experience even better. Overall, Akamai Coffee is a gem. Between the amazing drinks, delicious pastries, welcoming atmosphere, and thoughtful service, it's the kind of place you'll want to visit again and again. Then, on the second visit, the server told me that I can get the hot chocolate seasonal flavor as a coffee and make it less sweet - i did that. Both very yummy drinks. On the sweeter side. I did not feel the caffeine as much as I did with Early Bird. I love that they offer drive-thru, though, which was super clutch and the reason for our multiple visits. I tried to go to their Kihei Plaza location, but couldn't figure out how to get to the drive-thru, haha! I really like that I can select from the old world German Artisan collection and the Hawaiian Artisan baked goods. I snagged the Isabelle, a loaf of bread made of spelt (dinkel wheat, high in protein, fiber, and antioxidants) and rolled in an assortment of seeds. The texture is soft and the crust is slightly chewy. Just right and the taste is very satisfying. I can't bring myself to putting a slice into the toaster, though, because I don't want to risk losing any of the seeds. I'll be fine with the broiler and some butter. I also went for the Hawaiian Bread. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. It has pineapple, toasted coconut and tiny soft raisins. The bread is moist from the pineapple juice and the loaves are small. I could finish one off in a setting but I resisted the urge. Basically they cut the croissant in half, filled in the cream and put the top back. Odd. Better between the two. Might be too sweet for some. Prices are higher than other places.
