Let me preface that we have tried the "running dish" before KPOT took over ownership. We recently visited the new AYCE KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot in sterling. They're currently (11/22/25) in transition in taking over the "running dish" restaurant. The AYCE concepts are very similar with KPOT eliminating the sushi option that running dish used to offer but keeping the Hot Pot option. Yes, we're sad to see the sushi option disappear but we're thrilled with KPOT's quality. Every table has a gas griddle insert where you cook your own meats to your liking and individual hot plates where your individual pot of soup is set. Every table is also given an Ipad to choose your food selections which you send to the kitchen for staff to bring out to you. It's actually rather impressive that the foods you order come out incredibly quickly. I'm not exaggerating, no more than 2-3 minutes after the order it placed, the food arrives at your table. The meat options are greater than running dish used to offer and the quality really stands out. The bone-in short ribs are excellent quality. Very nicely marbled, seasoned perfectly with a very clean and delicious beefy flavor. We also really enjoy the bulgogi which is thin slices of lean beef marinated in a sweet seasoning. There's a hot bar that offers unlimited hot seasoned snow crab legs, and a spicy brothy seafood boil with crawfish, mussels and corn. Beside the hot bar is a cold bar with various Korean sauce options that accompany the meats you cook. We had a great experience and are looking forward to experiencing KPOT again. read more

The recently opened KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot is located in Sugarland Crossing, Sterling, where another all-you-can-eat BBQ and hot pot restaurant, Running Dish, used to be. This restaurant offers all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ and hot pot options. When we visited, they still displayed Running Dish signage outside, which caused some confusion. The interior resembles that of the previous venue, with large tables and booth seating throughout. The space is spacious and equipped with sauce stands and self-serve stations offering side dishes like pickled radish, shrimp tempura, onion rings, kimchi, desserts, and fruits. There is an extensive selection of hot pot ingredients and BBQ meats, which is impressive; however, some meats, such as garlic pork, were heavily sauced and had unusual flavors. Service was adequate but could be improved. Overall, the prices are pretty reasonable, especially considering the current rise in food costs. read more

I visited KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot in Sterling, VA and had a great experience overall. The employees were very nice and welcoming, and the décor was modern and inviting. This was my first time trying Korean BBQ, and there was so much to choose from on the menu. Our server kindly offered to cook the meats for us, but my daughter wanted to do the cooking herself, which made it fun and interactive. The meats were well seasoned and flavorful. I initially chose the spicy soup base, but it was a bit too spicy for me, so I switched to the mushroom soup base instead--and I'm glad I did. I added vermicelli, sweet potato, onion, corn, chicken, and bok choy, and it was delicious and comforting. The buffet bar was really nice. I enjoyed being able to make my own dipping sauces based on what I like. They also had fried shrimp on the bar--the shrimp were fried nicely, but they still had the full shell on them. I almost choked on a shell, which was a little concerning and honestly my only complaint so far. The steamed crabs were good, but I think they would be even better if there was a sauce or drawn butter available on the bar. The crawfish and corn were yummy, and the three free juices available at the buffet were a nice touch. Overall, I had a very good experience and will definitely be back. read more

Came to Kpot and the music was unbearably loud, we waited 45 mins for a table and it was right next to the speaker. When I said I didn't want a table next to the speaker, the host just said the speaker is pointing away from you so it is OK. I couldn't hear anything, maybe I am old but I didn't sign up to goto a loud concert. We even got moved to the back of the restaurant away from the speakers and it was still loud. I don't know if this is their every day, if so I won't be coming back. Running Dish was not this loud. I just wanted some Korean bbq. We opted for both the hotpot and grille. The food itself was pretty good and the service was good despite them being very busy. You order most items off of an ipad and they are delivered quickly to your table. They have a variety of meats, seafood and veggies for both the grill and hot pot. I would give them another chance if they did not have the music blaring on a different night. read more

I went to the newly opened, soft opening for KPOT in Sterling. This place is huge! I'd be interested to seeing it on a busy Friday or Saturday night. I hope the service doesn't suffer due to the size. My experience here was great! Some of the staff seemed new, which is to be expected but everyone I interacted with was friendly. I went during lunch and was able to pay for the dinner, which has more meat options. Get the spare ribs! So good! The food was great! Some of the dipping sauces missed the mark but overall everything was great! And the price for the amount of food is a steal! Such a good value! It's good for medium sized groups or solo dining. You can do the bbq or the hot pot or for $5 extra, get both. Great variety of meats and veggies and noodles and dumplings. They have a hot bar with various items. Most of them kid oriented. Fries, chicken nuggets and fried chicken wings. During dinner hours, they have crab legs and crayfish. All and all a great place! read more

Not allergy friendly. We asked for sesame oil from the back because the sesame oil was beside the peanut sauce but they said they couldn't accommodate our allergies. The food tasted bad without it and the meat was not tender. We all felt nauseous after. Our server was attentive which is why I gave the one star. Will not go back. read more

This was my second time in my life trying Korean BBQ, and it was great. Both service and food was excellent. Server was excellent to explain everything from what to order, how to cook, hot to mix it with other food items, etc. Great atmosphere. Great quality meat selection. the hostess was very quick to seat us on a Sunday night however, we waited for at least 5-7 minutes and no one had come to our table. We saw at least 3-4 servers walk past our table at least 6 times (cause i counted)- one even looked our way and .. nothing. We left shortly and my husband spoke to the hostess that we never got serviced. I believe it was one of the managers that spoke to my husband afterwards and said that it's only their 2nd day of opening. Typically I would understand if they were busy and short staffed, however, there were plenty of empty tables and with at least 3-4 servers walking around back and forth. I'm so upset by the experience we had here. I was going in with my baby and husband and we genuinely were so excited to eat and have Korean bbq again and usually we love Iron Age or honey pig but never had a bad experience at any other Korean bbq restaurant so we didn't think we'd finally come across a bad one. For starters the waiter honestly looked like he was high off something and not happy at all and honestly just seemed so out of it especially since we placed our order through the iPad and waited 10 minutes for the stuff to arrive but he came by and looked confused asking if we even sent the order in to the kitchen and after we said we did he then went to "check" and brought out the food almost immediately. Not a good look honestly. But I'll give him some benefit of the doubt that he got our drinks , answers our questions (since we didn't get a proper intro to the place on where to go and all that), checked up on us, and asked us if we wanted to replace our grill but eventually sooner than usual it started to just burn badly again. This place closes at 11:30pm and for some reason even though we came in to dine around 8:40pm the side bar was half empty and the portions were as if it was about to close and the food was so cold and the edges of half the serving Tupperware were crusty as if it had been sitting for a long time. There was no yum yum sauce which is crazy to me and the whole setup was so mid and the kimchi was way on the spicier side. The pickled radish was just unappetizing and gave off a seafood smell, and even when I tried to give it a shot I couldn't stomach the bite. And the desert bar variety was almost nonexistent. The meats were not tender at all and ended up being rubbery after cooking to medium rare even. We ended up feeling really nauseous half way through and couldn't stay any longer and I started to just feel really sick. We paid our tab and just left all the food untouched practically. Had a great time at the new K-Pot in Sterling, VA last Sunday. We met friends for BBQ at the former Running Dish location. We were very pleased with the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the staff. Our server, Bryan, was the best! He helped cook our first few items, changed the grill plate frequently, and recommended items we should try. The food was excellent, with lots of choices between the menu, the hot bar, and the cold bar. The owner came by later in the visit with a selection of ice cream cup flavors and friendly conversation. If I could give it a zero I would! Our waiter knew absolutely nothing on the food, service, or procedures. They have beer taps, but no beer!! We asked which soda they have and were told Coke, but it's Pepsi. The management and staff are a joke!! Our food arrived, but we had to wait 45 minutes for the Korean bar b q to be turned on and although we ordered 7 bowls on rice, we got them all one by one. Another waste of 20 minutes.
