The recently opened KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot is located in Sugarland Crossing, Sterling, where another all-you-can-eat BBQ and hot pot restaurant, Running Dish, used to be. This restaurant offers all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ and hot pot options. When we visited, they still displayed Running Dish signage outside, which caused some confusion. The interior resembles that of the previous venue, with large tables and booth seating throughout. The space is spacious and equipped with sauce stands and self-serve stations offering side dishes like pickled radish, shrimp tempura, onion rings, kimchi, desserts, and fruits. There is an extensive selection of hot pot ingredients and BBQ meats, which is impressive; however, some meats, such as garlic pork, were heavily sauced and had unusual flavors. Service was adequate but could be improved. Overall, the prices are pretty reasonable, especially considering the current rise in food costs.

I visited KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot in Sterling, VA and had a great experience overall. The employees were very nice and welcoming, and the décor was modern and inviting. This was my first time trying Korean BBQ, and there was so much to choose from on the menu. Our server kindly offered to cook the meats for us, but my daughter wanted to do the cooking herself, which made it fun and interactive. The meats were well seasoned and flavorful. I initially chose the spicy soup base, but it was a bit too spicy for me, so I switched to the mushroom soup base instead--and I'm glad I did. I added vermicelli, sweet potato, onion, corn, chicken, and bok choy, and it was delicious and comforting. The buffet bar was really nice. I enjoyed being able to make my own dipping sauces based on what I like. They also had fried shrimp on the bar--the shrimp were fried nicely, but they still had the full shell on them. I almost choked on a shell, which was a little concerning and honestly my only complaint so far. The steamed crabs were good, but I think they would be even better if there was a sauce or drawn butter available on the bar. The crawfish and corn were yummy, and the three free juices available at the buffet were a nice touch. Overall, I had a very good experience and will definitely be back.

The appetizer and dessert bar with all their sauces was so nice and had actually delicious options across the board. I love that they even had lychee in the dessert section! You can only choose two of the three all you can eat options: hot pot, sushi, and bbq. We picked bbq and sushi, and all of the bites were great! The bbq has all of the standard sides and meats that were so so yummy, especially the pork belly. The bbq items came out what felt like minutes after we came back with filled plates from the appetizer bar. Only thing we wish was different was that we got the sushi after the kbbq and we were pretty full by the time it came out. Otherwise everything was great from start to finish and can't wait to go back!

We were instantly greeted at the door and only had to wait about 5 minutes to get a table. From there, we decided to go for the triple combo of AYCE sushi, hot pot, and KBBQ. The best choice! We began by ordering sushi and items for our hot pot - all were incredibly fresh and tasty. I particularly loved the Szechuan broth - which I made sure to ask them to make vegetarian (be sure to ask beforehand as some broths are made with pork). From there, we fired up the grill with brisket, bulgogi, and, my favorite, the garlic shrimp! Everything was so juicy and paired perfectly with the sauce bar items we chose. I particularly loved the crab rangoons and kimchi as some fun sides! The restaurant is very spacious and is great for groups or eating with a friend. I appreciated how attentive and accommodating each server was. In my opinion, this is one of the best KBBQ spots in town! Definitely worth the visit.

Chiko is no exception. A Korean-Chinese fusion concept with bright yellow and black decor, a friendly and responsive wait staff and a unique menu that won't be found elsewhere, we're working our way through the variety of bowls, dumplings and entrees that all combine multiple sweet, sour, and spicy elements as a foundation for the dishes. We knew nothing about Korean food, moving here from Colorado where everything was with steak or burgers. (I'm exaggerating a bit). The diverse population of the area is clearly reflected in the number and variety of restaurants. If you're not familiar with Korean food this is a good place to start at reasonable prices. They have a liquor license we. Parking is ample.

The dining room isn't very big, and since we came for an early dinner, we had our pick and chose a four-top with a view. Well... the view was basically the Paris Baguette that's across the street. The general manager came by to take our order. To drink, I had a mocktail, "house-made lime cooler," which consists of "pureed Asian pear, lime juice, and Sichuan tea." I found it to be very refreshing. My husband had a Coors Light. For my entree, I chose "Soy glazed brisket" which consists of "2Fifty Texas BBQ brisket, soy brined soft egg, furitake butter, pickled peppers, steamed rice". I liked this entree. It was mildly spiced; the pieces of brisket were properly prepared; the pickled peppers added some heat; and the soy-brined soft egg was a nice touch. The egg was soft-boiled, and the egg yolk provided a nice flavor. My husband chose "JJayJangmeon" which consists of "shrimp, scallops, roasted black bean sauce, noodles". The dish is made with wheat noodles. It arrived hot and with a nice vegetable garnish on top. The greenness of the vegetables made a nice contrast to the dark brown sauce. That brown sauce was hot, mild, and thoroughly coated the dish's ingredients. It seemed a bit unusual to see a dish with shrimp and scallops coated in a mild black bean sauce, but it worked nicely. The shrimp arrived tail-less, and the scallops were soft and not rubbery, both properly prepared. I was glad not to have to fight with the shrimp tails. All in all, we were glad we made a return visit.
