I was so excited to try this place as it has so many good reviews. I should have left after the first red flag we saw. The customer before us was complaining because his credit card was charged with someone else's order because he started a tab and I think they didn't give him his card back. But we were driving for 3 hours and my kids were hungry. The bill was pretty hefty but if the food was good it would be worth it. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. I had the fried rice and the rice was hard to the point it was inedible because it was like chewing on a random rock in the middle of a bite of rice. The ginger was not good and the karrage chicken sauce was just shoyu. I went back to tell them about just the rice and the server just said "I'll check on the rice to make sure we don't do that again". Wow! I basically bought inedible food and they were like oh well. Please do yourself a favor and just drive down the road and get better food and customer service in Sandy. read more

Great food and loved the kimchi. We're vegan so it was nice to see a place with options for us and rolls that were not covered in cream cheese. Miso was okay with tofu pieces. read more

Tried Koya for the first time this evening. What a wonderful place! We had ramen with pork, shiitake, carrots, scallions and boiled egg, and udon soup with shrimp tempura -- both were deLICious! They had a terrific selection of beer and cocktails and sake. Outdoor seating is casual including picnic tables and hammocks and an open A-frame -- really cool with Japanese lanterns... inside is comfy and unique with lots of plants hung creatively throughout. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. A way-cool gift shop. We'll definitely be back! read more

Might as well give each customer a copy of your rule book. Power hungry bartenders and waitresses. Food was absolute dog water. Will never, ever come back. This place is for sheep. read more

Had the Gyoza, kids Udon, Philly, Salmon and Crunchy roll. The rolls are bigger than we're used to. Everything was great. Also took advantage of some happy hour pricing. Server was very sweet. Next time we come to Mt. Hood, we'll definitley be back. read more

This place is a gem. It's a great spot either headed up or down the mountain, and the staff is warm and friendly. Choices for quality food are limited between Sandy and Government Camp, so don't miss this one. read more

Great hole in the wall. Actually a small indoor bar/dining area with an amazing outdoor and indoor options to eat from this SOLID food truck menu. read more

The tuna poke special was SO good!! It was a beautiful day so we sat on the patio and also enjoyed the red curry, California rolls & Ramen. Sushi and hammocks anyone?! Everything was delicious and we were happy to find this little place open on a day when most restaurants are closed up here! The owner was super sweet too! read more

Koya Kitchen - Tuna poke special! Yum - Sushi Bars Near Me - Welches, Oregon

Not impressed by the food or the service or drama of that place and owner or being required to tip 18% for sub-par food from a food cart.

Great little spot! Food is super yummy! It's the perfect combo of Japanese comfort food. The ambiance is awesome- I love the reclaimed furniture and decor. It's the kind of place that is so cozy and cute that you just want to stay for a while and hang out. I recommend the sushi, rice dishes and ramen, but I bet everything is good! Free hot tea is a plus. read more

Outside earing area keeps growing and looking better and better each visit! Food is superb and cocktail menu is fun and fresh! Love this place read more

This place is so cute. Really good food. We ordered a tuna roll, a salmon roll, yaki soba, and ramen. The sushi and yaki soba were really good, but the ramen I wouldn't order again, pretty bland. The owner and the workers were so friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely come back next time I'm in the area. read more

We ordered 4 items off their menu and 3 out of 4 were completely inedible. The ramen and rice dish had 0 flavor despite having lots of ingredients. The sushi roll's salmon was not fresh. The only good item was the fried dumplings but I know they were bought frozen. Very disappointed read more

I really want to like this place. Unfortunately there food is inconsistent and one of the waitresses has frequently a not so nice tone with customers. read more

Such a great, fun, place to eat, drink, and relax in a magical setting!! Slurp noodles, drink beer, or special cocktails, unique daily specials, or sushi. The owner has put Covid Safety measures in place, so we felt really good eating and chilling outside.( There is a gas fire pit, too) Very unique setting, and good food! read more

Awesome! I got to thrown frisbees and drink ASAHI while I waited for my food. Once it arrived; I was blown away! Who would have thought that you could find great sushi on a mountain? I've decided to stop cooking From now on and am just going to eat from Koya Kitchen. read more

My husband and I saw good reviews for wabi sabi which was the former name of this place, so we thought we would try it out. The staff is very friendly and the place is very cute and comfortable. I got the ponzu avocado fried rice with chicken, it was very good but a bit too heavy on the sauce for my taste and very light on the meat and avocado. We also tried the spicy salmon roll which was excellent. My husband got the pork donburi bowl, it was pretty dang good but again too light on the meat for the cost. We would definitely go again and try some different dishes. read more

Nice staff! Legit food and cocktails. Awesome spot, would highly recommend to anybody

Delicious food . You order from a cart and then go inside to eat. The food is fresh and prepared beautifully. The service is also good.

Our favorite spot to eat in the hood. They are always carful of my gluten sensitivity, the sake is great and atmosphere is very comfortable. Fried rice with avocado ! read more

Eh. I live close by and eat out most meals. I have eaten at koya a number of times. I give the one star for a number of reasons. This place is very inconsistent and over priced with poor service. I have had some good drinks and okay food but you can never tell. The owner is full cray cray. She can't take criticism and goes full on attack. It's sooo sad. I want all businesses up here to succeed. I don't blame bars for having bar food but this place can be okay to horrible. I even tried to be reasonable with her when others told me she is a wack job. Hey I figure give everyone a shot. Omg she goes off on me for nothing. I never reviewed the poor experience at koya cause it's one more place and if they do anything good, like the atmosphere and beer and sake, then great but she is like if you aren't in love with me then F off. It's no surprise with all of her drama. Jolynne maybe it's time for some unity. Notice the owner's response. This is her attitude. She has no interest in being better. I read other reviews, she blames the crappy service on white supremacy. Dude get a grip on reality. I have read other negative reviews and she attacks them. Omg. The drama is yours. It is your business. read more

I will say right off the bat that the only reason for the 2 stars was because of wait. I understand good food takes awhile to make and the kitchen is based out of a food truck. But we got the tempura vegetables, miso ramen and yaki meshi and it took over 40 minutes for our order to come out. And the time before I ordered miso ramen and it took a significant amount of time then too. That being said, order ahead and the food is definitely good. I would give our meal 4 stars, the tempura vegetables were 4 stars only because the mushrooms were not fully done and still pretty raw. The location is awesome, when we did sit inside for awhile waiting for food the bar was mostly unattended as well. But would be a cute little spot for a date. read more

Holy shit this place is good. Awesome friendly people. Cool chill vibe .good music. Quiet. Lighting was relaxing. Clean. Worth the drive. I'll be back read more

I love Koya so much and have been a loyal visitor since they opened. The past couple times I have been though the ramen hasn't been as good. It really lacks flavor like it used to and is more bland. I will keep going to support them because everything else on the menu is fantastic, I just hope the owner and/or head chef improves the ramen flavor. read more

Just had a great time at Koya Kitchen the other day. This spot gave us vibes as if we were on vacation! What a great feeling! We ordered a Sake flight for starters and then committed to a glass of one of the flight selections. Our meal came and I was delighted by the looks of the poke bowl that I ordered. We also ordered a roll and some fried dumplings. Everything was delicious! Anytime I am passing through Welches, Koya Kitchen will now be a frequent stop! read more

Organic ramen is delicious, nice warm bowl of soup, just what we need on a cold mountain :).

Really disappointed. Sushi rolls had hard, almost crunchy rice, and they completely left the salmon out of my salmon roll (so I paid $$ for a rice and cucumber roll). Also all the dishes our group ordered that had meat had barely any (like you had to dig through to find the two tiny pieces of chicken). The tempura veggies went way to heavy on the batter - had to pick off really thick layers to even see if there was a vegetable inside. It also took a long time to get the food. The outdoor seating area did look neat but we spent 40 plus dollars for two people to eat takeout and really regretted it. I'd go elsewhere. read more

My favorite place to eat on or near Mt Hood. Food-cart with an attached indoor bar/eating area and a nice big outdoor seating area with tables and hammocks. Highly recommend the chicken avocado egg fried rice and their house (cold) saki! read more

A Portland style gem in the heart of Mt. Hood. Delicious, great ambience and friendly accommodating service. What more can you ask for?

Meh. Fried rice was underwhelming for $12. Kimchi and chili sauce would get them another star and help me feel the value. Good outside area, kids could run around. Cute inside. I might go back. Might not. read more

SOOOO freakin good. The food and vibe are super thoughtful. I'm happy there are so many meatless options, and the sign said there are more coming soon! Oh man. So stoked on this place! read more

We have been here a couple of times. The first time was very good, but the second time was sub par. Not only that, the workers do not tell you that if you pay by credit card, there is an extra 2% charge. read more

Stopped by while visiting Mt Hood. We stayed near by and we're craving some good Asian food. Pleasantly surprused by the rice dishes. We got the avacado friend rice, breaded chicken curry (special), and Salmon roll. The rice stuff were both great, the sushi was subpar. Nonetheless we enjoyed our experience and the Saki selection helped. read more

Amazing hidden gem. Great flavors with a variety of menu choices. Large beer and saki selection as well.

We stopped here after a day trip to the lake and were really excited because it is super cute! But it turned out to be very disappointing. We ordered our food at 8:05 and received at about 9:20 (after they closed) with barely any apology. They even gave us tofu ramen when we ordered chicken. They didn't bring us out drinks until we asked about three times. They claimed they were swamped but we were one of about four people there so they just don't know how to run a food cart. Also, the food was extremely over priced and extremely bland. Probably the worst ramen I've ever had read more
