We saw this place driving from Portland to Mt Hood so decided to stop in as it looked quaint and interesting. The service was not good at all and when we asked about some of the menu items after the wait, the staff was rude and seemed not to care. We almost left but were hungry so decided to stay and try the yaki noodles which were so creamy and we did not enjoy them. The soup was cold and The sushi did not taste fresh and there was a lot more rice and barely any fish. Overall, the place was terrible and we suggest staying away. If you want to find a great place with friendly staff and awesome food, head up the road towards Mt Hood about 5 min to al Forno Ferruzza. read more

The food was okay. The sushi tasted good but every piece looked different and was not consistent. The curry was fine but the rice was either old or dried out. The worst part was the iced tea that tasted like something out of the outhouse. It was horrific. I wouldn't go back. read more

After posting my review here and on FB my partner and I were harassed (and are being harassed still 4 days later) by the owner of this restaurant. At this point it's less about the food and more about not supporting a business owner who cannot take criticism and who lashes out with a furious temper at those who do not agree with her. I originally made my review because I was sick of constantly seeing them say they can make things work when my experience there was far from it- I know now I probably just had a bad server and they were out of everything that day and I should have just unfollowed their garbage FB page that was bothering me daily anyway. Please stop calling me a racist. Racist is saying you're just as dark as an Indian person just because you lived there, which the owner said to my partner in one of her random harassing messages and is screen captured in a photo below along with all of her other harassing messages. LEAVE US ALONE. Please! I have asked her numerous times to stop messaging us. I should have read the other reviews because now she has people threatening me with guns. Original review: Forewarning: I know this is not a vegan restaurant and doesn't advertise that it is- BUT they do say they have options to accommodate on Facebook. If you're vegan do not waste your time going here. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and a big menu but they try to be a traditional restaurant and do not have many vegan options. At the end I was stuck with two options and what I ordered wasn't even appetizing (yakiudon). I was really excited about this place because it's only a mile from my house but alas, it's really only good for the pitcher of saki mimosa. Cheers to a new year! read more

Unique, fried food was all dark possibly dirty old oil. Wish they did table service. Can't wait for summer to enjoy outside patio.

LOVE this place! So happy to see stellar pan-Asian cuisine in the Rhododendron area. So far I've only had an amazing spicy curry, crafted by the owner who apparently lived in India. Plus they have sushi and Filipino food. And an impressive selection of sakes. I wish they were around when I lived in the area before, but it will definitely be my go-to stop for food on the way up or down 26! read more

Amazing place. It has a beer and sake garden in the back and a truly laid back Pacific Northwest ambience. I got the yellowish poke bowl and it was amazing. The taki udon has scope for improve though. In any case we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be back for more! read more

A lot of people seem to think that this is a full restaurant. This is a food truck. The dining area is a beer garden. So they are only permitted by the county to serve food in takeaway containers. Koya Kitchen is a really high-end food truck as far as I'm concerned. I'm a local and a regular and I love the place. It has a great local vibe, and a lot of the people who live there, eat there. That's a testament to a great place if the locals frequent it. The places the locals ignore are the ones you need to watch out for. We're a picky bunch. It rates, as far as we are concerned as a family, as one of the better casual dining experiences on the mountain. The food is fresh, and the flavours are great. The owner mixes it up with specials spanning the pan-Asian menu. She'll delve into Indian curries and Thai flavours with a creative panache. She cares about her business and is eager to accommodate individual needs. It is not a vegan restaurant, and if you are vegan you can be very specific with your needs, and she will work with you using what she has. All in all, Koya is a great addition to our community. And she has been consistent with her quality and her products. She turned a little shack into a cool, neat little dining area, with a respectable array of drinks and beer offerings. So I highly recommend this little treasure to all. read more

Consistent great food and drink everytime, cost a few more $$ but also they have to get goods up the mountain so it makes sense why they charge more, try the pork belly ramen or yakisoba, always great calls and the drinks are good too read more

This place has an expanded outdoor eating area. An excellent way to deal with the Covid issue. They created a very nice atmosphere with lights strung all over. You can see this place right from the hwy. Plenty of space between tables, I felt safe eating here. It is essentially a food truck where you order at the window, get a buzzer when your food is ready. This is more of an Asian fusion place, we got the avacado rice, the presentation was beautiful but we didn't care for the flavor. The udon noodle dish was good, lots of toppings and heavy on the sauce. It seemed like a mexican asian flavor to me. My son got the ramen, we felt it was the most asian dish we got, I thought the flavor was good. The wait was a bit long for the food, but we didnt mind, it was a nice place to sit and relax. read more

First time visiting mt. Hood and stopped by this place because it looked super cute outside! Outdoor seating is really cute and separated way more than 6 feet so felt super safe. The food was so good the first time we went back later for dinner. We tried to avocado fried rice, salmon roll, soba noodles and tuna poke all were fantastic and had lots of flavor. Also tried a sake flight and usually don't like sake but it was delicious. Everyone is very friendly as well. read more

Such a great find! Loved the atmosphere, music and how dog friendly it was. The food was to die for. My boyfriend ordered the spicy tuna roll and the shrimp tempura roll and I got the spicy tuna poke bowl with extra tuna and cucumber. It was soooooo good that we decided to order more food to go. We got the Ramen with pork and miso broth and yet again we were pleasantly surprised. We will definitely be back and plan on relaxing in their hammocks next time read more

The food was a little salty but overall it was delicious! The major downside of my experience was that we had to wait an hour and a half for our food. I assume the restaurant was short staffed, but they should have at least warned us about the wait when they took our order. read more

The ramen here was TERRIBLE. Id rather eat instant ramen for the rest of my life. So gross we couldn't even finish our food. I don't know who was making the ramen but damn, someone has to tell them. Please change that recipe for the love of god. read more

I would have given a 4-5 star review as the food was really good (Karaage, Fried Rice, Indian Curry) but in our TO GO bag they sandwiched our green tea cheesecake (cool/cold) box in between the two hot entree boxes so it was a warm goopy mess when we got back to our room. While it may seem minor, the minimal common sense required to separate or layer hot and cold items is requisite - basic thought. Yay food, boo bagging skills. read more

I heard this place was ok so I thought I would try. Got the California sushi roll. It was nothing special and the crab wasn't fresh. I grew up on the coast so I definitely know fresh crab. This wasn't it. It wasn't awful but it wasn't any better than Fred Meyer. Something else that bothered me is that they use paper plates and just throw them away. If you're gonna have an indoor area and you're trying to be a restaurant not a food cart then you should get some real plates. I think it's wasteful. Not hard to wash a few plates and silverware. Kinda weird place but that's what they're trying for I guess. Everyone has they're thing. This wasn't mine. read more

We were told it would be 45 minutes for our food and it turned out to be 1.5 hours- on a Wednesday night. We ran out of time for this meal and had to take the food to go after complaining twice. It's just a food truck that is trying to service a large outdoor seating area. Memo: you need to have a bigger kitchen if you are going to seat unlimited number of people. Never again. read more

I didn't enjoy my experience. Very rude individual running the place. Ramen was uninspired. The food was mediocre and bland. Would not recommend. Edit Side note: I have reposted my review due to it being removed for reasons that didn't make sense. I am not being a terrorist. I had a bad experience and I left a review in accordance. I do NOT regularly leave bad reviews but your behavior was unacceptable as anyone can see by your vicious feedback. read more

Another Highway 26 business doing it right for coronavirus service. I had the Yaki soba with tofu which was as good a noodle bowl as I've had. The back garden waiting area was very nice but a little loud due to close proximity to the road. Loses one star because they have never (for me at least) answered their phone to take a to go order. I don't know why they don't answer the phone but it's not too bad ordering at the little trailer then relaxing for a minute. Four stars. read more

I love Koya and really appreciate all they have done to help us all stay well fed as well as safe during the pandemic. Huge family favorite is the chicken karage. The breading is not too much and the amazing/slightly tangy dipping sauce pairs perfectly. Pork yaki soba is also super tasty. And with Koya (if you can resist the temptation to over do it) there are always leftovers for the next day. Be sure to stop in! read more

Really cute place - fun outdoor area. Food was okay. If you like food truck food this is your spot. Overheard the woman next to me say her ramen was like a glorified top ramen. I had the donburi bowl - without the egg - it was okay. I'm vegan but there was fish sauce - you'll have to tell them if you don't want it. I wouldn't call it the healthiest bowl I've had - really greasy and salty. It was kind of college level cooking. But there's an extensive beer menu and a fun atmosphere. I'm glad I came. But probably wouldn't go back. read more

This place is great. Loving the environment they created both inside and out. The outdoor space is huge. Plenty of seating, a kid-sized picnic table too, with a few hammocks as well. The music totally fits the atmosphere as well. The amount of effort and thought they put into this place is evident and appreciated. Really excited about the menu options and the depth of their bar. It's a really nice switch up from the standard fare. read more

We live right around the corner and we love this place. We have watched the owner struggle with "growing pains" and finding help but that is a good thing...it means she is successful. NO matter who is working they have always been sweet and humble, always letting one know they are appreciated. Leave it to the locals to sing the praises of KOYAS....after all we have the history behind us with them....and do not base our ratings on ONE RANDOM time in after skiing. Sandy read more

What a wonderful experience! My husband and I enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. The food was very delicious(and fairly cheap as well..) But the atmosphere is why I'd go back. It is so cute and eclectic in there with all the succulents and light fixtures. Would definitely eat here again read more

I ordered the Miso Soup and Chicken Coconut Curry and upon ordering confirmed that everything was gluten free. When I picked up the curry plate, it had naan bread on the rice. Luckily I asked again whether the Naan bread was gluten free and the same person taking my order swapped his response and now said "no". In addition to this, the curry was super watery and the portion sizes were TINY. The only reason I'm not giving this place 1 star is because of the dining environment. The seating area is awesome. The food doesn't deliver. read more

We've driven by this place many times on our way up to the mountains and have always wanted to try it...we went for the first time and it was a major disappointment. The food was not authentic Japanese and was not good - it also included a hair in two of our dishes. The server was nice enough to refund us for the two dishes which we appreciated, however, we were a party of 5 and they would not accommodate us inside when all they had was a party of 2 sitting inside. This party was sitting at a large table that could have accommodated us when they could have sat them at a two top that was empty. Needless to say we will not be going back. read more

I enjoyed this restaurant. We had a coconut shrimp appetizer and it was perfectly fried with the accompanying sauce stealing the spotlight. The sushi was amazing. The view wonderful. The udon soup was delicious. We didn't like the fried veggies/shrimp that went into the soup, but were just weren't expecting the texture. Our only complaint was sticky tables but the food was so good we forgot about it. read more

Amazing food and great outdoor atmosphere. We stop every year on our Thanksgiving vacation.

My family had dinner at this cute restaurant twice during our stay at a timeshare nearby. The food here is delicious with really big portions. The price is very reasonable for the amount of food that we got. During my first visit, I had the kimchi fried rice and I had leftover for breakfast the next day. The second time I had the ramen and it was filled to the brim with plenty of noodle, meat, and veggies. Where I live, ramen restaurants usually give you bare bone amount of food and then charge additional you for all the extra stuff so I was happy that they were not stingy with what they gave you. The service that we received on both days was good. read more

One star for ambiance and okay food. But we waited for more than an hour and half. They never told us there'd be a wait time, apologized, thanked us for waiting, or otherwise. I don't wait that long at high end french places for phenomenal food. This just ended up feeling like a waste of time and money. read more

I've been here twice. I will try it again because Its new and it deserves a few chances. Cons: over priced, bland, seating is uncomfortable, and atmosphere is set up to be rustic and zen, but due to clicky local vibe it kinda feels like you are walking into a privet party uninvited. Pros: free hot tea, lighting, decor, can't go too wrong with noodles, new addition to the types of food choices up here, and you can tell owner is passionate and is working really hard. read more

This place is amazing! the atmosphere is dreamy (and super safe outdoors in the era of COVID!) and the food is super fresh. lots locally grown. amazing cocktails. Owned and operated by good humans. I was so excited to try this place as it has so many good reviews. I should have left after the first red flag we saw. The customer before us was complaining because his credit card was charged with someone else's order because he started a tab and I think they didn't give him his card back. But we were driving for 3 hours and my kids were hungry. The bill was pretty hefty but if the food was good it would be worth it. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. I had the fried rice and the rice was hard to the point it was inedible because it was like chewing on a random rock in the middle of a bite of rice. The ginger was not good and the karrage chicken sauce was just shoyu. I went back to tell them about just the rice and the server just said "I'll check on the rice to make sure we don't do that again". Wow! I basically bought inedible food and they were like oh well. Please do yourself a favor and just drive down the road and get better food and customer service in Sandy. read more
