We all ordered ramen, but it was disappointing. The soup was excessively salty, and the noodles were cut into tiny one-inch pieces, making it feel like a more upscale version of instant ramen. Frankly, I would rather have instant ramen. Awful! At 7 PM, right as they opened, the first thing they informed us was that we had one hour to finish eating, even though there was no line and the restaurant was absolutely empty. The modern minimalist interior was soothing though watching one waiter serve the whole restaurant and seat people was not. We ordered the chicken age first, which was delicious. The gyoza was next; it was good but different from gyoza in Hawaii. This gyoza was pure pork--nothing else was in it! The ramen was also good though it had too many greens in it for my taste. Been for dinner on a summer night, the place is nice and simple, offers a good menu and there is a Japanese chef, which is a bit of a rarity recently in Italy as most of the alleged Japanese restaurants are run by Chinese instead. Prices are a tad expensive for what Ramen is, but I guess it's ok as Japanese food tends to fetch higher prices. Food was good, I'd say that it sits in the "middle" if we compare it to a real Japanese ramen store, bu again I was impressed given the average Italian level. read more

For Asian food in Italy, this place is good. I don't like to eat Asian food in Florence, but Koto is pretty good. You'll pay the same price here as you will at a good restaurant, but there aren't really any other options for ramen. Pint of View has a ramen dish. Don't know if I'll go back, but I don't regret my meal here. read more

They have really good ramen!!! It was a surprise to have randomly walked into a great ramen shop in Florence. I tried the vegetable cold ramen which was surprisingly very good and the shoyu ramen was amazing as well. The noodle is perfectly al dente, seasoning is not too overwhelming just the right amount of deliciousness. The food here won't let you down if it's just as I had them! read more

Absolutely loved Koto Ramen! A group of my friends and I were in Florence visiting from Rome & wanted a change from italian food. We stopped in after having a hard time deciding on a place and I'm so glad we did. The staff was attentive and so so friendly! Our waitress was the cutest girl ever and was very accommodating as we had 1 person with a sesame & nut allergy. She made sure that anything my friend ordered would be okay to eat. I ordered the miso ramen and it was absolutely incredible! We also had the shrimp and pork dumplings which were some of the best I've ever had! The prices are a little higher but for the quality of the food it is so worth it! I highly recommend eating at Koto!! read more

Worst staff, ok food. waited for 40 minutes to be given an extremely small table of 2 (we were 3) which could not have seated 3. The waiter said that this is what we get after waiting for only 5 min! Upon reminding him that we were there since 40min, he found us a decent table of 3. And he was the most decent guy of the lot! The maitre'd wearing black was rude and as if uninterested in our business.This is everything opposite of the true soul of florence. We got only love and smiles everywhere as tourists except this place. Ramen were decent though and the only reason for 2 stars. I would avoid this place for sure. I'm really craving for some good broth 'cause I'm home sick and physically sick at the same time. The presentations are superb. The atmosphere, the furnitures, the utensils, the complementary salad, it's classy. But I think the food is just okay. The shoyu ramen taste simple, it's not complex at all, it's just shoyu. I can't really taste the meat broth. The Chasiu Pork is okay, nothing special. There's spinach. I wish they could use something like chinese broccoli or bok choy, but that's just preference. Menma is sliced thinly so it's not so overpowering for those who like it this way. Ajitama could use a little more soy sauce. Noodle is great! It's holds the flavor just about right. It's curly and chewy just the way I like it. Recommended. But could use a little reduction on the price. Although, maybe it's kind of rare in Florence, so it's good. read more

We wanted to try something different while in Florence so got here about five minutes after it opened and ended up waiting 55 minutes for a bowl of ramen, which was nothing special. Save your time and money and try another of the hundreds of restaurants in Florence that are amazing. Server was good, kitchen staff seemed to consist of one person which left a restaurant backlog of orders, not impressed and won't be back. read more

Prices are a bit high, but the quality is amazing. The service is very fast at lunchtime, food is very good, and you get a good portion even with the smaller sizes. Only downside is €12 is a bit steep when it comes to competitors read more

Me and my friends always walk by this place and see a long line always so we decided to try it. We got there at about 6:45 15 mins before they opened and they took our names down and gave us a #. At 7:00 after waiting in the freezing cold they didn't open the doors, instead they let each table in one by one and waited about 5 mins or so In Between letting people in. We live in Los Angeles so theres no shortage of good Ramen places to visit so we were curious on a recent trip to Florence to see how a bowl of Italian ramen would stack up. We waited about ten mins for a table(the restaurant is somewhat small and they don't take reservations which makes sense due to the size of the place....imagine holding up half the floor space for a bunch of no shows while you wait...starving!! :-0 We were seated and the menu was concise and easy to read(in English for us), looking around at the other diners plates we quickly settled on the kara-age(this is essentially a form of crack delivered in chicken form), slow cooked pork, pumpkin, pot stickers and some Miso Ramen. The appetizers did what they are supposed to do, whet your appetite without filling you up too much, maybe they left you 'wanting more' too much as we ordered another dish of kara-age!!! Quick note...most Japanese restaurants serve Sapporo or Asahi which are OK beers but the best Japanese beer is by far and away Kirin which these guys keep on tap! Nice!! The long awaited moment arrived as the noodles were placed in front of us, the bowl is attractive and the ingredients colorful(don't let the crappy pic I attached fool you). It seems that I've been missing one thing in all my years of eating bowls of noodles.....the flavor of the broth! Sure, you can taste the salt or soy sauce that most places, including the best, tend to douse their noodles in but this time I could ACTUALLY taste the meaty broth without having my blood pressure soar!!! The roast pork was tender not chewy and a small detail but one that was noticed....the egg, my wife loves them and she particularly liked the one here as it didn't have that overcooked sulfurous black ring around the yolk, a more common failing than you'd like to imagine...who doesn't know how to boil an egg properly? The noodles themselves are probably half the diameter I've ever eaten yet they still retain that 'tooth', the 'al-dente' which you generally associate with doughy thicker noodles. Any chef can make a complicated dish but to make a simple dish well takes real skill so my hat is off to the chef at Koto. Its funny to be writing a good review for a noodle restaurant in Florence while I sit here in Los Angeles!! Its probably one of the last things I'd expect to do!!! Anyway, the deserts that followed were every bit as delicious as they look, we ordered the panna cotta, cream caramel and the matcha cake(yeah, we did splurge!!! ;-) All in all we had a great time and it was a breath of fresh air from the usual pizza and gelato places that are on every street all over Florence....we're definitely going to visit this place again on our next trip to Florence!!! read more
