We got the seaweed salad, shrimp dumplings, and the ramen-style sichuan soup. The dumplings had a little more watercress than a typical har gow, but I really liked them! Last month, we visited Florence and stayed for one night. Our hotel was only a couple minutes walk from Chilli Casa! We wanted to eat Chinese food that night and luckily were able to find this spot in our search. They are located in Florence's "Chinatown". There are Asian markets and a couple of different restaurants that serve Asian food. We were able to walk in and be seated immediately. Staff was very nice; we had great conversations with them ;) Food: we got cauliflower griddle, ma po tofu, beef ramen in szechuan special sauce, japanese ramen with pork & boiled fish with pickled cabbage. Their menu is pretty extensive... not gonna lie, it was a bit overwhelming, 13 pages BUT much appreciated. Lots of options and you're bound to find something you'll like. Overall, the food wasn't too bad. I don't expect to find the best Chinese restaurant in Europe. The boiled fish with pickled cabbage was very salty and oily. I had the beef ramen & it was okay but again, very oily... wasn't spicy just oily. If you're a soup drinker, this soup is not really drinkable. Ma po tofu was also extremely salty. So salty that it tasted spicy. I would only suggest getting the cauliflower. I am rating them a 4/5 because finding a Chinese restaurant was actually pretty hard in Florence. read more

We dropped by here after needing a break from all the Italian food on our vacation. We were craving something spicy and Chilli Casa came through. The location is on a pretty busy street by the Mercato Centrale. There are plenty of other restaurants and pubs in the area that are open quite late. The clientele were mostly Chinese and the staff speaks Chinese, Italian and English. The food here was surprisingly good and really exceeded our expectations. The wonton soup was well spiced and very hearty. The spicy boiled fish came in a very generous portion for the price. Flavors, spice, and the peppercorn were all on point. The service was pretty bad even considering the slower pace of service in Italy, so docking a star for that. Everything moved at a painfully slow pace. It took more than an hour for the food to even start coming out. It seemed like most of the parties had been waiting for a long time. Some of the dishes and cutlery were a bit dirty when we received them. Not at all the restaurants fault, but the street was pretty busy and the diners on the outside tables looked like they were constantly being approached by people on the street. read more

After three days of wonderful Italian cuisine, we needed a different cuisine and found Chilli Casa in what seems to be Florence's Chinatown. This restaurant has a broad selection of Sichuan dishes. Clientele was almost exclusively Chinese speakers during our lunch time visit. Spiciness was on the mild side (a good thing) and proprietor spoke English. The ambiance was quiet and restful. My tip for Sichuan restaurants is to always order a non-spicy dish along with the red oil dishes. Taste buds need a break from the heat. At this place, we ordered the crispy duck along with two typical Sichuan dishes. Great flavors with all three dishes. Really good szechuan food in Florence. The flavors are pretty authentic and reminiscent of China. Prices are affordable for the world traveler. The flavors were so good we came back once more for a second meal. The food doesn't make your stomach feel too bloated afterwards which means food ingredients were very natural. Best Chinese food during our two week trip in Europe. Coming from San Francisco Bay Area I was not expecting much from a Chinese restaurant in the touristy part of Florence near the Duomo. So when we tasted authentic Szechuan flavors from this small restaurant we were pleasantly surprised. We came here two nights in a row out of the three nights in Florence. We tried their beef noodle soup, mutton skewers, meat combo spicy soup, stir fried shredded potatoes, and skewered large shrimp with heads. All were absolutely delicious. The prices were great too, our waiter was very attentive, and dishes were served pretty quickly. Highly recommend it especially if you need a change of pace from Italian food and are looking for some inexpensive, fast, delicious Szechuan food! read more

My wife and I travel often and like to eat Asian food every place we go to break the monotony of the local food. In Florence this week, we ate at this restaurant because of the good reviews. However, we were disappointed because the food was mediocre and not tasty at all. We have eaten in many Asian Restaurant in many parts of the world as mentioned but this one restaurant does not level up to other Asian restaurants in other countries. My wife and I are not food connoisseur but we know good tasting Asian food when we see and taste one. Our server had no personality and we had to ask for forks 3x before we got them. The server seemed confused what a fork is. Some random guy robbed me by just taking off with the money I put in my bill so be freaking careful in the area but the food, service, and people are as great as can be! Thankful that the restaurant had cameras and was so understanding--I was about to be completely SOL after some loser pickpocket posed as a manager and made off with the cash! Oh the horror. Two of usO decided to go here because of all the good reviews and since we were craving spicy Asian food. We got seated right away and ordered dandan noodles and bibimbap. They told us it will take 30 minutes and we said it's fine. At the 30 minute mark nothing had arrived. Eventually the dandan noodles came but at the 50 minute mark the bimbimap still hadn't arrived. We canceled the order and paid for that one dish and left with one person hungry. The excuse was "we have so many people to take care of". I understand, and that's just not for me then! Really was craving Asian food after 4 straight days of Italian and Rome food while traveling. Didn't really find anything near my accommodation in Rome. Now in Florence there are many choices. I chose this one as was just 4 mins walk from my airBnB. Started with beef salad, and asked them to make it spicy. This is typically tastiness does h that is fairly bland, but no this was not and it was really good, and finished everything single morsel of it (generous size:) then had Vietnamese fried rice., this was just so so, as it did not taste like Vietnamese fried rice, and had Chinese sausage in it. But it still tasted decent. I did notice most of the restaurants had Asian fusion, which I usually steer away from, as there is no way you can make really good Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Korean foods as seasonings and ingredients are completely different, especially Korean food., overall, I did really enjoy it, as was spice and soy sauce craving read more
