I tried explaining to her in English (as my Mandarin isn't as sharp), but I was met with "I am a Chinese person. I speak Chinese! Do NOT speak English to me!" This was also bizarre to me because she clearly understood me, but was repeatedly harassing me for my inability to speak Chinese with her.
