This is a great place for a casual meal, with an old friend, and not a formal dinner date. (If you're thinking that, and he or she loves it, then you got yourself a total cheap date! Hookah! The downside is it's a small mom and pop and service was as slow as could be and a "get the food to the table" and everything else is "extra" attitude. Nice little spot near the bazaar / chinatown area. A little small, definitely not upscale, with a mom and pops shop vibe. Interesting mix of authentic and americanized (or should i say italianized?) menu choices. Their mapo tofu was surprisingly the best I'd ever had, though knowing me I don't know if that's saying much. Everything is cheap! Staff is friendly and attentive. Bathroom exists. I'm writing 5 star, but it's actually a 4.5 (fyi) Cleanliness leaves a little to be desired, as do some of the dishes. But for the price and authenticity of most of its dishes, I conclude that it's a cute little gem of a place tucked away in the sprawl that is Florence. If you need to satiate your chinese food needs while overseas, this place could be it. read more

So for starters, I'm not from around here. I'm currently studying in Florence through NYU's abroad program, thus giving me the opportunity to "fully immerse" myself in Italian culture. Yet here I find myself gravitating towards food that isn't your typical Italian primi (and yelping about it- speaking of Yelp why don't people Yelp here...) Anyways, found this gem through my friend Stevanica who'd heard that I was growing sick of pasta (and all the other forms of it). I think Tang is both affordable and filling. One of their most prominent dishes is the spicy fish (€8) which is a hot soup containing fish, napa, glass noodles, & little crackly peppers that add character to the dish. It pairs very well with rice (which costs €1 a plate) and is perfect for cold days. The string bean plate with garlic and spices is really yummy and works as a family style/neutral dish to share with friends. Keep in mind this place has two menus, so ask for the secondary one to receive the right string bean plate (otherwise you'll end up with the more bland/unseasoned version- if this does happen simply ask the waitress to change it and she'll do so rather compliantly). One drawback is the size of the restaurant. It can fit maybe 18 people at most and at that point it becomes cramped. I've witnessed several instances where waiting customers get frustrated and leave. Considering the food is served rather quickly, I've come to the conclusion that such a reaction is the product of being hangry and does not reflect the negligence of the staff. read more

I like me some Italian food, but if you're going to spend a week and a half in Italy, the ingredients all start tasting the same after a while. My wife and I ate here twice during our four days in Florence; the second time because we enjoyed the first. Employees speak Italian, Mandarin, and English and were all nice. Dishes are all pretty cheap, but portions are small-medium sized and come on plastic plates. This is a no frills joint. We treated it like a tapas establishment and just ordered a whole bunch of stuff plus a beer for me. Stuffed ourselves for about 25 euros. read more

FYI - This place is cash only. Went here based on the good yelp reviews. It wasn't too busy so we were able to get a table right away. We ordered the beef chow mein which was 3 euro and listed on the "pasta" portion of the menu as spaghetti - which made me laugh. I would highly recommend this dish - cooked to perfection. We added a little soy sauce and hot sauce and it was delicious! We ordered the first item on the pollo (chicken) section which was chicken and mixed vegetables. It was 3.80 euro. I would order something else next time. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't too flavorful. The water was 1 euro for a half liter and a can of fanta or coke was 1.5 euro. I can't say that I'm too happy with this place. The service is not good at all. We did not have to wait to be seated on the Monday evening and we were a party of 2, but you will be crammed as it is a very small place. The salt and pepper shrimp and chicken fried rice were delicious, although heavy on grease. The chicken with vegetables, however, was so unappealing that I didn't even touch it. The spring rolls were mediocre. The total for two people was €14, which is a great deal. However, I would only recommend this place if you are in a hurry. The food comes out very quickly. P.S. Don't know how they survive with such low prices or maybe the surrounding restaurants are just charging for the tourists, but the food and vegetables taste fresh and of high quality. If you want a good meal, but you are not in need of fancy furniture, you are at the right place. Roaming through the streets of Florence in need for a nice meal, that was not so expensive we passed by a small Chinese restaurant. Prices dragged us inside (compared with German prices) and we ordered a variety of dishes. Mostly Chinese people frequented the place, so we figured it was a good choice. Unfamiliar with the custom, that in Italy you have to pay for rice individually, the waitress told us, to order one plate of rice first and if it wasn't big enough we should get more. The honesty was a big plus. After getting our order (served most unorthodoxly on plastic plates and bowls) we were surprised by the quality and size of the meals we ordered. It is pretty authentic Chinese cuisine as well, a bit greasy, but still really good. My advice: Try it, you have nothing much to lose and your stomach will thank you. read more

Very solid Chinese food in the middle of Firenze. The portions are huge for what you pay for. I got the beef noodle with a side of eggplant. The eggplant dish I got was a bit too sweet for my liking but paired with white rice and I think it will be amazing. My friend Priscilla ordered the tofu with vegetables dish and I liked that a lot more. Seeing that I'm attending classes close to this place, I'll definitely come back to this place if I ever need a break from Italian fare. :) Maybe I'll try the shrimp dish next. read more

After reading yelp and at the same time desperate for Chinese (feeling sick from sleeping with AC on), I had low expectation coming to this place, but was pleasantly surprised. I have to say presentation is not one of their strength as all food (with exception of noodle soup) were served in plastic plates. Depending on what you order it can be a hit and miss. I was very satisfied with my beef noodle soup and Bok Choy with black mushroom. My husband's pineapple pork was not as satisfactory, but I let that slide because if you order Americanized Chinese, then you shouldn't expect any better. Their menu does carry some authentic Chinese dishes, as long as you can get pass the serving presentation, it's worth a try. After all, one can only have so much pasta and pizza. read more

The food here is fantastic. They have a nice range of dishes to satisfy everyone's different needs and the service is speedy. Food (4 stars): We've tried the spicy chicken feet (famous), sour vegetable fish (amazing), spicy bean sprouts, water crescents, red roasted meat, shrimps, and a few others. All of them taste great and have just the right level of spiciness. The portion sizes can be a little inconsistent though, which is something they really ought to be aware of but deny is a problem. There is an obvious difference though. Overall pricing of the place is quite reasonable compared to the other local restaurants and we've always left satisfied and full. Staff (3.5 stars): The food is served quickly and the staff works quickly. However, some of the staff aren't very bright and forget your orders from time to time. Sometimes the kitchen will serve you the dishes one at a time and sometimes they will serve several at the time. Obviously the latter is preferable, but they seem to just be too busy to do it properly. Waiters always seem to be overwhelmed and take some time to serve you rice with your food. They are all very friendly though. The wait is long but if you go for dinner between 6 and 7, the line is shorter. Waiting in line for dinner afterwards will generally require at minimum 30 mins. The space in the restaurant is small, so you'll likely have to share with others and still be cramped. Try not to get the seat by the door, as people keep coming through and will swing open the door. You won't get hit, but you'll just constantly be aware of something coming at you from the corner of your eye at fairly high speeds. They're okay with you bringing your own water, which is nice. Otherwise it'll cost you a few euros. read more

Me and a girlfriend of mine came to this lace after shopping and wanted something fast. We were thrilled to see Chinese and figured let's go in and try. The place is definitely not big maybe a handful of people fit comfortably. The service is ehhh service. We had the salt and pepper shrimp which was very good but only thing is you actually have to peel the shrimp but i really didn't mind. The chicken fried rice was also very delicious and I enjoyed it. This is a self service, modest place. But the food is delicious and cheap! We were longing for some different cuisine after all the pasta/pizza and this was a great place. No one will attend to your table and ask you if you are doing ok. If you need something, dont be afraid to go to the counter and ask for it. We are vegetarians and tried their noodles, soup and dim sum/dumpling. Dim sums/dumplings were insanely delicious and so were the noodles. The tofu dish and vegetable fried rice were average. This place SAVED me when I was dying from days of eating rich Italian food. Being Asian coming from California, I'm used to changing the type of food I eat frequently. I eat Italian food regularly. However, being in Italy, we were eating rich Italian food nonstop. And about a week in, my stomach started protesting, and I was urgently in need of rice. Please note that we visited Italy about 3-4 years back, whe Yelp was not at all widespread in Italy (everyone there used Foursquare). I had to download Foursquare, and was pretty convinced I will not be able to find any Asian restaurant when I discovered this place. The food here is pretty authentic and the price is really good for how much food you get. I grew up eating tomato egg as comfort food and was amazed I was able to find it on the menu. The restaurant was filled with mostly Chinese people, which I always say is how you can tell if the Chinese restaurant is authentic. I've been in Florence for a few months now and this is now my go to Chinese place. I crave it way more often than I ever did Chinese places in the states. The beef noodle soup is so good, the chunks of beef are really tinder and it's just 4 euro. I also really like their sauté noodles, they are 3 euro I believe. Like other reviews say the people aren't always super friendly but after being here for a while I expect that around the city a lot more than I did back home. And the noodles do come on a plastic plate but it's so cheap and good. read more
