Seasoned string beans, spicy fish, & rice. (€13 meal)
    Ellie Y.

So for starters, I'm not from around here. I'm currently studying in Florence through NYU's abroad program, thus giving me the opportunity to "fully immerse" myself in Italian culture. Yet here I find myself gravitating towards food that isn't your typical Italian primi (and yelping about it- speaking of Yelp why don't people Yelp here...) Anyways, found this gem through my friend Stevanica who'd heard that I was growing sick of pasta (and all the other forms of it). I think Tang is both affordable and filling. One of their most prominent dishes is the spicy fish (€8) which is a hot soup containing fish, napa, glass noodles, & little crackly peppers that add character to the dish. It pairs very well with rice (which costs €1 a plate) and is perfect for cold days. The string bean plate with garlic and spices is really yummy and works as a family style/neutral dish to share with friends. Keep in mind this place has two menus, so ask for the secondary one to receive the right string bean plate (otherwise you'll end up with the more bland/unseasoned version- if this does happen simply ask the waitress to change it and she'll do so rather compliantly). One drawback is the size of the restaurant. It can fit maybe 18 people at most and at that point it becomes cramped. I've witnessed several instances where waiting customers get frustrated and leave. Considering the food is served rather quickly, I've come to the conclusion that such a reaction is the product of being hangry and does not reflect the negligence of the staff.

Beef chow mein (on menu as spaghetti - haha!) - 3 euro - delicious!! Add a little soy sauce and hot sauce - perfect!!

FYI - This place is cash only. Went here based on the good yelp reviews. It wasn't too busy so we were able to get a table right away. We ordered the beef chow mein which was 3 euro and listed on the "pasta" portion of the menu as spaghetti - which made me laugh. I would highly recommend this dish - cooked to perfection. We added a little soy sauce and hot sauce and it was delicious! We ordered the first item on the pollo (chicken) section which was chicken and mixed vegetables. It was 3.80 euro. I would order something else next time. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't too flavorful. The water was 1 euro for a half liter and a can of fanta or coke was 1.5 euro. Definitely a great place if you're on a budget!

    Salt & pepper shrimp.

I can't say that I'm too happy with this place. The service is not good at all. We did not have to wait to be seated on the Monday evening and we were a party of 2, but you will be crammed as it is a very small place. The salt and pepper shrimp and chicken fried rice were delicious, although heavy on grease. The chicken with vegetables, however, was so unappealing that I didn't even touch it. The spring rolls were mediocre. The total for two people was €14, which is a great deal. However, I would only recommend this place if you are in a hurry. The food comes out very quickly. P.S. You get served on plastic plates.

After days of mostly carbs (sandwiches and pasta) & meat, we crave for vegetables. This is the best and most authentic Chinese food we found in Florence. Don't know how they survive with such low prices or maybe the surrounding restaurants are just charging for the tourists, but the food and vegetables taste fresh and of high quality. We tried another nearby Chinese restaurant with better decor but their food was definitely subpar. Very happy we found this place!

Well what do you expect from Chinese food in Italy right? But my sis was sick and she needed some soup. All the dishes were super oily and super salty. The photos on the menu do not resemble the actual dish at all.

    Delicious string beans!

Good food, nice prices in a family run place. Recommended for those weary of strictly Italian cuisine.

The dishes we ordered had well-Balanced sauces. We had a dish with braised quail eggs and pork belly ("Quail eggs and Bacon") which was very good. We had a greens sautéed with garlic. Very good (it's the type of dish that's SUPPOSED to taste the same at ANY restaurant and L'Angolo did not surprise us. That's a good thing). We had sweet and sour shrimp. The sauce contained fresh pineapple and fresh tomatoes and head-on, shell-on shrimp. The sauce was very good and not cloyingly sweet nor gelatinous. The only caution I would give is that if you're looking for American -style General Tso 's chicken or chop-suey, I don't think it's on the menu. This is more akin to a mid-tier American Chinese restaurant -- not a take-out joint.

Of all the places we have eaten, this is the best of them all. Good portions, good value and good taste. Finding out that this restaurant just opened up made me glad that we wandered through its door at the right time. I just found out that this is a branch of another restaurant in Loreto, Milan named Wang Jiao - Mong Kok and that the other name of this restaurant in Florence is called Xin Wang Jiao - L' angolo.

It was a great respite from the continuous (albeit delicious) Italian food we had been having for the past few weeks in Italy. Thoroughly satisfying. We ordered: * Steamed Fish - Branzino Al Vapore * Chili and Sour China Cabbage - Cavolo Cinese Agro-Piccante * Pork Rib Bone Noodle Soup * For Dessert: Yam Roll - Involtini di primavera dolci Highly recommend this place for a quality, inexpensive Chinese meal on the particularly cold days we've been experiencing in Florence. Service is fast and efficient. Would go again.

It's right across from another Chinese restaurant (Impressione) that had a line going out the door - 10-deep. Rather than wait around for a disgruntled lady to add us to the waitlist, we just went across the street. The food came out within 15 minutes and everything looked and tasted fresh. It was almost too fast for me to only get a photo of the chicken (cold dish). We also had the beef noodle soup, vegetable noodle soup, garlic steamed bok choy, and sour wonton soup. I would highly recommend this place for authentic food, but it's not fancy and the atmosphere is anything but cozy.
