Upon arrival, we were told we needed to order atleast two portions of meat equating to $100 euro if we were to sit down and weren't allowed to order any korean dishes off the menu without doing so. I have never experienced this type of predicament where I had no autonomy over what I were to order. I was looking to order dishes like bibimbap and jigae stew which they advertise on their menu. The menu at Gangnam had a little something for everyone. We went at lunch time and there was no wait and no requirement to order off the BBQ menu, their kimchi is solid. They have decent versions of the go to Korean dishes like kimbap, ddukbokki and Korean cold noodles aka nengmyun. If you are craving Korean food after a week of Italian food, this is the place to be. read more

After a week of pasta, pasta and you know . . . Even more pasta, we decided to make Christmas about Korean bbq. This is definitely not in the upper echelon or Korean BBQ globally, but definitely will give you a Korean bbq fix and then some. Panjeon (seafood pancake) was light and tasty, and portioned for 1 or 2 ppl instead of the usual "family size" I normally see. We had the pork galbi, a favorite, and it did not disappoint. Not the best, but just all the right notes. My Korean wife had the kimchi jigae, which is a comfort food for her, and it hit the spot! (Go Florence!) The only miss was the Korean cold buckwheat noodle. Preparation had all the looks of a superstar, from slushee ice in the broth to slices of apple, carrot and cucumber. However, it tasted like "out of the package" and overcooked to boot. Lastly, this is "smokesless" bbq, so don't expect charcoal or super high heat. However, no problems getting a decent char. This was our go-to Korean restaurant during our stay here in Florence. The perfect break from pizza and pasta and it always hit the spot. We tried Goong Korean restaurant on the other side of the city, but it was way over priced and not as good as Gangnam. The food wasn't gourmet or anything special, but it definitely had all the basic Korean dishes to satiate our cravings! read more

Food was = 4.5, but service was = 2.5 The food was marinated very well, but what made me give this restaurant such a low score was when we we're seated I noticed my utensil & napkin had a dead fly on it which I pointed out to the server and asked for a new one. But instead, my fiancé saw with his own eyes that they wiped off the dead fly and gave me the same utensils and napkin. That to be is a HUGE NO NO and honestly very disturbing and unsanitary. We were craving for something different than the pasta, pizzas, and sandwiches we've been eating all week. It was such a nice change. We had a little bit from each menu section. They have outdoor seating in the back which is where we sat. We didn't get a grill but nonetheless, what we ordered was so delicious. I would totally recommend this to anyone who is craving spicy, saucey, and pickley. read more

Review is little late but, this Korean restaurant in Florence was a jackpot for us travelers from US. Honestly didn't expect too much (was just excited that we were able to eat Korean food in Florence,) but to our surprise the food was very.. very good. The owners are Chinese Korean and the food style is from their hometown cooking. Not that much is different from authentic Korean food ... just the cooking style that's all. My husband I had Sam-gyub-sal (pork belly) with Kim Chi pot... which was perfect for our Korean American taste. Went back couple times till on our way to our next destination ~~ Nice France. Would I go back? Yes Keeping in mind this is Firenze, it's one of the few Korean restaurants in the area and one of the better ones. It'll fulfill the "I need bap and kimchi" fix. Average Korean food at best, but probably an oasis for people that need a break from Italian food. The menu is somewhat limited but they have the Korean basics such as dol sot be bim bap, bulkogi, Soon tubu chibae etc. Our waitress was absolutely not friendly. Beer is limited to Heineken and the Korean beers, all basically like Budweiser ie no craft beer or local, but OK for the meal. Air conditioning was nice and decent seating space. If you need a break from Italian food probably OK, I would look for other Korean or Asian restaurants before coming here. Note that this is based off one visit and the fact I have eaten Korean food extensively at home, in Korea, the US, other Asian countries and Europe. I'd say this place is average. Not disgustingly bad, not amazing. If you really really need Korean food, this place is not too bad. I'd give it 2 stars if it was in NY or LA. Of course, this place deserves a five star review! For the love of Korean food, this place hits the spot. Been living in Naples, Italy for a year and a half now and I am deprived of Korean bbq and Korean food in general. Anyways, this place is awesome. The only concern I have is that their menu was a bit difficult to understand. Good thing we understood a bit of italian and went off with the italian description on the menu. Other than the menu being a tad bit confusing I highly suggest this place for Korean food lovers. They have on table grill. We had pork belly, bolgogi, dolsot or better known as hot stone bibimbap, they had side dishes served, and soups. All we ordered was delicious. A must try, coming from a foodie/food lover. read more

I was on day 9 of my Switzerland/Italy trip and this restaurant was truly a godsend. The Korean couple that runs this place are so cute and hospitable. They were so busy but made sure you were happy. In the beginning, I thought they were Chinese because they spoke mandarin to their many Chinese clientele but when they heard me speak Korean, they spoke Korean to me. The food was delicious! I ordered the kimchee jiggae and bulgogi. I didn't regret eating here for my last meal in Florence! I left happy and satisfied. read more

Was going to give 4 stars but it's the best Korean restaurant you will find in Florence. Tried 2 other Korean restaurants and this place was the Best. Had bibimbop, Kimchi jjigae and spicy vegetable squid. I had better ones back home in Virginia but in Florence this place is the best. Price was also reasonable. read more

Another Korean restaurant?! Florence has heard my prayers! 1. get a reservation if its tourist season. Floods of Chinese tourists fill this place up and it can be difficult to get in during dinner at times. 2. Bbq grill takes a while to heat up but itll get there. Enjoy other dishes while meat slowly cooks - cook it well. 3. Service is a bit disgruntled but you can usually flag down a waitress to ask for more banchan (sides) or order more food, etc. 4. Even if you dont eat bbq, you will still smell like you rolled around in some. Laundry and shower time. 5. The staff/waitresses speak a mix of Chinese, some Korean, some Italian. Some English. You will probably connect with someone but the guy (manager?) with short hair seems to be the best multilinguist in the place. They seem to be best catered for Chinese clientele and of course Korean. Food was pretty good - we had the bbq beef (over marinated for our tastes but in Italy Ill takes what I can gets!) it comes with some lettuce to wrap your meat. You may need to ask for lettuce and/or rice. The dolsut bibimbap was pretty good with a bright orange egg yolk on top. Banchan was ok - pretty good for Italy! Service was at times a bit grumpy but effective. Overall, quite thankful for another food option. Hurray for Korean food! read more

This review is coming in 5 months a little late. After being in Italy for some odd 4-5 days I needed something other than pasta. This restaurant was close to our hotel and I was in dire need of some Asian food, so we tried it out. Till this day back in LA I still think of that spicy ramen noodle dish. They don't have an extensive list of meat like the ones in Korea town here but the ones they do have are delicious still. Side dishes were limited but it's all about the meat. People here comparing this restaurant to the ones in LA or NYC are crazy. You can't compare types restaurants from 2 different countries. Food was delicious, ambience was great and service was terrific even with the language barrier on my part. (Living in LA for 20 something years, I should know how to order basic Korean food like rice paper) Suffice to say, this place was so good, my fiancé and I went back the next night. We are Korean so we know what Korean food tastes like, but the food that they severed was extremely different from what I'm use too.
