A hidden chimac place centrally located on Robson St. The fried chicken was done perfectly and I love their rice cakes and side dishes!
This place was so good! I recommend the hot stone bowl rich sets as it comes with 9 different sides. It's pretty affordable and it'll definitely fill you up. The boneless fried chicken was good too. It was crispy yet still juicy. I would probably recommend getting one of the flavoured fried chicken instead of the original as it was a little plain. The fried sticky rice cake that came with it was yummy although a little plain without sauce (from the chicken)
Came here on a Wednesday evening around 7 and the place was already full. There is a QR code to join the waitlist. I was craving bibimbap, but they didn't have it on the menu, so we ordered the egg fried rice instead. They do have fried chicken bap though, which looked tempting. Their seolleongtang was already well seasoned for my taste, so I didn't need to add any salt or pepper. The portions of both the rice and soup were quite generous, and the flavors were really good. We also ordered a small padak since an entire page of their menu is dedicated to fried chicken. The chicken pieces were big, juicy, and very satisfying. There are few other specialty dishes like bossam that I would like to try as well but I will save that for next time
holy moly. honestly was not expecting Kosoo to be as GREAT as it was. the staff was super friendly, environment very welcoming, an the food fresh and delicious. the dirty fries caught us completely by surprise as they were delicious. also worth mentioning that the coke zero being so delicious with significantly less ingredients as an American was a great first start of our trip lol. definitely give this place a try!
The honey butter chicken was soooo good!! I loved the different textures in the dish like the crunchy chips, chewy rice cakes and crispy chicken! Highly recommend!
Nice spot for korean food, service was prompt and friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. Menu pricings are decent and the portion size is good as well! Only tried the Galbijjin this time around, it was spot on flavour wise. More than enough to feet two people and came with plenty of sides!
Service was fast and friendly. The side dishes were yummy and they are attentive if you want refills. We ordered the yangnyeom boneless (half size) and the sauce was too sweet for my liking, but the rice cakes were soooo good. Just the right chewy texture on the inside and crispy on the outside. We also got the spicy jokbal and it was indeed spicy but so delicious. The meat was tender and the veggies in the dish add the right amount of crunch to pair with that. Two dishes were more than enough for two people.
We went upstairs and sat near the window so we had a view of Robson. The dumplings and mushroom bulgogi we ordered were fine. Banchan were 3 dishes, which was quite odd as I normally get at least 5 dishes at other restaurants & other people seemed to be given many more as well, from the pictures they've posted. Loud atmosphere as music played while customers chatted.
Last night in Canada and decided to go to a Korean restaurant. We looked at reviews and came in. The service here is okay. We orders and they just dropped off the food and never came back. Wish the service was better, like say, how is everything or is there anything else. The chicken was decent. My Wang galbi tang soup was good. Wish there was more noodles. Othet than that, I would go back to this place. The music was awesome, love the k pop music and they do play other music. I would recommend this place.
My girlfriend was craving Korean food while we were in Vancouver, and since this spot was just a short walk from our hotel, we decided to check it out. As soon as you head up the stairs, you are greeted by friendly staff and a clean, cozy dining space. The menu is straightforward with plenty of great options. For appetizers, we ordered the Mandu, which are Korean style dumpling filled with pork and mixed vegetables, which were delicious. For entrees, I went with the Soy Garlic Chibap, which is boneless fried chicken tossed in soy garlic sauce over rice. My girlfriend ordered the Kimchijjigae, a spicy kimchi stew with pork served with rice. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh and comforting, and the prices were surprisingly affordable for how much food we got. We left full and happy. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!
The beef hotpot has very delicious broth, very beefy. I love that it has various veggies and mushroom. We are a table of three, so the seafood pancake and the hotpot is the perfect quality. The seafood pancake felt very thick with flours, I had much better seafood pancakes at other places. Overall, good food and especially with hotpot style, it's fun to share on a cloudy day.
Satisfy your Korean fried chicken cravings here. Their downtown Robson street location is where you can pick from 9+ different flavours of chicken that can be boneless, bone in or oven baked. You get either get them full size or half size. We tried the following: - Supreme Full Size Boneless Chicken $37 ( cream sauce with yangneyeom) - Mayack Full Size Boneless Chicken $37 (seasoned cheese powder w/ yogurt sauce) - Bullak Geongol Hotpot $57 (marinated beef, octopus, potato, cabbage, glass noodle & more) - Spicy Chicken Feet $25 The portions for the full size chicken is huge! The chicken was crispy and flavourful. They came with potatoes and rice cakes. It was more than enough for three people. The hot pot was loaded & very comforting. The chicken was quite spicy but tasty! It does get a bit pricey so come with a group to share!
Service was great!!! The spicy garlic chicken was 20% off plus free fries it was spicy loved it hehe. Honey butter chicken was sweet! I stopped by Kosoo right after arriving in Vancouver for vacation with two of my friends. It was the first place we tried, but honestly our favorite of the whole trip. We were craving some Korean food, so we walked over about a mile from our hotel for a late lunch on a weekday. We were seated pretty quickly and looked over the menu. The fried chicken options and the bossam really stood out to us, but everything looked delicious. We ended up splitting two dishes for the three of us and were pretty full in the end. They give banchan as well which you can refill. Food: - Supreme Fried Chicken - The yangnyeom (sweet chili sauce) fried chicken with creamy sauce, corn, and rice cakes. The fried chicken was really crunchy and the sauce was amazing. It was savory, a little sweet and had a good kick to it. We all love Korean fried chicken and this was such a good sauce that we haven't had elsewhere. - Half spicy jokbal & half original bossam - My friends like jokbal, but I just like bossam, so it was nice that we could get an entree half/half. The meat was all super tender and perfectly cooked. It really made us wonder how they cook it - sous vide and broil/torch? It was caramelized/charred on the outside perfectly too. The only downside is that they charge you extra for wraps to eat with the meat, but not too much. Overall, we were really satisfied with our meal at Kosoo and wished we had visited more than once during our trip to Vancouver. Next time! read more

We randomly saw this place while walking around and korean food sounded good. It's a cute hidden restaurant on the 2nd floor. Lots of natural light and plenty of seating. We decided to share the eel platter that comes with banchan. We also got a half order of boneless sweet chili fried chicken. This place is so affordable for how much food you get! We were impressed. My only complaint is the chicken.. mostly batter & skin. Wish there was more actual meat. Flavor was good though and a good spice. Server was attentive and friendly. A great spot for dinner! It's located on Robson street on the second floor. My family and I came around 6:00pm on a Thursday and luckily was seated right away. Most of the other tables were filled but you can also make a reservation. We ordered the Soy Garlic Chibap with mixed vegetables and the Bossam Original. The chicken was seasoned well and crunchy. The sauce was flavorful. The portion for the Bossam was pretty good. The porky belly went well with the side dishes provided. I did wish lettuce was included too. Our server refilled our sides for us when we ran out. I would say it was enough food for 4 people. I also saw other tables order the fried chicken. There was music playing in the restaurant and is a great spot for a casual dinner! read more
Kosoo's new location on robson is amazing and my favourite part is their $24 lunch special (pictures attached) and you get and you get an indulgent 8-9 course meal. My favourite was definitely the BIBIMBOB BALL which was crunchy and flavourful. Parking is in the back alley so no worries if the front is full! read more

Food: 2.5/3 Service: 0.5/1 Ambience: 1/1 There is lots of selection at Kosoo and it is generally pretty good! There are a few dishes that I thought were not really up to par but overall it is definitely some good korean fried chicken! My biggest complaint about Kosoo is the service - every time I've been here it's tough to get the attention of the servers. One time it took 40 minutes after dinner was over to wave one down for the bill - and this is while we were actively keeping an eye out for them coming by to get their attention. The place wasn't that crowded at the time either. Overall I'd say Kosoo is a pretty decent pick if you're looking for korean food. read more

What an amazing place with delicious Korean food that I highly recommend! It's been around for about 3 years and the line ups are endless to get in! We scanned our names to get on the waitlist and it took about 20 mins to get a table. The ambiance is busy and loud. My mushroom beef galbi was absolutely delicious! So much food for $22! Portions are large. This is not a vegetarian place. My brother being a pescatarian ordered the squid without the pork belly. They charge money for the to-go bag. read more
The food was good. Won't say it's fantastic! We ordered their pork belly special and it was good. However, a little too much for 2 people because too fatty. We also ordered a soup dish but that was not memorable. The service was ok. You have to flag them if you need something otherwise they will ignore you. My bf and I tried their galbi tang and half Yangyeom and half honey butter chicken. Galbi tang was great, loved the soup and the meat came right off the bone. Now the chicken... unfortunately we didn't like at all. It was too saucy for us and made us feel heavy. We love chicken and have finish a whole chicken of Korean chicken normally, so it was disappointing we didn't like this place. Maybe we should've tried the original? And get 1 sauced item? Not sure. But this place made us full for the rest of the day and had us skip dinner. read more

The best Korean fried chicken I've ever had! My boyfriend ordered the chibap, and there was so much flavor in the sauce, and the texture was everything you want in fried chicken - Crunchy outside and juicy inside. I ordered the ox knee soup, and it was gelatinous and comforting. There was definitely enough food for us to share and bring home. Service was great. The servers were smiling and so helpful and quick! Ambiance was a great time. Large group of friends around us. Great spot for large groups and get togethers. Next time I'm in Vancouver again, I'm definitely stopping by. read more

We came as a party of four around prime time dinner hour (6:30/7:00pm) and were seated immediately. Our server was polite and answered all of our questions regarding the menu. We were impressed with how fast the food came out after we ordered. The ambiance was enlightening and casual. The food was delicious! We order the kimchi fried rice, supreme and creamy paldok chicken wings, and original bolssam. I'd have to say the bolssam was a bit fatty, but I think that's partially how it should be. With all this food, we thought it was would be pretty hefty bill, but to our surprise, it was pretty reasonably priced for what you get. read more
Yummy!!!!! You need to walk up a flight of stairs to get here, but we'll worth it. A very cute restaurant, good for a date, with friends and with your family. The fried chicken portions are hefty, but good. The chibap bowls can be shared with 2 people, and so can just the platter if fried rice. We loved the assortment of side dishes that came out with the LA galbi with the hotpot of rice and soup. Loved it!!! If you're in Vancouver, it's a sure stop. :) read more

Tasty food, chill vibes, and reasonable prices. Came by for an early dinner and there was plenty of seating. By the time we were finishing up, it had gotten busier. We ordered a couple of dishes to try to go with the makgeolli. The makgeolli was smooth and had a refreshing taste. It only had a slight hint of chestnut and had just the right amount of sweetness. I was glad we got to try this drink. Yangnyeom boneless chicken (half order)- this one had a very thick sauce on it. It had some spice but was mainly sweet. We were debating between this one and the chapssal dakgangjeong, but was told the yangnyeom was crispier. The pieces of chicken were quite large and meaty. The batter was crisp. There were also pieces of potato and rice cake. I like how the rice cake was crisp on the outside and still chewy. This dish was great. For $19 and split between the two of us, it was a good portion. Mushroom bulgogi- this had sliced beef, mushrooms, glass noodles, and plenty of onions. I liked their sauce as it wasn't too sweet and was the right balance between salty and sweet. The portion was quite large, although there were quite a lot of onions. The sliced beef was tender. I wish there were more mushrooms though. Also, this came with rice that's in a hot steel bowl. It was perfect for getting crisp rice on the bottom. It was served with the lid on it too, so it kept the rice hot throughout the meal. Banchan- they were all solid. Potatoes were cooked to tender and full of flavour. Beansprouts had a good crunch. Kimchi was had a nice spice. Overall, portions of food were quite generous. Everything was tasty. Servers were friendly. I'd happily come back for Korean food when I'm downtown! read more
If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and go here! I was visiting Vancouver and found Kosoo via Yelp and it had great reviews so we decided to try it out. It was around 8pm on a Wednesday and fairly busy, but luckily there was an open table available right away. We were hungry from walking around the streets of downtown, and ordered a lot of food to share. KFC Soy Garlic (5/5): Incredibly savory chicken. The batter was so good and crispy. The soy garlic sauce coated every crevice of each chicken and I liked the addition of potatoes and tteok. Bossam (5/5): Must order! I don't think I've ever had bossam with this much flavor before. It reminded me a lot like Chinese char-siu because of the sweetness and caramelization. Typically bossam is boiled, but this one was roasted. Seafood Pancake (4/5): Solid. I think every Korean spot I've gone to has gotten the seafood pancake down to a T. Galbi Tang (4/5): Comforting light soup with tender, fall of the bone meat and slippery rice noodles. Kimchi Fried Rice (4/5): Definitely a filler dish. It was tasty, but with all the other food we got, it didn't stand out. Overall, the food here is pretty fantastic. As for the service, it was lacking. There were waitresses running around, but you had to lock eye contact with them and wave them over if you needed anything. They were super friendly, but the lack of attentiveness was the only downside to dining here. Regardless, the food and portions outshined this part of the experience. read more
We were looking for a good restaurant relatively early and came across this restaurant on Yelp. One of the reviews said to come early cause by 6 the line goes down the stairs. We ordered Kimchi jjigae, bulgolgi mushroom and soy garlic chicken. They were all good and a little too much for two people. I got to take home the chicken and some of the banchan and rice perfect second dinner. The restaurant was surprisingly bigger than we originally thought and very hip interior. We came at 130pm on a Thursday and there was no wait! We were debating between the fried chicken and pork belly and decided on ordering the spicy jokbam and bossam. I was a bit worried I wouldn't like the pork feet but it was delicious ! The sauce has a kick to it and is very flavorful. Definitely worth trying and their portion size is huge. The Korean fried chicken gods must have come down from the heavens and given Koosoo their magic gift because this is some of the best fried chicken in Canada. We had did a split order of extra crispy and soy garlic. Both were so good, and there's plenty to share with 3-4 people especially if you get something else. But you won't want to. The chicken is tasty the next day as well. Warning once you start you won't want to put it down. Not knowing, we also ordered the geongol. Also incredibly delicious if for some reason you're not a fried chicken fan. There are so many delicious looking items on the menu we'll have to come back next time with a big group so we can try them all. Service was friendly and we got in right away for a late friday night nosh. Wish I was local so I could be a regular. read more

While shopping near Robson Square I asked a staff in one of the local stores for good place to eat and he recommended Kosoo and I'm glad that we gave it a go. Food taste great and they serving portions are good! There's plenty of space and surprisingly not too crowded. Servers are friendly and fast. Stopped by here on a Sunday evening and were seated right away. We came right on time because the wait time quickly went up to 40 minutes after we were seated! We ordered the Supreme Full Size ($32), and the Honey Butter & Soy Garlic Bone-In Half & Half ($39) which we split amongst 5 people. The Supreme Full Size is loaded with a lot of things, so that alone was super filling. The five of us weren't able to finish and even had left overs! Honestly, this place was a super good deal because the price was really affordable when we split with 5 people, and the food was super filling. Waitresses were very friendly and were very attentive whenever we asked for radish refills. Really enjoyed our time here! read more

The wait was pretty quick. The food overall was okay. The menu was quite pricey. The soup was a bit salty by itself, but adding rice made it less salty. The ribs was a bit on the sweeter end! Overall it was decent! read more
Kosoo's Bibim Makguksu (Korean Spicy Cold Noodles) was unlike anything I had tried before. It was cold, spicy, sweet, and packed with flavour. No joke, every bite was packed with spice! My boyfriend has a higher tolerance for spicy food than me but even he said that it was a bit too spicy The portion was huge and can easily feed 2 people. I liked the Bibim Makguksu but I wish they had an option of choosing the spice level. If you are up for the challenge make sure to check them out and try the Bibim Makguksu We also tried the Supreme Boneless Chicken 1/2 size. It was absolutely delicious. Located on 2nd floor, nice large dining area, arrived at 2030 on a Saturday night, place completely full, waited 15 mins for a table to open up. Selected the half order of the original Korean boneless fried chicken and the Ox bone soup. The chicken was heavily breaded, meat moist and tender, completely drenched in flavorful sauce, in fact, enough sauce to satisfy a whole village. Ox bone soup came with a very hot bowl of rice in its own wooden serving holder. Very flavorful and comforting when rice added to soup. They give you a thermos filled with hot water, after scooping out the rice, you're left with the crusty rice stuck to the bottom/sides of rice bowl, add the hot water for a delicious burnt crusty rice soup to accompanied your meal. Kosoo! Definitely an elevated place to go to. Their dishes are plated so delicately and I recommend trying their set lunch ($20) which is shown here! What's not shown is the matcha crème brûlée they give at the end which was sooo creamy and decadent My favourite dish in the set was the fried mackerel I'd definitely like to go back to try their other dishes such as the fried chicken! Kosoo Korean Restaurant has two branches in Downtown Vancouver. We tried the dishes at Cardero Street a few years ago. We decided to go to their Robson location this time. It is surrounded by retail stores, and it has a bigger dining space. It is located at 1128 Robson Street (across from the MUJI store). Kosoo on Robson has lots of options on their menu. You can choose traditional dishes and modern Korean cuisine. We were craving for the Korean Fried Chicken (KFC), so we ordered the half Supreme and half Mayack on bone-in chicken. It came with corn and potato wedges. The portion was enormous. The KFC was crispy and juicy. It was definitely enough for two people. We'd want to go back try more dishes if we have a big group of people. Food: 4/5 Should Try! Awesome Korean restaurant up a set of stairs in the middle of Robson Street. Had seen the pics of Korean fried chicken and knew we had to try this place. We were hungry so we ordered a few things of their menu. Their Kim chi fried rice had pieces of bacon, a lot of kimchi and was super delicious. Good portion, enough to bring some deliciousness home. We ordered their creamy padak boneless chicken was super cronchy with fried rice cakes and potatoes and a tower of green onions. Super cravable! And because I love bossam we ordered the original pork belly - for real we needed 2 extra people to eat all of that but everything was excellent all the way down to the banchan - the shredded and cubed radish were our favorites and they gave us more when we asked. The service was great, very attentive and helpful (like knowing we ordered a ton for just the two of us and suggesting just getting the half chicken which was still super large). First meal after arriving in the city! We ordered the Bossam and it was the star of the show. So insanely delicious. Loved the large spread of banchan and sauces to accompany the meat. We also ordered the Gamjatang, which was extremely generous with the meat and extremely comforting as a soup but a bit lackluster in terms of flavor. It was definitely flavored, but pretty one dimensional. Later that night we decided we really wanted to try the fried chicken so we got the soy garlic for take out, but perhaps made a grave mistake as it just didn't survive the car ride well and became rather dry and soggy when we got back home. Overall a 4/5 but getting the Bossam here is a MUST. read more
The bossam is so tender, flavorful, and umami - especially with the fermented salted shrimp dipping sauce. They also have a ssamjang (fermented soybean) sauce as well! My table also got the fried chicken with tteokbokki. The chicken was perfectly double fried and coated in a sweet and spicy sauce . This place did not disappoint after numerous searches for some Korean food. Walked in happy and walked out full and happier. It's 6pm and I'm about to land in B.C for the week. I have my week of eating planned out but needed a Korean spot to complete it. Two hours later and many many Yelp searches I found this one that was open and from the reviews looked great. Next morning 11am we are there and maybe the 3-4 group to eat. Located upstairs on the main strip of Robson where you have literally warfare of businesses to choose from. Nice clean and open dining area with wonderful staff that greeted and sat us down immediately. Simple menu but everything looked and sounded so good. Unfortunately it's the first shop so we definitely did not want to stuff ourselves so soon as we planned to bike around Stanley Park. - Soy Garlic Chicken 1/2 order - Spicy Rice Cakes - Ban Chan Assortment Yes. That's all we ordered and barely could finish it. Soy garlic chicken was so crispy and yet so juicy with flavors that had me second thinking about Bon chon KFC. VERY GENEROUS amount of chicken The spicy rice cakes was not up to my par but the flavors made up for it especially with the combination of the fried Chicken. Again. Generous amount of rice cakes and fish cake with vegetables made its hearty lunch to start the day. Ban Chan assortment wasn't like other Korean spots where they come out with like a dozen variety's, maybe because it's lunch time???? Either way I was happy with what I got. All this for under $40 CAD what a damn deal compared to the California Peninsula restaurants. Will definitely comeback here again next time for dinner and see how it matches up. I had a pretty great time here. I'm just a little bummed I went alone because some of their larger items are meant to be shared so the waitresses warned me before I ordered a meal for four by myself. The sweet spicy fried chicken was amazing - crunchy as heck on the outside but still nice and meaty on the inside. The decorations were very modern and Korean and I loved people watching the pedestrians below. read more
